  1. Right, for weeks I've been holding back in case someone called me a thick twat (or maybe I remembered wrong), but in that Newsnight report I've seen they actually have "1873" as their date on the wall at ibrox, and I'm sure it used to be on the badge or crest. I know they're nouveau riche arrivistes, but I was damn' sure they didn't have 140 years under their belt. Why the sudden "1872" malarkey since HMRC called shenanigans on them? Does 140 really sound that much more than 139? If so, I've got a tower in Paris I'd like to sell for £19,999.995......

This 1872 thing has been confusing me too. I have always thought that they were founded in 1873 and I seem to remember that their Centenary Stand was built in 1973.

  2. Since 1988 Ayr United supporters have had to endure a wearisome taunt: "Ye missed the boat when ye knocked back David Murray". Aye we missed the boat alright - The Titanic! Let's not be bitter though. The Murray taunt is heard no more. P & B members are invited to join me in a song. I will start and the rest of you join in: "Oh it's all gone quiet over there................

  3. Rangers demand urgent appeal hearing over SFA sanctions

By Matt Slater BBC sports news reporter

A Scottish Football Association panel could hear an appeal against the sanctions imposed on Rangers as early as next week.

Hmm....it'll be very interesting to see how this pans out.

Anyone care to place a bet? William Hill, of course :P

Note the word demand. You'd think that they would have learned some humility by now.

  4. I am surprised that Bill Ng has claimed that he watched as Rangers lifted the European Cup Winners Cup in 1972. The match was not screened live. I was at Hampden that night to watch Scotland versus Wales and I watched the highlights from the Rangers game after I got home. The match was definitely not on live television. (Unless my memory is a bit rusty and I'm sure it's not).

  5. I agree with the last few posts. Of all the clubs in the country surely mine would benefit most from stringent rules being applied. After the chancers we have had in charge we do need to send out a clear message to stop these people coming in to football and making a mockery of things. I'm ready for whatever punishment is handed out. I hope the club and supporters get the chance to show it can be done right. It's taken a while but I think most Livi fans have got the message - the hard way.

I panic when Ayr United concede a corner-kick. Even supposing we are 4-0 up and it is the 93rd minute. God knows what it is like for you right now. The financial situation at Ayr has not been all that clever for the last five years. That meant that we had to fight to stay in the Second Division as a part time club with a lot of ex-juniors. Some of them were so bad that they even struggled to get a game when eventually going back to the juniors. On these all-time worst X1 threads a lot of our candidates are from the past few seasons. We have had our share of misery and mediocrity but it now seems like a better option.

  6. So what happened with the SFL? Wasn't today trumpeted as the day for big news?

Or are we so used to deadlines that they now slip bye unnoticed?

Oh and Phantoms-livi-lass and MCL, get a room already!! :P:lol:

Yeah, that's what I thought. In terms of the league structure for next season it looks like business as usual. The clock is ticking towards 8th August and with every passing hour it is difficult to envisage anything other than Livingston playing in the First Division this coming season. I have no problem with that but like many posters on this thread I wish the whole thing would just resolve itself.
