  1. Interesting split of opinions from Falkirk fans. Glad that some of you have given Montrose a bit of respect and think it may be a tough game. Although we have given you some tough tests over the last few seasons your team this season have done incredibly well. It was only a couple of seasons ago we won 3-0 at TFS with our assistant manager scoring the 3rd goal; a great day for all Mo fans.

  2. I fancy us to nick a point and maybe spoil the party. After being on a brilliant run our performances the last two games have been very poor. Over the years we have struggled to get up for the games that we are expected to win (like Annan at home) but tend to do well in the big games.

Big occasion for the Mo. Saturday will be a big pay day for our club and will be a big bonus for the local pubs. I'm assuming Falkirk will bring a big crowd. Look forward to the atmosphere.

Really disappointing that the reinforcements that we were promised that were going to arrive early this week haven’t materialised, serious questions for SP if we don’t win on Saturday no? Annan would be my relegation favourites.

Agree the pressure will be on if we don't get anything from the game and although it is very early I think it should be on. Kelty home and Annan away were two fixtures we should be confident about getting 6 points from (no disrespect).

I love SP but you have to wonder. He has managed to get the best out players for years and we have been so successful but with having big name players in Gardyne, McAllister and Hester there is pressure to be more successful.

I agree with that but the goals that he does score are really valuable but I think the buck stops with SP again. We bring in Kane to supplement him but then play him on the bloody wing. Also the fact that Rory is a massive character may be a problem, I think that has a part to do with Batchelor being stripped for 10 mins standing on the sideline ready to go on only to be sent up into the stands to avoid a temper tantrum from Rory. I think the fact that we still have Dillon, Masson, Watson, and Gardyne (combined age 149) is the main problem and that they are all starting on opening day! I think we all agree that Craig Brown is a bang on starter and is a tidy cm but I think if we could convert Blair into a cm we could have that creative cm we are lacking.

But not that valuable to change the style of play and lose our identity. We finished in play off positions four seasons in row until he arrived then we change the style of play and don't have as good a season. He has a terrible influence on everyone else - shouting at team mates, shouting back at fans etc.

4 or 5 years ago we were playing football from the back with some great possession fitba. We were making play offs and in a great place.

We've turned so one dimensional, missing out the midfield and punting the long ball up to McAllister hoping that Hester can somehow latch on to it.

The midfield was so deep today that they were just in front of the defence. The Kelty midfield had so much space that they dominated us.

Unless we get a couple of creative midfielders,  I fear for us this season.

Some Mo fans may not agree with this but the problem is Rory. Yes he will score some goals but as soon as he came in last season we changed our whole style of play to suit him. Why would we change the style of play which has been so successful to suit one player...

If we had Kane through the middle with Webby on the right and Lyons/Machado on the left with a  creative midfielder behind we would be much more of a threat.

  6. Firstly I thought Kelty were really good today. They passed the ball around us really well and were solid defensively.

I didn't have a good feeling about the match but didn't expect that performance. Awful from start to finish. We desperately need some youth and enery in the middle of the park, Watson did fine but shouldn't really be in the first 11. Gardyne is a waste of shirt for me, he offers nothing.

Defensively we don't look good, it'll be a big ask to play Dillo all season now that he has turned 40 and I'm not convinced by Quinn. New CB urgently needed.

Felt really sorry for Kane, he makes some great runs at times but we don't have any clever and creative players in midfield to give him service and so he is trying to play off scraps. No wonder he doesn't look interested at times. There's no way he'll score lots of goals if he is expected just to get knock downs from Rory.

What I really didn't like was our poor discipline and getting on at each other. To see your striker and captain shouting and swearing at each other on the park was not a good sign.

  7. Hope I don't sound too pessimistic but I am worried about this game. I'd imagine all Mo fans were happy when they saw Kelty at home for first game but Kelty have been scoring lots of goals and have had a couple of decent results during pre season and cup games. Mo on the other hand have only really played well in one game (St.Mirren). We haven't got a settled team, particularly midfield. Also what are the chances of CJ scoring against us....

  8. Gardyne will start every week 1) because SP seems to love him and 2) he'll be on big wages.

Bit worried if we don't sign a creative midfielder. Agree with the comments above re wingers being played in different positions, this will be the case all season. We are going to play with Rory and Kane every game which means that Webby and Lyons can't ever play as a winger.

We’ve still got a month left of the window, and I’m reserving judgement until we bring some loans in.

Hope so mate. Couple of additions and we could have a quality squad. Creative midfielder (or 2 please). Also with Dillo just turning 40 and Kerr being injured for half the season there is risk of there not being enough cover at centre half after letting Matty Allan go.

Couldn't agree more. Our midfield is very light. Terry played well today, as you say, what he does best. Gardyne is very lightweight and offers little. All the replacements are very inexperienced.

Glad you agree about Gardyne. There was so much expectation when he came in but he has scored and assisted hardly any goals and doesn't create that much, also I hate his floaty corners.

Also can't work out how we are going to play. Webby was missed today and Lyons is a shadow of the player from a few years ago.

  11. I'm really worried about our midfield. We have two genuine goalscorers but we don't have anyone half decent who can feed the ball through from midfield. Gardyne provides nothing in my opinion, Shreive is well out of his depth and Terry will play Terry's game but isn't particularly creative. We haven't replaced Cammy F, Lewis Milne of McKinnon from last season and it's a problem.

No real surprise as mentioned before seems 2 of them could be off to Forfar and a think you might see Lewis Milne at Kelty or Edinburgh city some place closer to home.Heard their could be a few more out the door yet so could be a bigger rebuild than first imagined.

Goalkeeper wise I've heard a name, decent goalkeeper from what I remember and local so fingers crossed we get that one over the line. Would stick with the young lad as back up and let Lennox go which will probably happen anyway.Had high hopes for Lennox when he first arrived but it's just not been the best of times for him at Montrose looks shot of confidence and theirs an error in him every couple games now especially this season anyway.

Kelty is a good shout. I'm sure Lewis used to or maybe still does work for Joe Cardle's football academy so there is a link there to Kelty.

Can confirm Watson’s goal was in fact a great finish. We should have been out of sight before then with missed chances, and their winner was due to more awful defending.

there have been many disappointing performances and results this season, but to still be in with a chance of the playoffs with 2 games remaining would point to a fairly successful season. SP will say that 8th place was the target at the start of the season. I would put the downturn in form to Sinclair being recalled in January. He was a huge loss. Not having a fixed right back all season has hurt us badly. I think that’s why Webby’s form dipped. Hopefully having Williamson in there will allow Webby to keep playing further forward in his natural position.

Whatley and Matty both appear to be off to Forfar. Whatley hasn’t really done much in his time here, would have liked to see Matty stay with the 2 year deal he wanted. He’s played nearly every game including playing out of position. Would imagine Callaghan will be on his was too

if rumours are to be believed we already have another keeper signing up, think we need more cover at CB with only Quinn there and we have no cover for Steeves either, only Liam really filled in there if needed. We will need midfielders and other striker as well. Not sure what we’ll get from Gardyne, can’t really see what he’s brought to the team in his time here.

Who is the keeper you have heard we are signing?
