  1. For such a big guy his lack of aggression is definitely disappointing.
  2. The above could easily be a cut and paste from quite a few of our match threads this season. I am far from convinced by him.
  3. Just in case your interest in Dundee gangs from the late ‘60s into the ‘70s extends beyond the YLF. I think the Whitfield Shams colours were only used when Jack and Victor led the gang………* *they were in fact sky blue with a white stripe if I remember correctly. Perhaps @Derry Alli can confirm.
  4. Was it not Goodwin that made Watt your vice captain suggesting he bizarrely had / still has a lot of faith in Watt? The only other reason I can think of making him vice captain was Goodwin knew he was stuck with him (where else would Watt get close to the wages you are paying?) and it was to try and avoid another Jack Ross type situation.
  5. I think United will still get promoted. The trouble for United fans is I don’t think your board will have the same courage of conviction as the Dundee board did when we got promoted so I think you will be stuck with Goodwin next season - at least until early December…..
  6. If Arbroath go down that will be three clubs in a row he’s played a part in relegating. He really needs to start choosing his employers more carefully as some people may start thinking he’s the common denominator.
  7. Yeh, I don’t think he’s going to bag us loads of goals but I’m hoping he’ll help create more chances. He certainly appears to be an intelligent player so he may well help the younger players in the team.
  8. Have to agree your defence looked a bit shaky when Mellon and to a lesser extent Main (still not convinced by him) came on. Don't think your defence looked at all troubled by Bakayoko though.
  9. Especially against teams that will put pressure on us. I think we were able to play with a less aggressive and more attack minded midfield against Ross County and St Johnstone because those two teams are so poor.
  10. I think every midfielder should and needs to be able to do basic defending if they play in a team that will be under pressure for large parts of a game. I wonder if that’s part of the reason why we don’t play well against the better teams? They force us to defend more and more of their defenders and defensive midfielders are capable of joining the attack. He’s still young though and if he can learn to defend / tackle the way McCowan has he’ll be a real all round outstanding player.
  11. 100% this. Runs into tackles so quickly a quick change of direction by the player with the ball and they are away. He should spend time looking at Beck to see how a smaller player should go about getting between the ball and an opposition player. Of course you need to be willing to take a knock doing that and I’ve not seen that side of his game to date.
  12. No question the better team won. Well done to Hibs. I think you’re now the favourite for a top 6 finish out of Dundee and the teams below us. I’m disappointed that we be put in such a lacklustre performance, especially the first half. Too many passengers today I’m afraid.
  13. I think playing Tiffoney, Cameron and Costelleoe at the same time makes the team too lightweight against any half decent team. I thought Mellon and Main improved the team when they came on, as did Mulligan. I actually thought Donnelly was ok today. Several players worse than him today.
  14. Thank you. I will just have to remind myself there are brighter sides to life and I should know because I’ve seen them - but not very often.
  15. First time I’ve endured Edinburgh when the rugby is on. Not nice!
  16. Are you in a position to provide a bar graph and a pie chart to back this assertion?
  17. Outstanding idea. I’m going to see The Smiths Ltd in Dundee on Saturday evening pretty much as soon as I get back into Dundee so it’s going to be a busy day for an old man like me. If I knew how to give you a standing ovation GIF I would. Perhaps @This Charming Man or @Bigmouth Strikes Again could oblige. Thank you.
  18. I’m trying to buy tickets now but it’s going so slow. All the free tickets in the latest section released (section immediately behind the goal) are towards the main stand side. I wonder if they’ve only released half this section so far? Either way it should be a good support.
  19. The man just oozes style effortlessly. No chance you’d see him wearing a frankly vulgar red pullover.
  20. Is that not a tv presenter from the ‘90s / ‘00s? I think he did consumer type shows in the main. I can’t remember his name though. I also think it’s more a maroon coloured jacket which is completely unacceptable under any circumstances but especially when speaking to the Proclaimers!
  21. Not sure how Joe will cope next season with league games every weekend and European travels and games mid week - or am I just getting ahead of myself?
  22. How many have been sold? 700-800 I would guess.
  23. Oh, I think it’s fair to say I have played a fair bit of football. I don’t agree with your assertion “If youre running, jumping, and stretching your leg, then youll also twist and your arms come out”. I’ve seen plenty of players running, jumping and stretching without the need to twist their body significantly. Despite your assertion to the contrary I think he could have ran, jumped and stretched without turning his back on goal. You apparently think that is not physically and / or reasonably possible. You clearly have a different, more defensive, position of a player in a team you support. You’re entitled to your opinion of course.
  24. So you don’t think he bottled it by turning his back on the shot?
  25. Still doesn’t answer why he turned his back though. I know it takes a bit of courage but I think players should be standing their ground.
