  1. Where the Thomson's furniture place was just down from the old fire station.
  2. I remember the 1st time I seen all the Rangers memorabilia in the Peterhead social club I was quite shocked I thought I had walked into a Rangers pub by mistake As you say really embarrassing that a club would deck out their bar with stuff from an other club I don't think there were any Peterhead stuff on the walls.
  3. Never seen it but going by what you say they would just end up back in the shit if they were getting people subsidising them again. You have to run a club as a business and at the very least try and break even every season.
  4. There isn't. The shared gate ended sometime in the 70s, probably around the same time as the Premier Division was created.
  5. As a side note Robert Turpie was also the guy who fought and won the Shire's battle with the Steedman's to bring them back to Falkirk from Clydebank.
  6. Looking at the Rovers situation as an outsider but Andy C makes a lot of good points. Isn't it time that the Rovers and a few other sides in the 1st division bit the bullet and go part time. Given that your are getting 12-1500 on average you would still have the funds to get a decent squad of part timers. I was speaking to someone who was involved with a few clubs 20 years ago or so recently and he told me that back then you needed an average gate of around 5000 to be able to sustain full time football. I wouldn't think things have changed that much so there must be a few clubs really struggling to hold on to their full time status.
  7. I can understand them getting rid of players if they are wanting to cut back due to finance, but if you are going to get rid of them you should at least have the balls to speak to the people concerned.
  8. Sure he came from Wolverhampton - he was from the Midlands for sure.
  9. She was with Christian and Sied (sp) in last nights eppisode.
  10. They rose from no where in the early 90s when the Marr's pumped a good few quid into them signing a lot of ex senior players. When the Marr's moved to Dundee they eventually went tits up.
  11. I remember seeing Clackmanan, Tulliallan & Halbeath. I remember Halbeath playing a Scottish Cup Quarter Final at Central Park in 1979 against Pollok, still have the programme. They were quite a successful team at that time with quite a few of their squad going senior eventually packed up around 91 or 92.
  12. I was thinking that this morning as I haven't had any post this week then when I was out I passed three of them within the space of 5 minutes and also a guy taking a bag out of a van and putting it in one of those box things the have for the posties on their route. Still no sign of one in my actual street mind.
  13. Feck knows how a council can get away with pissing tax payers money away. If I lived in West Lothian I would be raging over this. £400,000 written off to give 600 folk something to do on a Saturday afternoon. Also why do the SFA/SFL still let them sign players given their finances. Down south both Crystal Palace and AFC Bournemouth had transfer embargos last season due to debt. Bournemouth still have theirs in place despite having a new owner who has paid off some of the debt the FL told them they were still not in a position to add to their wage bill. This after also have 27 points taken off them in the previous two seasons. Why don't the SFL have such a system?
  14. The extra fingers come in handy for playing my banjo God I almost miss the banter with Berwick fans although it's all Livi's fault
  15. The last time we played Elgin you could count the away support on one hand, they don't travel and who can blame them given the distance to the central belt every 2 weeks. How the feck can you sustain full time football on 600 crowds.
  16. Sure it is Albert Tait, former Cowden vice chairman, who is going to be vice chairman of Livi. Think it was in one of the papers.
  17. You just can't make all this shit up. Its getting to the stage they should just chuck the c***s out, wind them up and build houses on Almondvale.
  18. I don't think anyone would have been really that bothered about a programme bill, they would have been more concerned about lost hospitality. If anything if programmes are printed for all of the original games this week collectors will be after them for novelty value of a programme for a game which won't take place.
  19. If you actually had your programme printed for a game it could cost a club a few quid for their printers bill.
  20. You could be right EL, total shambles what timezone is their 9 a.m. announcement meant to be in.
  21. The way things have been going they will tell us at 2.59 p.m. tomorrow that our game with Arbroath is off along with the Airdrie and Livi games.
