  1. Watched the highlights today and two things came to mind; Firstly, Tiffoney’s miss was worse than Rudden’s. Secondly, to prove how ridiculous this expected goal stat thing is, apparently the fermers had a higher score than we did from yesterday. Laughably incorrect.
  2. McGhee has to play central defence or nowhere. He’s not a midfielder and he’s not a right back. Playing him out of position to accommodate Lamie is madness. Despite his goal, he was definitely our worst player today. Tiffoney is all pace and no end product. Both he and Rudden totally bottled their 1 on 1 chances. Apart from that, we totally dominated that game and should have been on easy street. When Sylla gets up to speed and we get a couple of the longer-term absentees back, then I’m actually reasonably optimistic form once. One final thing, as I put my tin helmet on… Fletcher on a short -term deal until January to give us genuine options up front????
  3. McGhee at right back is not the right idea. Lamie has looked pish. Apart from that, good performance. Fermers look like they could play until next week without scoring. As toothless as a family of Paisley meth addicts.
  4. You never know, Sylla could turn out to be a real Surprise, Surprise.
  5. I assume that he’s waiting for your wife/sister (unsure if that’s one person or two) to join him…
  6. Usually I can't wait for the game because of, well the game. However, the last 14 (!) pages of this thread have me begging for Saturday to come for an entirely different reason...
  7. Sharp to the Pars until January. Hopefully he gets a good run of games under his belt. Clean sheets against the DABS wouldn't hurt either
  8. Will probably need to just keep copying and pasting this after each game this season: We will not do well with McGhee in midfield and Mulligan as a right back/wing back. Central defence and attacking midfield respectively are the only areas where these two should be playing.
  9. Looks like Cameron and the new forward might be on at half time, not warming up with the others.
  10. Thanks for that, was doing a quick calculation of the radio scores, without seeing a table! Robinson hat trick and two from Pineda should do the trick..
  11. Have they decided which of the Bigot Brothers get to play Stirling yet, or will that be decided tomorrow?
  12. 2 goal victory tomorrow seals a second round place. One goal victory would need to be 4-3 or higher, I think.
  13. With his left, with his right, scores all the goals, 'cos he ain't shite
  14. Surely they can switch to Friday/Sunday instead?
  15. Some decent play last night, and one instance of absolutely atrocious defending thrown in for good measure. The Dumbarton keeper had a couple of really top-quality saves and we missed a good few gilt-edged chances, so it should have been a much more conformable win. However, I was gutted to see that Doc thinks playing McGhee in midfield is a good idea - he was shown up so many times last season in the Championship, there is no way he should be near the midfield in the top flight - Byrne, Anderson, Robertson, Boateng, Cameron & Mulligan should all be ahead of him for a central berth - he's a back-up central defender. The Mexicans both looked decent, Pineda took his goal well and had a couple of good touches and Portales had little to do, but did most of what he had to comfortably. Beck looks a good player, but I'm still wondering about Tiffoney - gets into decent positions, but seems to lack a killer instinct to go for goal or a killer pass/cross. Hopefully Robinson will be on penalty duty from now on...
  16. I see Pineda is 11, so the number 9 shirt is still unallocated…
  17. More a question than a topic: Is there a website that provides accurate information as to which players are suspended for league games due to "totting up" of Yellow cards? Am looking to do some stats on suspensions but am looking for a comprehensive list for the Premiership only, preferably one that is updated as suspension thresholds are reached. TIA.
  18. Ah, I see. Forgotten he was Welsh TBH. I think we can file that under "Wildly Improbable"...
  19. I'm honestly not sure if you've got someone else in mind (or there's a very obvious, high-profile one I'm forgetting about), or you're just hoping it's not Doidge!!!
  20. Beck looked decent, apart from his stupid booking, Shaughnessy didn't have much to do, but looked calm, composed and commanding when required. Tiffoney flattered to deceive - looks like he has pace, but didn't seem to have a killer final ball (nae neck mark II??) and Boateng looked decent. McCowan had another one of his games where he just disappeared and Cameron has obviously been given the playmaker role and was trying spraying a lot of 40-yard, crossfield passes - mostly successfully. Rudden manages to get himself into decent positions but always seems to get his feet tangled up or turns the wrong way into traffic at the crucial moment. Hopefully Pineda will be the business, or we will definitely need someone to link up with ZR16. Decent performance, plenty of chances created but two great saves and a hatful of missed chances meant it was only 1-0. Final word for the pitch - never seen anything like it outside of a council park pitch. There were bobbles and bumps in it all over the place and the far goal-line was a good three feet higher at one side than the other!
