  1. A draw about right. We were poor in the first half with no out ball and we were all saying Taylor has to come on to inject some pace. Credit to the manager for changing it at half time. Delighted to see Macleman playing and scoring a fantastic individual goal. Not safe yet and injuries are piling up. Once again Dolanski was excellent at the back.

  2. If Golding is out for the rest of the season we will struggle to create chances. We need to get one more win but it will not be easy without him. Hope the manager plays Macleman who proved earlier in the season he could score goals. Tough game against the Spartans this week. Hope Clyde draw and Bonnyrigg lose which will give us a cushion. Still think the last home game against Clyde may be crucial.

  3. On seeing that Golding was absent and Jones was playing I felt a point would be good. Golding has great movement and creates opportunities for others. Hopefully he will be available for next week as our record at East Fife is poor. We improved when Jones came off as Bray installed some much needed pace . Booth is a real find. Forfar were stuffy but apart from the goal which should have been better defended they created nothing and with a wee bit of luck we could have snatched a winner. 6 games to go and 1 or perhaps 2 wins should be enough

  4. Another win would go a long way to securing safety and it is still tight at the bottom. It would be nice to score 3 goals in a match but Forfar are difficult to break down. The movement of Golding up front has made a big difference even though he is not a prolific scorer. If he was he would be playing at a higher level.Booth at left back has been a great signing and Gallacher is a talented footballer. Surprised Macleman has not been given more game time since he did score goals for us but perhaps he is a too similar player to the other midfielders and is being kept for next season.

Hopefully 3 points on Saturday and we can then relax a little

  5. I agreeBooth looks a good player but he failed to get close enough to his opponent allowing him to cross on 3 occasions one of which led to the goal. He must improve on that aspect of his game and hopefully Allan Hale saw it. Overall, however, we look a much better team. Even if we finish bottom I am more confident  now of winning a playoff which was not the case 2 months ago

  6. First visit this season and was encouraged by the football played in the first half. Reverted to type for most of the second lying too deep and hitting long aimless balls. Thought Draper was excellent but disappointed in Macleman who was caught in possession too often and slow on the ball. Cooney is slow which cost us an unnecessary penalty. Wins may help the confidence of the team but scoring goals will be an issue as a complete lack of creativity in midfield other than for our goal. The standard in the division will I suspect be poor. We are a very young side and hopefully we will improve as the players adjust to this level

  7. No doubt that Kane is a goal scorer but did little in the last 3 months of the season possibly due to an injury which he was carrying. I am not convinced he will do well at a higher level as he is not good  holding up the ball and linking play. His main strength is being able to outspeed defenders. He has been a great asset to Elgin and without him this season and his goals we would have finished bottom. I wish him the best of luck wherever he ends up.

  8. Brilliant summing up by Briggsy’s Ghost.

I had a feeling something was going to happen late in the game. Congratulations to Elgin for surviving as I had low confidence they would. Ross Draper was superb again and delighted he got the goal to keep us up. Ithink Albion will be in the playoffs  but are fully capable of beating Spartans or Brechin.

Next year is going to be hard but new signings are required to freshen up and improve the team if we are to avoid a similar situation. Good luck to whoever is the new manager in attracting quality players to Elgin as he will need it!

  9. A must win for Elgin  and even then it may not be enough to avoid finishing bottom with a last game away to Bonnyrigg.

We can only hope Elgin win this Sat and Albion lose which would make us safe. Should be a big crowd and with the Moray Music festival in the park all weekend parking will be difficult so get there early

  10. Anyone of the 3 can finish bottom. It does not matter who they all play as everyone is capable of beating each other. I did not fancy our chances today with the new manager bounce and our chosen team looked weak. Is Brian Cameron injured again? We need to win at home next week against Dumbarton who have nothing to play for to give us a chance as Bonnyrigg away in the final game will be really tough if it is still relevant

  11. I have just listened to the after match interview with Gavin Price. I like the guy and he has done a good job generally given the huge difficulty in attracting suitable players due to location. However I totally disagree with his view of the game and particularly his comment that he saw signs of progress today. We have had some poor performances at home over the past few months but I felt today it was a very poor performance and at times men against boys. Stirling were much stronger physically all over the park and while the 3 goals were gifts from Elgin this does reflect the lack of quality in this team which has been apparent since September last year! A few good results then masked the ability of this Elgin team which in my opinion is the worst Elgin side for at least 5 years. If it had not been for Hester’s previous goals we would be bottom away behind. Next week’s game at Albion is massive but I cannot see this Elgin side winning again this season. I will probably eat my words when Elgin beat Stirling on Tuesday!

  12. important game for both teams for different reasons. If Elgin lose and Albion and Bonnyrigg win Elgin go bottom. Elgin still to play Albion away and Bonnyrigg away in the last game of the season. I am not confident about Elgin’s chances but a surprise win  v Stirling this Saturday would help a lot. A nervous end to the season

  13. Terrible performance with hardly an attempt on goal. We have been playing the same now for weeks at home . A few passes along the back followed by the big hoof up the park in the hope  Hester will score. At this rate we will be fighting with Bonnyrigg to avoid relegation. No doubt Gavin will partly blame the pitch but Stranraer we’re able to get the ball down and play. Their problem was the final pass otherwise the margin of victory would have been much greater. Elgin have 2 games away this week and need to get some points before we play Bonnyrigg at home. The style of play has to change but even with thathappening we may simply not be good enough and a few wins at the end of 2022 simply disguised that fact. In recent years we have failed to get out of the division even playing good football but we have not seen any entertaining football at home this season.

  14. East Fife were deserved winners and should have won by a bigger margin. Elgin for the umpteenth time at home were really poor. Slow ponderous passing along the back four yet again followed by a hopeless punt upfield. Elgin badly lack creative midfielders. This is the most boring Elgin side I have seen for a few years. We are still 3rd but only 8 points off the bottom! Anyone this year can go down and Elgin need to improve rapidly at home

  15. Dumbarton exposed the limitations of this Elgin side. They sat in deep even early on and like the Forfar game Elgin had no idea how to break down their defence. Dumbarton were impressive attacking with pace on the counterattack and our defenders struggled. Hopefully Nicholson will be back for the next game  as our left back struggled today. Elgin are better away from home on the counter attack. Will be surprised if Dumbarton do not win the league. Pity about the performance given the bigger crowd

  16. Elgin have history in not being able to break  down a defence when playing against 10 men. Forfar were well organised and at half time I said to my fellow supporters the game would end 1.0. Elgin never looked like scoring and the final pass or cross was woeful. I can understand why Forfar are struggling and I would say it was the poorest Forfar team I have seen up here. This league is full of average or poor teams this year and in my view any team is capable of winning it or finishing bottom. Any team including Elgin should worry if they go on a bad run. It looks like Brechin will win the highland league and if they do I think they would beat the lowlandleague winners as that league looks weaker this year. A few interesting months ahead!

  17. Agree entirely with afca32. Terrible game played at 100 mph and Elgin unable to get any possession not for the first time this season. A lucky 3 points and we will need to play a lot better this Saturday and try and slow the game down to keep better possession. Kane had little chance this evening due to diabolical service from our midfield but our back four were solid
