  1. Anyone know how long his contract is? The club announcement only says he is a "permanent signing." According to transfer market.co, his contract expires on 31 May this year.
  2. I wondered about that - you might hope that Davidson could get him back to his old self.
  3. if this is the case, then fair play to the club and I wish Spong all the best. Sadly the urbane sophistication of Glasgow's South Side is not for everyone. If this is why he has gone, I would be concerned. If Davidson doesn't like his attitude, his first job as a manager should be to try & change it, not boot him out the door. Particularly if the player clearly has ability.
  4. Even if he does see Williamson as first team material, having only 2 strikers is still cutting it pretty fine. What if Paton gets injured? We've been really luck with Paton - he is usually absolutely knackered by the end of the game and it is remarkable that he hasn't picked up an injury up to now.
  5. Mind you, I remember watching a YouTube of Luis Longstaff where he looked brilliant, so I shall temper my expectations accordingly.
  6. I found some online stuff when he played in Spain & he seems to like a good tackle
  7. The pars issued an update yesterday... "Dunfermline Athletic can provide the following update on the condition of the pitch at KDM Group East End Park. Following last Saturday’s postponed match, the issues within the under soil heating system have now been resolved, the excess water drained and pitch repaired. However with the minus temperatures setting in early this week, we have been unable to test the under soil heating system fully and as a precaution it has not been turned on ahead of Saturday’s match. At present the pitch is currently frozen, but with temperatures due to rise tomorrow afternoon and Saturday ahead of kick off we are hopeful the Queen’s Park match will go ahead. Any further updates will be communicated to supporters in due course." The good news is the under soil heating has been sorted but they can't test it because it's cold??!?
  8. You would have thought (hoped) that it would be possible to build a Royal Box in such a way that a stand could be built beside it or around it somehow. Lesser Hampden has very limited space anyway, the last thing they should have done is build a Folly that reduced the long term maximum capacity of the ground by about 8-900. madness.
  9. How much more experience do we need? Our starting 11 on Saturday had 2 players in their 30's, 3 aged 25 or over & 2 23 year olds. I'm not saying we should rule out signing experienced players but I think being good & playing in a position where we need reinforcing is far more important.
  10. Not sure i understand this - the team most often suggested as benefitting from playing at Lesser is QP women. they only play 28 league games in a season - so 14 at home. They are presumably paying Benburb for the use of their pitch so right away "revenue stream" would improve if they played at Lesser. in addition it is reasonable to assume that more folk would pay to see them if they were playing there. I don't get the impression that Lesser is being used so much that they couldn't squeeze our women in. Of course, maybe the women are not a priority
  11. Many thanks for the update and whilst I appreciate the club's reluctance to have the details splashed over P&B, there would be no need for this if the club were more open with the fans. Was there any sense that communication is likely to improve?
  12. It also seems curious that we are supposedly signing a midfielder when, I would suggest, our needs are greater elsewhere.
  13. On the grounds that he is not Malky Mackay, I am pleased with this appointment.
  14. Yeah the club's support for our hugely successful women's team has been truly underwhelming. 1 tweet & 1 retweet on the club tXitter account. The club has 21K followers, the women's account has 3.5k. You'd almost think they don't want to highlight the success & positive attitude in the women's squad in case it reflects badly on the big boys. And they don't get paid!!! Isn't that amazing?
  15. I think in our case it stands for Secret Liaison Officer.
  16. Is there any reason to believe we have money to sign (and pay) any players? Presumably, there is an agreed budget for the first team squad? Now, of course Beuker/Veldman might not have used every last penny, but it's hard to imagine they left enough unspent to fund many new signings. And without money to enable a new manager to strengthen the squad, our chances of attracting a half-decent manager are pretty small. Of course oor lord Wullie could lob some more cash in but given he appears unwilling to do so to complete our "stadium" is there any reason to believe he'd do so to "complete" our squad?
  17. "It's often said that anyone can beat anyone else in this league, "he said, as the straws slipped through his fingers.
  18. Good to see he is concentrating on "The work that requires zero talent." Something we have displayed consistently.
  19. We don't know much about Nuitjen but he has had the opportunity to observe the squad in training and on match days, seen what Veldman has tried and seen what doesn't work, and, you would hope, come up with his own ideas for improvement. Add in O'Ware's experience art this level, and between them let's hope they can turn the team around. This squad may not be good enough to win the league, but, with the right leadership, should be good enough to finish top 6. Where will O'Ware be on Saturday afternoon?
  20. Wotherspoon will be 34 in January. Which of our starting 11 would you send to the bench to give him a game?
