  1. How exactly would he turn his powers of epilepsy to rape? Wait in a secluded area until a woman came along, pretend to have a fit then pounce when she cmae over to help?
  2. I wish. Got the flu at the moment. I've been rushing to the toilet every 20 minutes for the past 3 days to empty my bowels but I'm feeling a bit better now and I've got the the stage where there's nothing left in there. But every 20 minutes I still get this pain in my stomach like I need a huge shit, run the toilet and I have work hard to push out some unsatisfying wee skoosh of shite.
  3. Fucking hell. Just when you said that, I relaised that all the folk starting uni now were in primary school when I started uni too.
  4. Gamer Like Gladiator crossed with Spartacus with a dash of the Running Man for the Playstation generation...except that it's pish. 1/10
  5. In my freshers week I only really met up with one person I knew from school and the rest of the time just went out with people I met from my flat or my block and their friends and usually got chatting to folk when we were out. I'd heard that you make loads and loads of friends during freshers week and spend the rest of the year whittling them down to the ones you'll be friends with through uni. I found that to be pretty accurate. I didn't really make 'good friends' with anyone from my course until the last couple of years. A combination of missing quite a bit of classes, going in like a zombie due to lack of sleep or too much drink and not going to any of the chemistry social stuff meant I wasn't exactly at my most sociable with my classmates.
  6. I agree. It was a pile of w**k. Although he's right, it was "typical Cohen brothers stuff".
  7. Star Trek Not a big Trekkie but I really enjoyed this. Obviously everybody knows all the characters and it was good to see them as younger versions and how they came together and got to know each other (kind of). Really good special effects, good acting, decent plot. If there was one thing that let it down, the story wasn't really as 'epic' as I would have liked. It was, more or less, a simple baddie revenge story with some really nice bits thrown in on the side. I wasn't really interested with Eric Banna's character or the Romulans. 7/10 District 9 I liked this. It took a while to get going and the oh so subtle comparisons between apartheid and the way the aliens were treated was a bit boring and patronising, they even set it in Johannesburg. The 'documentary narrative' went on a bit too long but once the story got going, I really enjoyed it. Good acting, I felt like I cared about the characters. 7/10 Maybe I'm being a bit harsh on both films. Both could have hit an 8/10 but both good films, I'd recommend them.
  8. Not really. The Godfather, The Sopranos. Even though almost all the characters were unpleasent, you cared what happens to them and were even on their side a lot of the time.
  9. The Reaping A very poor Exorcist wannabe, satan vs god borefest. It really was like the writers watched The Exorcist and took notes, ticking off all the elements a film like this should have. Unfortunately, they failed spectacularly. And the real failure for a film of this genre was that there were no real scary or disturbing moments. Hilary Swank plays the cliche-ridden ex-priest whos faith has been lost and has turned out to be an incredibly unlikely Professor (yes, a fucking Proffesor) in some mysterious subject which seems to involve running around the world disproving miracles. Of course she's lured to some backwater redneck town full of devil worshippers to stop the rising of the anti-christ. Shite. 2/10
  10. I took Advance Higher Chemistry before doing 1st year uni Chemistry and there were a lot of similarities and it did help but I would say that getting what you need to get into uni should be your priority next year. And if not taking Advanced Higher History will help get the other Highers, I'd drop it. If you really want to be prepared for you go, do a bit of reading in your spare time. Uni's not as tough as some people imagine it. I got better results at uni than I did at school.
  11. The inside of a spoon is like a concave lens. Your face would be on the left of that diagram. If your face was further away than the focal distance, the image would appear inverted once it had reflected back off the surface of the spoon. The back of the spoon is like the top diagram, so that's why your face would look the right way up.
  12. I did Fever Pitch for my 6th year study in English. A good one to choose.
  13. Burn After Reading - 4/10 The Cohen brothers continue to disappear up their own arse holes. Every single character is quirky, zany and/or kooky...why? There were some funny bits in there, like the Russian embassy guy asking if the files were mac or PC but they were trying to be funny all the time and most of it didn't really work for me. Brad Pitt saying 'f**k' 10 times in one sentence just for the sake of it isn't really funny.
  14. Not saying they're not funny. I'm a big fan of theirs. It's just not the kind of comedy which gets big laughs from me. Lots of wee laughs and generally very funny and very good film.
  15. I watched Pineapple Express last night and I absolutely loved it. There wasn't too many luagh out loud moments (there never is with Rogan and Appatow) but it had it's funny moments and I realy loved the story. Rogan and Franco were brilliant in too I thought. A very solid 8/10. Try sidereel or tvshack for streaming.
  16. The Reader: 8/10 Overall pretty good. The first 30/45 minutes are very slow and pretty boring. It tries very, very hard to be an 'arty', 'European' type film which spoiled the beginning a little bit for me but when the main part of the story kicks in it was very interesting and quite thought provoking. Don't think it would be an injustice if it picked up a couple of Oscars.
  17. Ho ho ho. Very good. I suppose I was asking for that one.
  18. But why did the guy kill himslef at the end, he didn't have to.
