  1. Great win for Thistle today, fantastic team spirit shown by all the lads to come fom behind and win with 10 men. If they can keep that kind of level up they won't be far away.
  2. 37 minutes, sub Ryan Cooper was brilliant
  3. Had to go back to Page 9 to find this thread, kind of sums up how the season has gone. A terrible result on the last day of the season on paper but with some mitigating circumstances. On the face of it an 8-1 home defeat to the fourth bottom team is a shocker and there's no doubt Craigmark were the better team on the day and worthy of a 2 or 3 goal win even with all things being equal. But... we had no keeper for three quarters of the game and played the whole second half with our defensive midfielder unable to run, quickly followed by the left back ending up similarly incapacitated after a coming together as they say. With no subs to bring on it was only going to go one way. No help from the referee either with two penalties against us although the second was pretty clear cut. So onwards and downwards to the first division next year with some tasty looking ties in prospect against all our nearest and dearest. Savings on travel and potentially bigger crowds should soften the blow a bit along with what must surely be an improved showing in the table. I've seen a few of the teams in the league this season and the standard isn't bad so I'm not predicting a quick return for us, if we get top half I think we'll be doing well.
  4. I was disgusted to hear of this, both sides have these hangers on who only come out for one thing but the real fans know that these louts are nothing to do with the club. It is a social problem rather than a football one and Larkhall suffers from it more than most places. I don't speak on behalf of the club but can say that the vast majority of the people of Larkhall are decent and would be appalled by these acts.
  5. Lost a good few bob that the club can hardly afford, personally I think the arrangements were a bit ott given the lack of anticipation of the game and hence probable crowd size. The St Roch's supporters would have gone over to the other side opposite the shed anyway and they could have come round for pies etc without any hassle. The last time they were at Gasworks was a whole different ball game with it being a promotion decider and winner takes all, this would have been much more low-key.
  6. The fans experience is probably one of the last things they consider, if indeed they consider it at all. The deal has been done, the money sorted, health and safety passed, police OK with it, TV planning done etc etc. They're not going to start again from scratch because the majority of fans would prefer another venue.
  7. Thought it was a right good game and could have gone either way in the second half. It would have been interesting to see how the new vesion of Thistle reacted to the setback of the equaliser just before half time. As you know some of their reactions to setbacks haven't been too great this season so it would have been good to see how they coped.
  8. That doesn't make any sense at all, why then were the referee and linesmen out at half time bouncing the ball on the park to see if it stuck? And why were they running about, if the ref had done his ankle he'd be hobbling not running. More than a coincidence that they were soaked and cold and like another poster said, one of the linos could have reffed it with club officials on the lines, they are meant to be qualified referees.
  9. Glasgow Perthshire, probably the only German tourists to ever visit there, not one for the mainstream guidebooks
  10. How did the St Pauli thing come about mate, I know they have a thing with Celtic but wouldn't have thought they'd know much about Scottish junior football?
  11. Interesting to note that's your first post but nonetheless I'll answer your points. "get your facts right" - virtually the whole post is facts. I could go to the match reports and come back with numbers but Mushet was in and out the team. Reynolds played left back. Thistle were on a 12 game unbeaten run, etc etc they're all facts. I don't have anything against Mushet or Reynolds - as I said Reynolds had a very good season, in fact I voted for him as player of the year. Mushet big and solid and a good defender when he learned how to head a ball. But these aren't facts, they're opinions. "I’m pretty sure he was the only addition that season" hmmm you seem to have a good knowledge of Thistle - maybe an ex-player? "belittling players" aye right, I've said repeatedly I have nothing against them and they both contributed a lot to to Thistle especially Niall Reynolds but even if I had, the whole point of the forum is to voice your opinion and I voiced mine. You said it was rubbish and that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. As for the Arthurlie side of it, I don't know I've only seen them once this season (against us) and the clips from the Glencairn game. Arthurlie lost two goals in that game that were both straight down the middle where I would have expected my centre halfs to be. Hence I made the comment about their lack of pace. If the two of them have been great in Arthurlie's other games and have propelled them to the top 3, fair play to them and to Sinky for sticking by them, as I say I wouldn't know. But to suggest that the addition of Mushet was the reason that Thistle got promoted after 7 seasons in Division 1 is laughable, there was a team spirit that came about from Sinky and Tam being there long term with players who had played together for 5+ seasons and had gelled as a team - Gracie, Brown, Innes, Canning, Jack, Reynolds, McKeever, Kelly, Reid from memory but a few more too all played a much bigger part in getting Thistle promoted than Mushet did. In my opinion.
  12. I'm guessing you don't know much about Thistle or the promotion campaign, Mushet was in and out of the team and Reynolds played the whole season at left back. Thistle were on a 12 game unbeaten run (10 wins) then Mushet came back into the team and they lost at home to Wishaw, the following week at Neilston he was dropped but he came on at half time with the score 2-2 and Thistle lost. That's not to say he neccessarily cost them the games or that he wasn't any good but he had no pace then and it's two years further on. As for Reynolds he had a very good season, but at left back. But feel free to come back at the end of the season when the two of them have helped take Arthurlie up.
  13. Realise that but when it's a bigish crowd there's always more behind the goals at the pie stall and on the opposite side unless it's raining. But you were there and I wasn't, just what I guessed from what I could see. Are you saying it was a big crowd?
  14. Just watched the highlights of the game there, great video btw, well done on that. Crowd was a bit disappointing, I thought there would have been more for a game between two teams going for promotion. Can't see Arthurlie having a realistic chance of going up with a central defensive partnership of Reynolds and Mushet though, they have a combined total of zero pace but are both manager's favourites so I take it they play most weeks. Both the Glencairn goals were right down the middle where better or faster centre halfs might have dealt with the threat. Glencairn play some good football at this level though and looked to be worth at least a draw from what was shown there.
  15. I wouldn't exactly say that the win has been coming, we've been rotten for most of the season but we seemed to have stemmed the tide in the run up towards Christmas with only odd-goal defeats in 5 out of 6 games making the gubbings in January at Kilsyth and Benburb look more like a blip in our gradual progress. I predicted last week we'd get more points on the board and a win or two so didn't take long to come to fruition.
  16. Whooosh I know mate, one draw after 20 odd defeats isn't exactly in-form, hence the the tongue-out emoticon Anyway that's a draw and then a win, it's getting nearer to in-form - unbeaten in February!
  17. Mibby you could get Gary Lineker to to an advert for you Good to see you getting involved though, we don't hear much about the juniors outside the West and East region. Best of luck for the rest of the season.
  18. Surprised at the number of people going for the in-form Jags to get beaten by a mid-table side
  19. Don't know if anybody's noticed but now that we are on the move we can actually move off the bottom of the table if we win our two games in hand. It would need to be by a combined total of 39 goals so mibby a bit of a stretch.
  20. Great performance today from the lads and has been said it could and probably should have been a win. I was in two minds at the end, happy to get a point on the board but strangely disappointed that it wasn't all three. The game was there for the taking and a goal we got disallowed was blatantly onside. Looks like a different prospect playing Thistle for the rest of the season and we will difinitely pick up more points and even a win or two.
  21. Even better the bold Kennie has taken pity on us and rescheduled Saturday's game, we won't be getting beaten by St Roch's, at least not just yet.
  22. It won't be packed mate, the plight of the Thistle this season and the fact it's a league game will keep the home crowd down. Maybe a few more than normal but nowhere near packed. The best we can hope for is that the weather keeps up and we get a postponement, things might be happening behind the scenes and who knows we might get some players in, a rescheduled midweek game for the light nights with us having picked up a few points before it would probably see a much bigger crowd.
  23. Not so much a bounce as a dull thud as the team hit rock bottom Unfortunately it's become a sub plot within the league as the other teams compete with each other to see who can score the most. The way the Benburb coaching staff were roaring to get the ball back and go again after every goal you'd think it had been us who were winning. Well maybe not
  24. If you could say for definite that there were plans in place for some sort of improvements however gradual, most people would be on your side and support you as it's obvious you haven't got money to make sweeping changes right away. An issue I have heard other clubs have with you is that you pay a nominal sum to the council for the hire of the park for two hours then the rest of the money you raise goes towards players, hence your progress up the leagues. Other clubs have the running of their facilities to pay which leaves them a lot less in the pot for players, when you couple this with the match experience at Rossvale that is where some of the resentment is coming from.
  25. Unfortunately these community facilities seem to be the way ahead for a lot of junior teams, including eventually my own. Any team that has its own ground in a sellable location is vulnerable to a possible ground buyout, albeit with some of the replacement grounds being at least a bit better than the rest (Carluke, Petershill for example)
