My mate at works a Shire fan and he said they've signed Luke Rankin up for next season but he wasn't sure if it was permanent or another loan.

Given his record for them this season, I reckon he'd be worth backing for us if we stay in league one, possibly a step to high at present for him if we go to championship

I'd be very dubious about that. At the very least we'd offer him an extension and they'd need to pay us a development fee.

There's absolutely no doubt about that. Rice generally signed well but struggled badly with setting up a team, not helped by his constant changing of personnel and formation. We were invariably disjointed and it was the quality of individual players that often pulled us through.

in part due to Rice's Alloa being clueless,

I'm still of the opinion that this is a bit revisionist. Rice's Alloa team dismantled Stirling here last time aswell and if Wales had his shooting boots it would have been more than 2-0. I'm surprised Stirling were just as bad today.

As I've never held a flare and likely never will I have no idea if your fingers can get chunks blown out them or not. In the interests of public safety though, I'm sure our fans would appreciate some clarification.

Can we see these images which traumatised you so much?

Tbf I think it's more the smoke bombs that are quite powdery. I don't keep them handy for curiosities sake, they're not pleasant.

For me flares are fine, with one caveat. Hold them in your hand, above your head, and they add to the spectacle. They make for good pictures and do no damage.

Just don't throw them. They burn very hot and can do serious damage to anyone unlucky enough to have one land on them or the pitch.

I must say I'm traumatised from seeing the images of folks fingers getting chunks blown out them though so you can feel free to hold on to it. I'll not be doing that.

  5. Can't see past Alloa giving Stirling a nudge towards the relegation playoff although we've been generous lately.

Only team worse off than Stirling in terms of form are Edinburgh. Thought there was a fair bit of negativity despite us making more than enough chances to win the game against Annan, by law of averages we'll surely start converting some of those opportunities soon™

Both Cove and Hamilton are operating higher football budgets than Falkirk, this was confirmed by their own directors at TFS. In fact there are players at Cove still on part time contracts earning more than any of falkirks full time players.

But surely not from just Cove. Would be from their part time job too? They are fishing in the really low end full-time market like QoS. That's a lot of cash wasted if they have  similar budgets.

Had a friend who went to hospitality at yours and he heard boasting about how much falkirk were paying a player and I about fell off my chair. I'm assured this person was in the know too.

Says who? It's undeniably been a shambles of a season. We should as a minimum, have been in the promotion playoffs and not still looking over our shoulder. The idea we have a bigger budget than Falkirk though sounds nonsense. I'd imagine we'll also be behind Hamilton.

There's a persistent rumour that Falkirk have the third biggest budget in the league, which I'm incredibly dubious about. I don't imagine Cove will come close to Falkirk and Hamilton's outlay either so it gives me a chuckle whenever someone says it.

Tallest man on the park and check the space he found himself in 🙈

The highlights includes the kick on taggart because he got a big wallop and couldn't move - however as captain I think you need to talk to your teammates and say - mark him for me I need a minute.

We still have a chance, but I personally don't think that we're good enough to go up. The team is getting old and more than a few changes are required.

Anyway, back to the main event. Congrats to Falkirk for going up in style. You've endured a few shite years but now you're back. Enjoy your night and good luck for next season.

I think whoever does go up will get a bit of a poisoned chalice. Okay the money is substantial but you will be ground down by the quality step up in the Championship. Not saying anyone would do a Brechin but it would be hard going scraps every week. League 1 on the other hand seems relatively open and inviting.

Weird mingling of surnames, first names and nicknames in all these posts about  Alloa players.

    I think it's a status thing.

I petition never to call Buchanan by his surname again.

He will only be known as his nickname "steg" from now on.

I really like Luke Donnelly but he's a player that struggles to fit into our system. When he's playing as the most advanced of our midfielders I think that it takes a bit away from the midfield as a whole. I wonder if his best position for us would be as the main striker (not that he's displacing Bobby Wales). It would be a bit unconventional as he likes to drop deep and he isn't an out and out goalscorer, but if you were to pair him with two wide players who would support him and a number 10 who was able to run beyond it might work.

Mind you I'm pretty sure that he played wide right when he came on loan to us from Celtic.

I do think that. Having him in the 18 yard box defending seems really counter-intuitive to me. He's the best at holding the ball up when his footwork is up to scratch, I wouldn't fancy being the one trying to get the ball off him. Leave him as the outball and get balls into his feet - or head because he's still a big bean pole.

Wonder if Cammy wasn't fully fit? Felt Robbo was poor today, we usually have Cammy or Ethan overlapping and putting crosses in but Robbo just played backwards 90% of the time. Our full backs attacking and playing high has been one of our strengths this season.

Struck me against Kelty that he didn't look fit. He didn't want the ball on Tuesday and the only reason you play within yourself like that is because you're saving yourself. I did try to get Andy to elaborate on injuries but he wasn't having it as an excuse. Recent weeks we've had performances a plenty and then strong players coming off the bench. Couple games now we've toiled and no real impact subs. Even Kurtis Roberts looked tired. Although he's needing to calm down with his shooting from range too😅
