  1. They have. It is being trialled in a lot of airports currently. Aye they've been saying that for a few years though I won't hold my breath.
  2. How close do you have to be sitting to the radio for that to happen though?
  3. I remember when they used to make you take your earphones out for take off and landing. I think they have stopped that now on most airlines, probably got too unwieldy to police. And I can't believe they still haven't found a way around the 100ml liquids / please remove every electrical item from your baggage rule. If you were planning to blow up a plane using liquid explosive whats to stop someone just bringing it on in several consignments of 100ml and mixing it together in the toilet? I mean, I've seen Die Hard with a Vengeance (which I trust is completely scientifically accurate) you don't even need that much liquid explosive to make a big explosion.
  4. Tbf I've done this a few times before. Even when the plane is still in the air but relatively low approaching the airport. I do tend to have the phone on silent so as not to come across as a complete bell end but honestly if mobile phones were interfering with the aircraft systems that badly I think there would be aircraft falling out of the sky left right and centre.
  5. As bad as that are the picks that start queuing at the gate for boarding about 3 hours before the flight is due to take off.
  6. This. I quite enjoy the one on one stuff as he often gets some fairly decent guests with some interesting stories. However the keeping the ball on the ground ones seem to consist of the first 10 minutes being inane "banter" and in jokes between them which would be annoying enough in itself but that combined with them incessantly laughing directly into the microphone at about 5 times the volume of anything else on the recording usually results in it getting switched off before they actually get to any football related chat. The terrace stuff I quite enjoy as they manage to cover most of Scottish football fairly equally without too much bias. I find myself skipping over a lot of the lower league stuff as it doesn't involve my own club but still think it's good for it to get a decent amount of coverage. The telly stuff I've not seen too much of living down south but watched last night's on iplayer this morning and it seemed alright so I'll try and stick with it.
  7. Good result. Can we have Hecky sent to the stand every week? A truly awful refereeing performance (not just against us, Celtic should've had a couple of penalties). Wonder if he would've sent Ntcham off if Vela had gone down after being hit in the face?
  8. People said that last time. Repeatedly. Until we did get relegated. This has the same feel about it. Luckily at the moment we have got the whole rest of the reason to sort things. If we get rid of him now and give the new man plenty time to asses the squad before the January transfer window then I'm sure we'll be alright. The longer we leave it the riskier it gets. Not sure Stubbs is necessarily the answer, especially without his background team (who I think had more to do with the success last time round than we realised given how things have gone for him since without them) but he couldn't be much worse than the current incumbent.
  9. Good luck getting any success with that side of things. We had a neighbour at our old house who was fond of purchasing old bangers with no tax, mot etc and parking them on the road, pavement etc for extended periods of time. I was bored one day so reported it. Absolutely nothing was done. Hopefully your local authorities will be better than mine.
  10. Nah just certain areas of outside decks. Topless waitresses are only in crew areas.
  11. Only allowed in designated area on our ships. Banned in cabins. Been some pretty serious incidents caused by discarded cigarettes. Star Princess fire springs to mind but there have been others.
  12. .net in lockdown, even to members under a certain post count. they are doing this pretty much every week now
  13. I don't get tips or have anything to do with that side of thing really (deck officer) but if I had to take a guess I would say the Americans (as you would expect). A lot of the cabin stewards etc can do very well off tips. Their basic wages are pretty low by Western standards but they can make a lot of money in tips and a lot of these guys have massive houses with loads of land at home. Shame they all have to do such long contracts (circa 9 months) they don't get to spend much time there.
  14. I work on cruise ships so probably have a slightly different perspective to most people on here! Any questions fire away.
  15. There's only about 10 teams in the world that take rugby seriously. If it was as popular as football we'd probably be in the same state.
  16. Folk have touched on this already but is there an argument that our league set up is now in a sort of sweet spot of mediocrity in that it's not shite enough to force half decent players to move elsewhere to develop, but it's not good enough to allow them to really fulfill their potential. If you look at the two of the most comparable countries, Wales & Ireland, if you are a half decent young player there and want to progress you have to go abroad (probably to England) fairly young where you will get access to top quality coaching and develop accordingly, hence they have produced more top class players than us over the last 30 years or so. If you are a half decent young player in Scotland you can piss about at a mid table SPL side before going to the old firm and stagnating but still winning everything domestically and making a good living then maybe going the Championship or lower EPL in your mid to late twenties by which time its way too late. I know there have been plenty of our national side come through English teams so maybe thats all nonsense but it's just a thought.
  17. Never thought about facebook groups, good idea I'll take a look.
  18. Cheers I will take a look at that site.
