  1. From when I started watching football, I think Stenhousemuir are the only ever-present (1989-2024) side to never reach the second tier.
  2. Summer window not even open and it's already massively underwhelming.
  3. I was open to it. We obviously didn't know how it would go but at least you knew it wasn't definitely going to be a disaster. The best appointments are always going to have a risk attached. Go for the safe option and you invite mundanity. Within a few weeks he'd signed the centre back pairing (including the captain) from the champions and you knew we were heading back in the right direction.
  4. If you were offered a completely clean slate in the summer, how many of the current squad are you keeping?
  5. That jumper looks like it should have Kickers emblazoned across the chest. £45 from House of Fraser in 1999.
  6. Theo Bair to score with 4 minutes left on the final day, despite Motherwell already being on the beach, to equalise at Fir Park and send St Johnstone into the play-offs and inevitable defeat.
  7. On the positive, at least Callum Davidson is nearer a relegation.
  8. It's old ground but the the Zander Clark we had between about this time 2021 and him leaving was very, very different to the guy in goals for the 18 months or so before that, where he reached Graeme Smith levels of ineptitude. Mitov is right up there for me and the only reason he won't be spoken about in the long-term is because he'll only be here for a maximum of two seasons.
  9. As someone who can quite easily find faults in players, I've no complaints about Mitov, he's been a great signing and is a really good and reliable keeper. I've never given a toss whether goalkeepers can kick the ball straight or not, especially if they keep it out of the net.
  10. I am still really struggling to buy into this manager and this squad. I just can't see what the plan is. Are we really setting out to play as little football as we do? We defended alright yesterday (goal was poor) but still needed some big saves from Mitov. And our opener was fine in a performance where you are solid and look to hit on the break but there will always be opportunities in games to actually move the ball about and we just don't do it. I feel Levein hides behind chat about confidence a lot but I just don't see how him and Kirk are trying to set us up. It was hard to even tell yesterday if we were (as I thought) a back four - but with no width - or, as the manager referenced post-game a back three. I understand he's not going to talk about making big changes in the summer when there is still work to do with this group but that doesn't excuse the style of play, or lack of. There is no identity and that's what we are crying out for.
  11. No. Was it ever established how long his contract was actually for? Of the current FB/WB options, Drey Wright is the only one that has any case to be here next season if we are serious about improving.
  12. This must be a first, no Saturday commentary when there is a full card (minus one game)? I guess this will allow them though to continue talking about the Old Firm well past 3:00pm, as well as in the hour before. Macintyre will be insufferable.
  13. If this was Championship Manager, the game would definitely be getting deleted.
  14. Levein talking about MacPherson getting a good pre-season. Done.
  15. We look a poorly coached team, on top of obviously not having a good squad. We have too many players who don't own a position. A squad should have a few versatile guys that help pad out numbers but we have too many of them. Too many who have played in far too many roles this season, rather than nailing down one. Rip it up and start again.
  16. Can we play a back four and two strikers tomorrow? Then I remember we have no wide midfielders... What a horrendous squad.
  17. Only thing I remember about him is he came on at Hamilton got a great chance at the back post and fresh aired it.
  18. Things might well get worse before they get better if we go down but history shows they do always get better. It's very hard to envisage how things turn around if we remain a Premiership club, firefighting every summer. There isn't talent in this squad that just needs moulded into a team, the whole lot of them are basically rubbish and need emptied, so next season will just be more of the same with the sort of strike rate a club like Saints gets with Premiership signings. Go down a level, keep the players with both potential for improvement and the heart for a fight, and compete against teams we have a chance against when it comes to attracting players. It might take a few seasons but try and build something from a more realistic base. Survival at all costs is short-term thinking.
  19. Doesn't say much for Levein that he's having to call out Connor Smith only weeks after signing him on a multi-year deal. Literally no idea what his position is either. What does he do?
  20. It's why I don't fear relegation as I can't see any way we stop swimming against the tide as a Premiership club. I've felt that way for three seasons now and, as you say, I'm just exhausted. There are painful moments after every relegation but we've always returned and it's when we do that the foundations laid in the second tier bring us success.
