  1. Nonsense. That implies QP will win another game. They’re playing as 11 men who’ve chucked it. Pathetic.
  2. That was an absolute disgrace from a Queen’s Park perspective. Turner’s clearly chucked it. Carse looked like a lost boy. Tizzard over Robson or Bannon? Was he serious? Tactics were all wrong, deciding to pioneer a new style of football where we don’t tackle was a random one. Failing to press anything was an interesting one too. Also, why are we chucking long balls at McLeish/Williamson, two slight guys? Inverness deserved the victory, I’m only amazed it wasn’t by more. I’m starting to really understand the warnings of St Johnstone fans when Davidson was first appointed. On the plus side, at least we still get away days to Arbroath.
  3. Apologies if this has been addressed, but does anyone know why we’ve signed this massive lease on Lochinch, yet we’re training at the moment at Toryglen?
  4. Have to agree with it being a good thing to have Heraghty out on loan. At that age experience can only be a good thing. Ferrie has been injury free TOUCH WOOD, so it makes sense for Jacques to be getting competitive minutes while trying with us during the week too. Win win.
  5. Unfortunately Fletcher seems to start most weeks for Wrexham. Cillian Sheridan it is, given he’s a free agent having been released by Inverness, two months into his contract
  6. If he’s based around Perth, it’s probably a more communicable gig to end up at Dunfermline rather than Glasgow. From QP’s perspective, it’d also have made Crole’s signing a bit odder too. No matter, fingers crossed Paton can stay fit.
  7. If it’s an experienced guy, we’re never going to have someone that hasn’t had his problems or something to prove. Hopefully he’d look at that Dunfermline team that are really struggling and choose us. Especially if he’s linking up with Davidson.
  8. Selfishly, I thought Bournemouth may have ‘loaned’ him back to us until the end of the season. Who does that leave our backup GK as given Heraghty is now away at Annan? Sam Kane?
  9. Maybe, but Crawford is capable of playing in that #10 role, giving Thomas/Turner some real competition. I always remember Crawford being the difference between Hamilton being dugmeat and being able to Nick a result.
  10. I can’t say I disagree. I felt that Spong had the confidence and tenacity to succeed in the Championship and he did well to control the play at times. If the talk of him failing to settle are true it’s a shame, life in the South of England & Glasgow aren’t half different. I wouldn’t be completely surprised to see Tizzard away at the end of the season too- although if he gets a run playing as a normal CB without the need to play defence splitting passes he may yet come good.
  11. I’m happy with that. An ‘older’ head that’s been around the block and played abroad also. I always felt he was solid-enough for the Scottish leagues when at Hearts. Transfer Scotland reporting he’s signed an 18-month deal. I don’t see us bringing in another striker. That said if Davidson’s been referring to ‘experience’ again, I wonder whether we might be in for Ali Crawford. Seen it lots of places he’s leaving this window, but I imagine he has many more attractive propositions. We’d be having to push the boat out, as weve done with Danny Wilson I imagine.
  12. You had Bannon and Thomson with Robson usually playing a bit wider (almost like a LB) Mauchin and Bruce were notably more advanced, although Bruce for some reason was very reluctant to move forward or make a run.
  13. The problem is often we don’t play with a striker in the box still, with Paton coming deep to link play. As an out and out winger, that’s going to make your life very difficult. I particularly enjoyed the time where he elected to dribble into a pool of three Ayr players, despite the bye-line beckoning about the 87th minute.
  14. There’s no denying that was a really disappointing game, especially given they’ve had a fortnight to prepare and that Ayr didn’t look all that brilliant themselves. Stinking refereeing aside, I don’t think we did enough to win that. That said, there’s positives to be taken. Paton’s finish was top class. We don’t look as much of a bombscare at the back (Thomson and Bannon incidents aside). Our build-up play is a bit better also now we’ve abandoned the instance on not passing it further than 10 yds. I also didn’t realise Welsh had been sent off (must’ve been in the bog) until after the match also, so that either says something about our character or how crap Ayr were. I thought our defensive formation & positioning was really good throughout. The 2nd Ayr goal came as soon as we stepped off and began dropping deeper into our own box however. The reason why that formation works for Scotland is because there’s constantly someone pressing the ball (Usually McGinn, Adams or Dykes). Understandably, our ‘QP B Graduates’ like Bruce and Mauchin need to find consistency. Both played very well v Dunfermline & Raith, but Mauchin especially was ripped apart in that first half before improving a little. I also felt despite his ‘Wing Back’ position, Bruce didn’t get forward anywhere near as much as he should’ve- although there was a constant lack of runners for him. These guys are still learning, but given our position we don’t have the luxury of a deep well of patience. I’d be looking at playing McPherson for now as he edges it defensively for me. I felt Thomas was pretty ineffective as a 10. When he broke through, he either dribbled into bother or was marked out the game. I fear though we don’t have another option to fit Thomas in given Davidson’s preferred 3-5-2 however. Same goes for Turner. He didn’t have anywhere near his usual influence. The need for experience and quality is blatantly obvious if we’re to make any go of a relegation battle. At very least Davidson’s said he’s working on bringing two experienced heads in. A Striker (Williamson/McLeish at the moment isn’t good enough be our backup) and CB to pair Bannon are essential. As said above, Celtic B prospects aren’t the ‘experience’ we need.
