  1. The ball is on the penalty spot and the opposition are doing everything they can to delay the kick. Well it feels like that anyhow.
  2. When a club goes into administration it is nearly always down to making bad financial decisions. The Rangers/Newco scenario is far worse because they've had the polis at their door.
  3. Even if the attempt to rig the league fails, it will long live with me that it was even attempted.
  4. Newco in the SPL. Doncaster continues in his job. Turnbull Hutton facing a disrepute charge. Will somebody please tell me that none of this will happen?
  5. It's hardly an apology. He deftly shifts the blame when he says: I apologise unreservedly to all for the distress, disruption and difficulty inflicted on the football community, caused entirely by the actions of people who failed miserably to act responsibly during their stewardship of Rangers.
  6. He certainly doesn't have a clue about humility with this quote. If they are really looking at playing in Europe they would stay at Rangers and play because the reality is that, before Norwich play in Europe, Rangers will be back in Europe.
  7. Could we have the dessert so beloved of Mr Brown i.e. the lime jelly with white ice cream?
  8. I wish the Daily Record would give me a job. The first article I'd write would be about the professional (?) career of certain journalists hanging in the balance. These guys have no credibility whatsoever (or so an insider told me).
  9. The survival of 20 clubs hanging in the balance? Is the guy nuts? My club last hosted a league game against Rangers in 1978. A lot of the SFL clubs have never ever hosted a league game against Rangers. What is his logic? If he is that clever let him name the twenty clubs. Ayr United's Sky money in recent years has come only from matches against ICT, Kilmarnock and Hibs. Keevins is aff his heid.
  10. For years I have been hoping that Kilmarnock would buckle under financial pressure (not very nice, I know). In a massive u-turn I now hope that Kilmarnock will, at the very least, keep their heads above water financially. I would hate Kilmarnock to hit the skids for fear that such a scenario would be followed by a media backlash to the effect that it has all been caused by the demise of Rangers. I hate the 'Scottish football needs a strong Rangers' argument and sincerely hope that any club's future misfortune does not cause the media to come out with this. Stuart Cosgrove was quite brilliant on the radio yesterday. He spoke about how ridiculous it was to try and win round the board of Forfar Athletic with talk of Sky money and Scotland's co-efficient. He was right to highlight how out of touch a lot of people are with regard to what makes SFL clubs tick. It reminded me of Doncaster's plan from last year. That was the plan that assumed that Rangers and Celtic colts (are colts not young horses?) would be welcomed into the SFL and that the lower league clubs would be happy with a regionalised set up. He misjudged the mood on both counts although it is beginning to look like Rangers horses colts may indeed be playing in the Third Division soon. Anyway, getting back to the original point, the last thing we want is a 'telt ye' scenario. Inevitably some clubs will feel the pinch but it is ghastly thought that the Record will interview old Rangers players saying that we were all warned and that we only have ourselves to blame. They would totally overlook the point that Rangers in their current form would hardly comprise much of a loss to the SPL or even the SFL for that matter. I mean can anybody name any of the Newco players who are actually box office?
  11. I lost interest at the bit that said: "As Record Sport first revealed............... Yaaaaawwwwnnnnn
  12. Expected to play in the First Division? That is worrying and I don't mean through fear that it might happen. It is worrying that a Glasgow-based national newspaper does not have its finger on the pulse. If you were a Rangers supporter who relied only on the Record you'd hardly have a care in the world.
  13. Booted out of the Southampton tournament. Friendly against Le Havre scrubbed. When will we hear that the trip to Germany is cancelled? More importantly would they be able to fulfil a tie in the Ramsdens Cup? Even in their best case scenario that is what they are going to be faced with. The Ramsdens Cup is not optional. What would the ramifications be?
  14. Me too. Although the tributes to him on the Ayr United facebook page made him look like Mourinho.
  15. I have stood at Somerset for more than fifty years (although I do go home occasionally!) and I have seen bad times (applying for re-election in 1965) and good times (gaun yersel Ally). During that time I have seen fans drift away on flimsy pretexts such as - "Ah stoapped gaun when they pit up the price o the pies". Throughout it I have maintained my resolve through more thin than thick, maintaining that it would take something mega mega mega to tip me over the edge. Right now I am right on the edge. If this blackmail is allowed to succeed then it'll be Troon Juniors or the Medda for me. Sorry to be selfish and personalise this but I think's it's fair to say that my devotion/obstinacy towards Ayr United is mirrored at clubs throughout Scotland. I know that Falkirk, Motherwell, Dundee, Gretna and Livingston have had problems but, as far as I am aware, none of these clubs have had the polis chappin' at their door. Even if this blackmail threat blows away it will definitely never be forgotten.
  16. No point at all. The basic premise of a league structure is the element of competition. Remove that and you are left with............. Come to think of it what are you left with?
  17. Not sure whether I have interpreted it correctly but I thought that they were trying to ram this through without a vote.
  18. The combined business acumen of Richard Branson and Alan Sugar would even struggle to sort out this mess. I have no problem with folk using expressions like 'yous and 'wur' but it hardly befits the spokesman for an alleged multi-million pound consortium.
  19. I liked this bit from RM: Even if our club is reduced to having to play on the streets, then we will follow on from the pavements.
  20. Some beautiful prose on there. It has put me in the mood to write a tender lover letter. Or I will maybe read some Wordsworth instead.
