  1. How long before Stanley Johnson or Basil Brush get the gig?
  2. The two of them offer something different that defences don’t like. Sneddon niggles away and Doherty is very awkward to defend against. The extent to which they miss games through injury might be the difference between winning the league or not this season. Heaver is a very good player but as someone else has said his best position is not as the main striker. Early days but not convinced many of the new signings have strengthened things. Hope I am wrong.
  3. Saw Fletcher play for Stoke towards the end of last season. Coming back up here isn’t suddenly going to make him be able to run again and he is likely to spend half the season injured. This looks like a massive gamble and possibly a serious waste of money.
  4. Was at the game yesterday and didn’t know Mark was retiring. One of the real good guys. Done an incredible job over the years building Blackburn from where they were. All the best to him.
  5. Any guesses as to when the variant klaxon will next be heard?
  6. In some parts of England it is pronounced ‘cut el ry’ . I suppose if you split it to ‘cutle ry’, it makes some sort of sense.
  7. Asking people in Fauldhouse to kick something orange??
  8. VoL first win of the season. Genuinely cannot believe that the team I saw get pumped 5 1 at Pumpherston can have won at Boness. There must have been huge changes in personnel.
  9. Anywhere that has ‘Disney’ in the name of the venue.
  10. Harrington made a terrible call putting Poulter out in the foursomes. He was all over the place at Wentworth. Pairing him with someone who is struggling with his short game just compounds the error.
  11. I was at the game. It wasn’t even Pumpherton’s full first team that was playing. They had 2 guys who between them could have accounted for about 80 years and 30 odd stone. One of them scored twice. They knew in advance they would get away with it. But for poor finishing from Pumphy it should have been 7 or 8. If Brechin have anything at all about them they should be looking to score double figures in the Scottish Cup game next week. I am actually surprised that the Celtic and Rangers B teams only managed 9 or 10 goals against them. I felt sorry for the bunch of kids playing for VoL ….I don’t think they had a player over the age of about 21/ 22. I think they only had 2 substitutes. Some of the players should simply not be on the pitch at that level. In a ‘crowd’ of about 45 I am not sure what representation there was from the VoL committee……my guess is very little, if any at all. It shows how badly Scottish club football has been led for years. The old ‘Senior/ junior’ issue should have been addressed a long time ago but endless suits at the SFA and SPL / SPFL did nothing about it. Hopefully the recent changes see things improve dramatically. There should be no shenanigans allowed from the ‘traditional’ League 2/ Lowland clubs. What was on evidence yesterday was a very amateur set up that would actually have shamed some clubs at that level.
  12. The stuff at the end was all on the players and benches. A real shame as the committee people and volunteers from both clubs who put in endless hours deserve better than being put in a situation where their clubs may face financial penalties……it is likely both clubs will get charged with failing to control their players.
  13. McCormack absolutely did enter the pitch at the end of the game. Got involved in the nonsense then ran off……utterly pathetic. In response to the various comments about so many cards……as Broomage5 has said the referee wasn’t helped by the players. In particular both captains were constantly badgering the referee from early on, to hand out yellow cards for every single foul. Maybe the referee will learn to ignore that stuff, but experienced captains should know better that haranguing a referee to hand out cards was a self fulfilling prophecy.
  14. McCormack also made it on to the park at the end of the game to get involved in the ‘handbags’. Having been sent off he should not have been there. That could bring a long suspension as it looked like the dug out side linesman saw it. When McGregor got sent off it was quite funny watching him shout ‘Do you want some too’ at various Shire players whilst conveniently hiding behind Stuart Hunter. There wasn’t much quality on show but it was feisty and entertaining once the goals started. A result that did neither team any favours and didn’t harm them either. interesting to see John Brownlie on the touchline as a Shire coach. A genuinely great player who epitomised what attacking full back play was all about.
  15. Linlithgow v Penicuik. If Linlithgow don’t win, those 3 away draws will start to bite.
  16. As good a result as there has been from a Scottish club in Europe for a very long time. Very well organised and played without fear. Well done.
  17. Correct. He is a complete and utter cock. 3 years ago he was in the final group on the last day with Richard McEvoy in the last round of the European Open. McEvoy was the very definition of a journeyman pro who had never won on tour before. McEvoy won that day and De Chambeau shot 78. The way De Chambeau treated McEvoy on the 18th green (barely shaking his hand never mind congratulating him) was a complete disgrace. No doubt he was disappointed and probably expected to win....the fact he didn’t wasn’t McEvoy’s fault.
  18. I think that is at Easter Road.....the old terracing opposite the main stand in the background. Possibly April 1973 when Celtic won 3 0 to clinch the league. Dixie Deans scored 2 that day.
  19. Very civil of Spurs to sign up to something they will finish bottom of every season.
  20. The 1 day a year when it is warm enough to drink outside in Scotland until 10.00 isn’t the problem.....it is the other 364.
  21. You can’t play the ball with your hand /arm so how can your hand/arm be offside? It is utter nonsense.
  22. Ignoring the Covid bit, is it genuinely the case that young professional footballers these days go socialising wearing club branded merchandise??? Is it a sort of 21st century ‘do you know who I am?’. Bizarre behaviour.
  23. For consistently incorrect football reporting tune in to Radio Scotland for the sports bulletin that follows the 6.30 news headlines in the morning. If Goodlad is doing it you can just about guarantee one absolute howler. This morning he reported that Birmingham had beaten Liverpool last night. If he could just check the facts rather than endlessly trying to be a smart arse that would be much of an improvement l
