I know it's now February 2024 but just noticed this post, glad you enjoyed the city, great place to visit, not so much to live in these days! Homelessness, drug abuse and mental health are major issues in the city, the latter is horribly undertreated here, the subway "system" (all three line of it!) sometimes feels like one big mobile homeless shelter/mental health facility, it's also notoriously unreliable and become a bit more stabby recently. I avoid Yonge Street too if I can, just seems to attract all the worst people!

This guy's videos on Norway and Sweden were decent, so I was expecting a bit more with this one but still a decent enough watch.

Hard to judge from the one video that's available, but I'm of the opinion that Petgrave catches the hip of another player that sends him flying and causes the accident. Usually the other players on the ice's reaction tell you something, and while of course most of them were more concerned about the injury, if Nottingham players thought it was an intentional act, I'm sure one of them would have jumped the Sheffield player. As for neck guards, I had to wear one until I was 18. The one I wore in my late teens was nothing more than a piece of fabric round my neck, probably offered zero protection in reality. I've seen the odd adult player wearing them, but among ice hockey players there is this culture of having to appear as tough as possible, which means no neck guard and the minimum facial protection, which means when they turn 18, most switch to the half visor, even though if we were all honest with ourselves, we should be wearing full face protection. ETA - Trivial side note, which is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things I know, but whoever is writing articles of the UK tabloids could have stopped for 2 seconds to do some basic fact checking, apparently Johnson is a former NFL player and played at the University of Maryland....
