  1. Another thing to note is that the WOS Premier is not done and dusted yet and Auchinleck can catch Beith so they may well be in the playoff mix too. I know we beat them in the cup but going down there would be a different proposition.
  2. That’s a really good point. I agree the season has been great for the most part and maybe the league was all that mattered. But winning is a mentality and you don’t just switch it on or off. We need to finish strong and be ready for the playoffs
  3. It was the same a few weeks earlier against Inverkeithing when we lost a very winnable cup semifinal. I thought at that point we could still Hibs the league but a good win at Dunbar coupled with Kinnoulls surprise win at Musselburgh took all the pressure off. Will be good to be confirmed champions and that will make it a very good year but I still think it could have been a great year for the club and for the very hard working committee who put in endless hours.
  4. No I don’t really subscribe to that. The wins at Dunbar and Dundonald wrapped up the league (even if not mathematically). Last night was a chance to add icing and a cherry onto the cake but they failed miserably. It was a similar story against Inverkeithing a couple of weeks back. It maybe a long season has caught up with them but it’s been a real struggle for a bit save an excellent performance away to Tranent and Dunbar in the last few months.
  5. I think outwith the normal starting 11 there are only a few more who add much to the team. To compete even at mid level in the Lowland league we need about 5-6 new players.
  6. The worst thing was so many of them didn’t look interested given a good chance to prove what they can do. Felt sorry for the keeper who was at least trying to keep them going and was pretty much blameless on what was going on in front of him.
  7. Terrible attitude tonight and you have to say the management have to take some of the blame for this. After the disappointment to Inverkeithing you would have thought they would have got them up for this. But it appears not. Maybe the league is all they care about but a lot of people turned up tonight paying good money to see that dross.
  8. Well done to Glenrothes tonight. But a woeful and gutless performance from Broxburn. That’s now two cups they had a great chance of winning gone by the wayside to relegation strugglers (who thoroughly deserved both victories). Winning the league will paper over some of the cracks but they have let what could have been a great season slip from their grasp.
  9. Division 1 is a tough league to get out of. The teams coming up from League 2 are very decent and there are a number of clubs who will not be promoted this year all looking to go up next year. Broxburn have played a number of teams from this league over the past couple of years and can’t remember them ever having an easy victory.
  10. A win for Luncarty would all but confirm Kinnoull’s relegation as well due to there poor goal difference. Along with it being a local Derby it could be very spicy .
  11. If Broxburn don’t go up does that mean 4 relegated from Premier?
  12. Yes, a great win last night at a place we have found very difficult in the last few years. Always been impressed with Dunbar, play some really good stuff and last night was no different. Would have settled for a point but getting all three is brilliant. Need to now focus on another tricky away trip to Dundonald. Getting close but not there yet, so keeping concentrated on the next game is vital.
  13. I think Musselburgh’s chances of winning 7 from 7 is what will help Broxburn probably win the league rather than my faith in Broxburn closing it out. Hope I’m wrong as they do deserve it. Been consistent all season even when not playing well
  14. Poor again yesterday. Although they had the bulk of possession didn’t think they created much until Nimmo came on. Leith had a number of good chances but didn’t really test the keeper until near the end. In a cup tie it’s all about getting through so in that respect it’s job done. League far from a done deal on recent performances. Confidence looks low which is really surprising considering where they are in the league. Tricky game next week
  15. Thought Swifts were good value for their win. Broxburn’s only real chance when it was 11v11 was the missed penalty. Could and probably should have scored again (good double save by Broxburn keeper). Only when they got a man dismissed in 75 minutes did Broxburn get back into it. They did hang on a bit and some last ditch goalkeeping and defending preserved their lead but were the better team overall.
  16. It’s difficult to criticise management due to where we are. Felt the last couple of games we could have done with natural width much earlier. We got out of jail against Swifts but not against Glenrothes. Always thought this would be a tricky game and still can’t believe they are so low down in the league having seen them match Broxburn all the way twice.
  17. I’d prefer Broxburn to just to concentrate on one game at a time and take care of their own results and forget what goes on elsewhere. It’s firmly in their hands so it doesn’t really matter what goes on elsewhere. If they do that they will get their day. Thought early yesterday there was a bit of a feeling of “we just have to turn up to win”. That got a severe jolt from Swifts. It may turn out to be a good reminder for the rest of the season and the upcoming Cup-tie.
  18. Think that now 23 points taken from losing positions. Only Dunbar have seen it through. First half was like watching the season’s under Chris Townsley. No pace in midfield and no width. Nimmo and Bremner made a huge difference as did Downie. Pagey had a mare but he is entitled to several free passes as he has been outstanding all season. Can’t fault teams attitude and never say die application.
  19. Great result for Broxburn tonight without playing. They can return Luncarty the favour with a win against Inverkeithing on Saturday. Need to keep focus and take it one game at a time
  20. 3 points for South in the first 5 games then 9 straight wins in the league. Could make a late run for promotion
  21. I think after todays results it’s now Broxburn’s to lose. Great fight back fro 2-0 down. Tricky games to come but the challengers also face such games
  22. Broxburn’s last 11 games are 3 versus top 6 and 8 against the bottom 9. But as we can see from the Jeanfield result today nothing will be easy
