  1. Results don't really matter, but individual performances and improvement do, but if you are being set up to be cannon fodder against Premier League reserves there isn't much point is there, I thought the whole idea was to get injured players minutes, it did against Dundee with Telfer and Watson playing, We are carrying a decent sized squad, I don't understand how Todorov, McStravick, Megwa are not topping up their fitness or trying to get some confidence in front of goal in these games, It's all about progression for young players to try and earn a first team shot, looks like a costly exercise is it worth it
  2. He was sent off in the 7 nil trouncing by Livi in the first reserve game, suspended for the next game the draw with Dundee I believe, in between times after his red card he was promoted to start in first team against Univ of Stirling, since then he hasn't made the squad, which is what happens when you carry a reasonable sized squad.. The lad is knowhere near ready to be anywhere near a championship 11.
  3. Did big Dunc manage to use his contacts to bring in any last minute loans, thought a couple of Celtic players were heading your way, according to the west of Scotland rags that is
  4. Good post, we have to stay humble we are doing well at the moment, form etc can turn on a blow of a whistle. The squad is at 21 (was last week) although a couple in that group are complete novices e g. Dunlop and G Gall, we still have the annoying Keeper backup situation, let's be honest that should have been sorted long before now .. "Quality signings" was a quote from the manager in the close season.. I think all the guys and gals that actually go to the games are enjoying it and are strapped in for the ride, wherever it takes us.. Onto yesterday and Cappielow was actually decent enough, last time I was there was in the stand and the kneecapping was all I could remember.. Hasn't changed much if at all since the days of Nipper Lawrence putting them to the sword.. Storm Agnes didn't really materialise I think it was just standard Greenock fair.. back to the comfort of the Excelsior next week , spoiled...
  5. Good 3 points hard place to go, unusual game, Airdrie didn't have to be great, but we seem a lot.more durable than at times last season with largely the same personnel. We still overplay it a little too much, goalscoring opportunities are few and far between, and that Achilles heel could well haunt us as the season goes on.. Morton have some good players , they seemed to me a little short of sharpness all over the park, where as we were very sharp, Cappielow is a hard place to go and get a result... Not really sure what happened to McGregor at Morton last year, still just a young lad, and is improving and seems in a decent place now, l Took his goal well, which is one of his weaknesses.. As strip's go that Away kit must be up there with the best...
  6. Come on, that's the delights of football, for years we have been slagging off our stadium as soulless etc, longing for the days of the terracing etc, we get an old skool day at Morton and we moan...about a bit of rain.
  7. Another positive that hasn't been picked up on is our impressive increase on the home support.. Under Bollan, EWB and for most of Murray's tenure our home support was between 650 and 800 max I would say, since Rhys has came in a steady increase due no doubt to word of mouth due to winning games and scoring goals, bringing the feel good factor back, culminating in this season with probably 1200 maybe slightly more home fans coming to the games, a rough 70 percent increase. That's decent and the club deserves credit for this , we have came a long way from sub 500 crowds on boxing Day, that we had a good few years back. What is our ceiling home crowd wise though, IMO not much more than we have.. We will never get the crowds of Dunfermline, Partick etc
  8. Was that the main stand it the small seated area in front of the shed.
  9. Where is the best place to park, I used to park before the park hand side, think it has been regenerated since then it's been a few years.. Is there a car park behind the home end on the hill, looks quite small ,( Google maps)
  10. Where were the fans located at Cappielow last night, main stand, so not only did you get a doing on the park, you got a kneecapping off it... We are heading down to get soaked behind the goal on Saturday, but expect a miserable late October midweek tie in the next round.. canny wait... Good luck the rest of the season, for what it's worth Rice is another media favourite and there are plenty abound, I have never seen the attraction in the tinker man, always got the impression he never puts much pressure on the people above him., seems to be happy just to have a gig..
  11. No chance of Brown or any recently sacked manager, he will still be getting paid by his last club, probably a lot more than ICT will pay him, that's the crazy world of Football management at all levels now , you might be sacked but they still pay you your salary until it expires or you mutually agree a severance package normally in the final year of contract... Imrie for me, or a longshot Paul Sheerin
  12. Very good win , the standard is so much higher than we have been used to, Raith I was slightly disappointed in with players of the calibre of Easton who seemed hamstrung out on the left, Vaughan who only got a few minutes, is Murray too negative and unable to incorporate his best players, he hasn't change much eh.. Airdrie with a totally changed defence once they settled were good, Hancock, Cammy, Aiken the pick of the bunch , with no real failures, if I have a concern it is chance creation, we created very little again, albeit we scored the perfect goal, we don't look a particularly high scoring team, which could be our Achilles heel as the season progresses.. One week left of the loan window, the squad looks deeper than recent seasons, is that it, or do we have more to come on, apart from back up keeper I think that will be us until January when the squad will be reassessed again
  13. Wouldn't be surprised if it was a left field appointment Charlie Mulgrew seems to fit the bill, would be a laugh right enough... Looking forward now to Ayr pulling the pin on Bullen soon, once the first manager is bagged the next isn't far behind.
  14. Totally agree, been crying out for better players all summer... .. Fair point regarding the recordings
  15. Your right this is the High risk, High reward we talk about, 2 down late on, push players up if you lose 2 in the break, then that's fine.. a lot of us are making opinions on the footage, I tend to rely on real time and make my mind up of what I actually see at the game, just had a look at the league stats we have only had 11 shots on target in 5 games, therein lies the problem, and cannot continue if we are to win games..
  16. Is Wotherspoon still hanging around at the pars, do you guys still need him after signing a few and getting players back..
  17. Having watched the footage back and everybody giving a half assed autopsy on the game and the McCabe incident, at the time albeit behind the goal, I thought Fordyce was going to take control of the situation, did he shout to Rhys and make a mess of it, where were the rest of the defence McCabe messed up, Fordyce messed up with no defensive cover.. it did remind me of the home defeat to Edinburgh last season... let's not let Fordyce off Scot free it was shameful defending from him for the 3rd and 4th goals... Moving forward IMo we have a lot of impact players starting, players are probably playing above their level, this was always the risk resigning players that finished 3rd in the league below. McGregor, O Connor, McGill , are the main players who are struggling, what can we do, not an awful lot, we need Telfer fit, Todorov utilised more and, we still have 3 Loanee slots available, do we really think after all this time, we will get the players we really need....
  18. Would think you will get the away stand, what's your travelling support like these days, plenty room though it holds over 2.5k
  19. Did Fordyce cover himself in glory at any of the goals, watch them back. 1st, poor 3rd and 4 th well you decide, McCabe is taking the hit on here, the assistant mangaer is equally culpable
  20. I heard we still had budget to spend, that's why I said it, very limited pool now though, loanees from Premier clubs who want more wages covered than we would possibly want, This has been done to death on here, over the summer, but Rhys has had a poor window again "only signing players that will be better than we have". Or " only signing players that are of the right attitude and can be developed and improved". Massive difference on the mantra is it not.... In saying that, i think we have a lot more full time players than we think , are Spalding, Fellows, Cassidy, Watt etc full time, we are running a reserve team as well this season, which will not come cheap, players wages, coaches, travel etc, The big question is should we have went down that route this season, should all the finance be forced into the first team for survival at all costs and think about about it for next season when we are a more established championship club, one thing I will guarantee if things go Pete tong this season, them the reserve team will be scrapped anyway, no chance that expense can be run by a L1 club of our size..
  21. We all love a scapegoat, McCabe this week. Is it, he was poor who got pass marks. ???? , We all know the centre of defence is painfully slow, we needed an upgrade this season we didn't get it, backup centre half Cassidy is miles of it, so it is what it is.. I don't get the McMaster, McCabe debate, although they cannot play in the same team, McCabe has far more attributes than McMaster, we need Telfer back fit for more options, actually our biggest problem is in the final third, scoring goals keeps you in the league, Gall most of this season is playing as a false 9, relying on advanced wingers with pace, McGregor and O Connor are ok but not championship level, that's fact.... we are the worst in the league with shots on target , we need to change it up, why sign Todorov and only give him 15 mins and say he is pish as well, he needs a run of games is a proven championship goalscorer... We are in the start of a tailspin there is no Clyde, Peterhead, kelty triple headers to get you out of a slump, we have 2 weeks left of the backstop final last minute loan deals, we have been waiting on quality signings all close season, surely we need to prop this squad up with something..
  22. Come on play the game, we go away get deservedly beaten, you say we play good football, and it will massage our ego again... Go on be fair
  23. Airdrie surprisingly playing it safe, no option but to go longer, need Todorov and McGill up top second half, , big half ahead this will show what Airdrie have in the locker....
  24. For me McCabe is an automatic starter, as a leader, goal threat etc, he brings so much more to the table than McMaster who is a modern day dot to dot footballer, good player at what he does.. unless of course ATS doesn't make it and Rhys slips into the defence... As you say McGill continues to toil badly, he has been caught out technically in this league and our style of play now doesnt really suit his reckless style, for me magic on the right and McGregor on the left both can switch as required... I am going for a Desmond in this game..
