  1. Genuinely sick of seeing fans on here or on Facebook as if we should be competing for everything and should be keeping our best players. I don't know if they're outright daft or stuck in the CIS Cup glory days. I'm glad we have a bunch of guys, be it players, managers, directors at the club who are looking up and forward rather than backwards trying to replicate. The constant negativity around the club, generated by some fans really will be driving people away and stopping them coming back. In a perfect world we'd have fans who back the club no matter what and can take a look at the cards on the table and deal with what we have now rather than what we had. I always take the time, be it at my work or wherever just to talk the club up. You never know who's listening and even having a few positive things stick in someone's mind about the club can help their decision to return. I think some amongst ourselves need to take stock and have a think through about where the club is at currently and adjust expectations accordingly. Getting more fans in should be the biggest aim for all of us, building up a strong core of a fan base from what we have and making use of the things the club offers. I'd personally enjoy seeing the drum that's sat behind the desk at the reception for 6-9 months get used. The players all paid for it and want a bit of atmosphere at the games, it would only be fair to repay what we've seen on the pitch this season. Having a section set out for a bit of atmosphere would be brilliant, given we had it back in the day with the DBM. It can be invaluable and you see it now at games where it can all fall a bit flat and noiseless. Not sure if there's anyone on here that's interested in anything like that but even to get a group of 10-20 folk in one area to bring a bit of life to the games would be brilliant. Away games have always been a laugh, St Mirren away when we went top of the league sticks in my mind for so many good reasons. We just need to go about it the right way and all build the club up together. The time is now for us all to try and use the foundation laid from the last year and a bit with John Ward coming in and good football being played. We can take it to the next level and do what we can to help make the club the best it can be or we can sit around and moan on Facebook about how they should be signing the best players up to £1k a week with a free house () despite not having the fans to back up the club's finances
  2. Don't get why everyone's getting so pessimistic over Carrick leaving, he did next to nothing. He has nothing but pace, Robinson is twice the player. Not sure why all alarms are set to panic here, Mullin is going to leave and for some cash. Good, that's what we're here to do. We're a selling club, we don't have the fans or the finances to be anything other than that. Until we're able to stump up 2k fans we will be in a relegation fight and be selling our guys on for cash. Hopkin has done brilliant replacing the guys that have left so far and I have total faith that he'll continue to do so. There's no point in us breaking the bank to try take a shot at glory, look where it got us before. We're where we are due to the hard work done by Hoppy over the last few years, the pay off from that won't ever be playoffs or promotion. It's always going to be more revenue into the club and attempting to invest it smartly and to keep us alive. We can't afford anything else. I think a few people have their heads in the clouds, if players don't perform well, they can go. Carrick had around 7 goals in 41 games for us, he's never a Championship standard player and as such has moved on. If the team gets smashed apart, so be it. As long as we still have a club at the end of the day. We can't afford to keep players who are well above our level as a club, re: Halkett, Pittman, Byrne, Mullen and Mullin. Our biggest selling point to players wanting to join us is that we're a stepping stone. We have a good track record of getting players moves and advancing their careers. We're paying part time wages on a full time scheme, by rights we should be scrapping at 8th place but Hopkin has done well and proved himself. This also means that there'll come a time where we lose him, that's my biggest worry. Not losing any of the current players but losing Hopkin who seemingly has pulled the club together at all ends and has everyone working towards a common goal and fighting for each other rather than everyone undercutting each other for power. My biggest worry is who we replace Hopkin with, that's the biggest challenge within the next 6 months to 3 years given on when and where he goes. I haven't a clue who I'd take a look at for it whatsoever. For the time being though can't we all enjoy perhaps the best time in the clubs history for the last 5-7 years?
  3. Her to the courts is the biggest transfer news in Livi all January
  4. I think Mackin is too inconsistent and Toddy doesn't offer more than just pure hustle. We need a big guy that can play consistently and offer something new to the team. I think the secret would be playing Rafa up top to be honest but I doubt Hoppy will go for it
  5. Robinson is an AM but looks a good fit up front, Boyd is a striker though is he not?
  6. The way we're playing is to go down the wings and go inside or launch the ball up top for Mackin/Todorov to bring down and hold it up for the other striker. Could work well if the rumour is right
  7. While I'm here I might as well ask, what's Ryan Hardie like? We've been linked with him a fair bit
  8. Cadden and De Vita are more strikers under Hopkin, we've established Knox isn't good enough so far and although often injured Robinson has been a striker as well. Brown has been injured all season so that leaves Jacobs, but he doesn't play on the left like Penrice does. Rafa has struggled out on the wing and looks a lot better as a striker
  9. Apparently it's a like for like change for Penrice, Thompson can play LB/LWB/CM (?) so will likely be played out wide for us going up the wing and tracking back rather than in the middle. Likely he'll fit in on the left in our 352 system and we'll depend on him covering the left side of things defensively and offensively
  10. Heard he can play LWB/LB/CM. Essentially a like for like change for Penrice, even if he's not as good
  11. Sounds like he won't fit in all that well given our midfield is built around a high tempo and work ethic essentially splitting everything up in the middle of the park
  12. We've signed Jordan Thompson on loan till the end of the season - what's he like? Was with you guys last season right? We've been pretty good at highlighting good players to bring in on loan, hopefully the kind of midfielder that will push everything and try break up the play. Likely he'll be replacing Penrice though as a driving midfielder though, possibly on the left
  13. Rangers Academy midfielder Jordan Thompson signs for us on loan till the end of the season, he's out of contract at the end of the season. Anyone else remember the last time we got a player from that club in those circumstances?
  14. Think the brief of it was that, there are many many more Falkirk fans that are genuine and decent folk. They're being tarred with the same brush as those that acted in a completely unacceptable way. It would be unfair to punish a club, and therefore their fans for the actions of a few people who can barely be regarded as fans of the team given they knew what they were doing. I have a lot of respect for people who support their local team, and as such help on their local community rather than buying into the 'glory hunting' of the Old Firm. I've very little to no respect for Rangers/Celtic fans from Livingston given the fact there's a good team on their doorstep that they're neglecting. This of course extends to local fans of clubs around the country
  15. There's c***s on each side of it, it shouldn't tar the club and the rest of their fans though. There's having a laugh at games, and on here where we all 'hate' each other and have our bit of banter and it's all a laugh at the end of the day. Then there's the folk that genuinely want to go out their way and do the worst things imaginable. I might have a go at Falkirk and their fans and call them a diddy team here and there () but there's 100% a good amount of you lot that are good guys and at the end of the day a good laugh here. It goes without saying that the folk that go out of their way to cause the hassle that's already been dragged up aren't really fans of any team whatsoever. It'd be wrong and disrespectful to Falkirk and their fans to link what happened at the weekend to fans who support their local team weekly when they could easily just go on and watch one of the ugly twins from Glasgow.
  16. Think it is 3 actually, either way, Horrible scheduling by all involved
  17. Really down to the shit choice of date, and time. 2pm midweek kickoff in Inverness is the dumbest thing I've heard for a while
  18. I'm honestly fairly embarrassed for the club and players, it wasn't that long ago that they all shelled out to buy a drum to create atmosphere during the games. It's still sitting behind the reception having never been picked up, I'd completely forgot about it until I had to ask. Anyone fancy picking it up?
  19. I don't really know of another CB who's comparable to him in this league
  20. Halkett easily the best CB in the Championship by some way, absolutely solid defender who rarely makes mistakes and chips in with goals. Joint top for us now I think.
  21. We're officially out the race, he's going to either ICT or Raith, ICT offered a house and double what we'd pay He's been offered a 2 year extension, not much more you need to know We run on a small scale full time operation, there's some part time teams that offer more wages than us easily. Given our wage cap is roughly 500pw I doubt we're living outwith our means
  22. It seems like you know everything about what goes on inside the club, care to elaborate? As far as I know the debt owned to previous directors are either gone or very reduced now. We've had a budget and stuck to it, what more do you want? We won't be racking up debt as is and we're performing well. I'm failing to see what there is to be negative about right now as a Livi fan????
