I might be in a minority here, and maybe even in a spot of trouble for this, but does anyone else struggle to watch Rosie Jones? I can’t help thinking her appearances are an exercise in box ticking for the PC brigade.
sorry if this has been done before

I've genuinely never heard anyone say anything positive about her. Nothing to do with her disability. She's just not funny.

The deadline for payment is Tuesday so keep an eye out for returns.

How are returns gonna be sold? Is it going to be a case of going on the website and they may occasionally release a few returned tickets and you get lucky and they are available to buy when you go on? Or will they be automatically re-allocated to unsuccessful applicants?

  3. Any P&B'ers ever considered getting a breast augmentation so they could have their own set to play with?

Also, this bloke apparently lives "next door" to a pedophile? Interesting street parties round West Calder way...

Work on a big cruise ship as an officer.

I do this. It's not as good as it sounds. I have to get up at half 3 every morning, work shifts with never more than about 6 hours uninterrupted rest. Sure you get to go round the world but don't actually have that much time to get off the ship because you are either working or sleeping. You don't have that many employment rights as you don't fall under UK law. You work every single day for 3-4 months. You miss lots of big events at home and it's very easy to drift away from your social groups. Miss your kids growing up etc. It's a niche skill set with qualifications which are not widely recognised outside the industry so you get stuck in it.

Anyway super yacht captain is the next plan as while most of the above still apply, the money/time off is a lot better and there's less corporate bullshit. Other bullshit though of course.

  5. Echo the comments above regarding the absolute mess the communication is. I work in an industry where we do a lot of safety critical radio communication and standard phraseology and closed loop (where the receiver has to repeat the message back then the sender confirms it is correct) communication have been standard for years.

Really astonished they don't seem to have implemented something like this from the start. Just seems to be a bunch of guys talking over each other, no wonder there's been mistakes.

They shouldn't be able to restart the game until there is positive confirmation from the VAR which the referee then confirms he has recieved and understood.

It's really not very difficult. Give me a £100k consultancy fee and I will go in and train them how to speak to each other on a radio.

I doubt he has the sort of extensive funds that he had access to back then tbh. I would also think that the burden of proof would be on the accusers of a crime that allegedly occurred decades ago. Perhaps the rape clinic will have kept forensic evidence that can provide a DNA match. And if not, why not?

I'd be surprised if couldn't afford a lawyer.

Completely agree that it is up to the legal process to prove the claims of any accuser, you'd think that if there is any forensics then this would be relatively straightforward.

That doesn't answer the question why he hasn't taken any legal action against Channel 4 or The Times yet though. Surely he wants to get them in court and clear his name?

  7. If the allegations are false then presumably Brand (with his extensive funds and therefore access to excellent legal counsel) will be taking legal action to clear his name?

I mean I'm pretty sure that's what I would do if someone started to falsely accuse me of a string of sexual offences.

Why wouldn't he? Unless of course, he is actually guilty and consequently doesn't want to go anywhere near a court of law with this.

  8. Yeah I think it is pretty reliable. We used to get internet outages on the old system if we were in a Fjord with high mountains, cliffs etc but Elon has put so many satellites up there that with Starlink this is no longer a problem. Our onboard electrician was showing us a diagram of how many satellites Starlink has - they are bloody everywhere! So I doubt you will have any issues.

  9. Can't comment from a rural point of view, but I work in the shipping industry and we have recently switched our on board internet from more traditional satellite connection to starlink and the difference is night and day. Internet is like being at home whereas before it was like being on dial up. So I wouldn't forsee any problems with using it in your situation but I dunno what the costs are like etc. Whole shipping industry seems to be moving towards it though so I think it could be the way forward for people in situations like yours.

Interesting video from Russell Brand from about 30 minutes ago

    Guess its him then.

Been rumoured for ages and he has pretty much completely disappeared from the fairly prominent position he used to hold on TV over the last few years. He was never off panel shows etc. I gather he has disappeared down the right wing conspiracy rabbit hole on podcasts and YouTube etc recently. Maybe he's playing to that section of the crowd in anticipation of this news story breaking at some point? I mean if you get certain sections of the right wing social media lot behind you then you can essentially do no wrong it their eyes regardless of the evidence, as we have seen with various others over the last few years.

I have absolutely no problem with 'granny qualifiers' at all, but the timing here stinks a bit. If he had decided he was Scottish this time last year, I would have no problem welcoming him with open arms. Now that we're a shoo in for the Euros and he's coincidentally not getting anywhere near the England squad... not so much.

Is this not literally the exact same thing that Che Adams did though? Wasn't interested until we qualified for Euro 2020 but I don't think you could doubt his commitment now.

  12. Is there concern in the Academic community that AI will get to the stage where it is impossible to tell the difference between something that is genuine and something that has been plagiarised? Then were do we go from there? I guess we are a bit away from it at the moment but the way these things progress?

The 2016 Scottish Cup final. Injury time winner. Pitch invasion. Sunshine on Leith. Lee Wallace etc etc

Correct. Although of course I was in the stadium at the time but I've watched it back a few times...

  14. The ads on mobile made the site virtually unusable. The page would constantly jump around as ads loaded, you would then accidentally click on them whilst trying to find where you were etc. I am sure this behaviour is probably on purpose (not by P&B, I mean the ads are probably designed to work like this so it is more likely you click on them, after all that's the whole point of their existence).

It was so bad I paid for the platinum membership. With platinum it is absolutely fine, no issues and for £1 a month or whatever it is and the fact I use the site virtually every day, it's worth it.

    Holy thread bump Batman, but…

Some customers do still prefer to pay in cash and I’ll take whatever method of payment suits. But I’ve never seen these chaps before. Can’t see my local being too impressed when I’m in for my £3.50 pint of T…

TBF the way things are going pint of T will be about £75 soon and £100 notes small change.

I've liked the Si Ferry podcasts, but they're kicking the erse out of it a lot of the Broomhill stuff.

The "Si Ferry meets" stuff was good but they seem to have dropped this in favour of inane banter with "Slaney" etc. I've not listened to any of the Broomhill stuff but I am sure it is more of the same.

The Big Interview with Graham Hunter has had some good guests on if you can get past his sycophantic style.

Obviously mostly English football based but if you enjoy nostalgia then Quickly Kevin is an amusing look back at the 90s. They've also had some decent guests on.
