It was a community trust initiative wasn't it, not really linked to the club? Stadium was going to be built from arranged funding as a community resource (gyms, event halls, attract concerts etc), the infrastructure was built which was part of the reason for dualling Greenhills Road and they even put directional signs to "community stadium" around Calderglen, Langlands & Greenhills. I know COVID got in the way but seems strange not one bit of work has been done, even with starting a car park to keep the planning permission live.

It is a community trust project. But ekfc and ek community trust work hand in hand.
The starting of work is probably exactly what you have stated, to keep planning permission alive.
Im not in the know in any way, but i cant see it being ready any time soon.
Its went very quiet on the subject.

Only putting themselves under more pressure. You would've thought after last season, going all-in on 2 x 180min games of football is a dangerous game to play. Brechin and "Club 42" will be a lot tougher than Tranent were last season.

I don’t get what tranent have to do with east kilbride last season? Other than finishing a place above them by a point in 4th place? 🤷🏻

I am sure EK fans don’t give a toss what anyone else thinks, they are just enjoying the endless stream of talent coming through the doors. I am also sure they are hoping for a successful run in the play offs and to eventually land in the promised land. The questions I have are, what if they don’t make it after throwing the kitchen sink at it? Where would that leave MK, who has undoubtedly had at least a league one budget to spend, and  the biggest budget in LL history? Will the owners go again if it goes wrong?
Personally I think this is their year, but if it’s not there are huge questions to answer.

The simple answer is they will go again. This isn’t new for east kilbride. They have been throwing money at this for many years now. And have been very close.
This year does seem like they are pushing boat out more than previous seasons, but i honestly dont think they are in relation to the standard of the league now.
Levels have been raised year on year so the standard of players has to if you want to continue to compete. But they have always brought in players, good seasoned pros from leagues above, right from there first season.
Its maybe more highlighted now with the profile of the manager and the circus he seems to bring along with him.
It remains to be seen if they will manage it this year. Strong team on paper. But teams on paper don’t win anything. As i’ve witnessed more than i would have liked.

Is there any movement on the plans as announced in 2017 then 2020 to build a proper ground for EK?

kpark is perfectly fine for the level ek are playing at just now. That wont change until/if they ever gain promotion.

If we are down there it will be on sporting merit and we can’t have any complaint.

If you end up in the SPFL it’s because you’ve splaffed ludicrous amounts of cash to see off some students, postmen and old firm kids you seem to love so much.

Whilst your manager loves to sound off against the b-teams you voted them to stay in. Whilst he loves to talk of sporting integrity, he’s buying the league. Whilst you throw mental money at players from tiers above you are grovelling for cash for an injured boys op.

Who's offended?  I don't have a dog in this fight (other than my wider interest in Scottish football) and the actions of the EK money men have no impact on me.

I'm pointing out that you're spouting the party lines that have been trotted out by other clubs before (many times).  Why do you seem to think EK will succeed where others have failed?  What are they doing differently?  From the outside looking in it does seem to be a case of seen this movie before.

At no point have i ever said ek were going to succeed. Never at any point. Probably have always leaned to the pessimistic side over the years after watching them try and fail to get up. But it’s my local team. Who i would like to see doing well. Thats about the size of my take on the situation.

I think every Club would want a sugar daddy but Kean hasn’t plowed so much money before into EK until Kennedy rocked up.

There are two stories going about and everyone has their own opinion.

One is that the long time investor Kean is plowing money in and every time MK comes calling, he gets another wad to buy the next big thing.

Or is it that MK has a wad of cash from unknown sources to finance the purchases.

Sweetie wife chat thread for this please.

So the money will last forever then?  The same as it has for every financially doped club there's ever been in the country?

I'll never understand the ability of money men to convince football fans the good times will go on and on, or the stupidity of the fans that actually believe them.

EK may well exist without financial doping but certainly not at the level you're aspiring to.

Im not silly enough to think that the money will last for ever. But the guys imvesting in club are there for the long haul. They are trying desperatley to get through the leagues. In the hope it will raise the profile and get fans turning up in numbers to make the club sustainable.

What a joke outfit, how many players have they used this season? It’s almost as bad for the integrity of the league as b-teams, when you’ve got a club loaning players from 3 tiers above and signing guys at will after every poor result.

I’m sure the SPFL are rubbing their hands together at the prospect of a financially doped basket case, playing out of a 5s cage and with 50 fans joining the ranks.

Yous will be down here soon. Maybe we can discuss it then if we are still here. Will yous have a home by then??? You can share our 5s cage if you want? At a price of course.

Oh and integrity and clyde dont mix well pal. Just saying.

Is the issue, as an East Kilbride fan, not that you're going to get absolutely fucked by all this long term when Kennedy inevitably just dumps and runs if/when a desperate side (like Clyde) offer him a job in the hope he takes his money there?

Feels like his previous clubs are just rungs on a ladder to him, and once hes moved on he doesn't bother looking down again to see what mess hes left.

    No. Simply no.

Has the begging bowl out for a players injury rehab but happy to fling cash at signings. No offence to the posters in here who seem decent but I'd be embarrassed.

This is bang on. The begging bowl out  for a player under contract with a serious injury was shocking. Especially with the money being flung at other players. Didn’t sit well with me at all.

Yet another ridiculous signing. If EK dont go up at this stage you've got to question the fairness of next campaign considering the amount theyve spent this year. I doesnt just disadvantage the rest of the LL, their resources far outstrip any HL team and whoever Team 42 turn out to be. For all of MK's chat of sporting integrity recently re: the B teams, it really is shocking how EK have conducted this campaign.

The idea of FFP is to stop clubs being unsustainable as well.  Once the poultry kid fucks off (and we all know he will) EK are gubbed.  Edinburgh have shown the way, Kelty and Cove have stalled and likely the only way for them is down from here.

Some clubs will have more than others, usually through a larger fan base.  It’s far too easy for anyone with a few quid to buy success at this level in Scotland and it makes a mockery of any kind of integrity.

This post sums up the pish that is spouted on this thread to a tee. Opinions with little facts.
Folk are so wrapped up in the mick kennedy show that all other facts go out the window. The bottom line is, the guys that own east kilbride could buy and sell mick kennedy for fun. The club are in no way reliant on any funding from mick. He could go in the morning and someone else would be in his place.

This league(and most leagues) for that matter, have teams who are cash rich. And what???? Get over it. I’d  bet if any of your clubs came into money yous would be loving it. The main problem people seem to have here is michael kennedy. For whatever reason that may be.
Im still to be fully convinced on him myself. But one thing i am sure of is ek will be there long after he is gone for better or worse.

It’s all becoming a bit silly now with EK. How many players have featured for them this season? Compared to other teams in the league.

Is MK struggling to keep a happy squad? I have no doubt that he wins this league. As he should with the huge financial advantage he has of the other teams.

But over a 2 leg play off with the HL champions and then club 42. It’s not guaranteed they get through that.

He got found out by Tranent over two legs with Darvel. Would not bet against it happening here

It seems a bit silly from the outside. And i would agree with you that it is. But owners are so desperate for promotion to league that they are flinging everything at it.

The worry is the turn over of players. Bringing in as many quality players as they have is always going to be a problem. When you have good players that are used to playing but are now sitting on bench you are going to get unrest.

Whole things screams a bit of desperation. Which is strange for a team in the strong position that they are in.
Give me a small squad filled with team spirit and quality all day long.

    Easier said than done though.

Also agree on your take on play off. If they dont get a settled first 11 i think they will struggle. ( if they get there)
