  1. Perhaps more Rock / Metal with electronic influences rather than complete genre crossovers, but here's a few that might fit the bill:
  2. Yep, I remember Hibs at least matching us in the first half, only difference had been we took our chances whilst they missed theirs. I saw nothing to suggest this game was beyond them. Not long after going 3-0 down they created a good chance that Griffiths missed. I mused at half time that I thought there was a real possibility we could get beat and it was met with universal derision. I wasn't the most popular person on the journey back. I still maintain Taylor's "sitter" missed in ET was a good save instead.
  3. Admittedly not at the Barrowlands, but I have seen venues kill the power the the stage if they feel the bands are taking the rip with curfew times, so I assume Devin is in the clear. I thought it was an enjoyable gig overall. I've never been able to get into Leprous and the live setting did nothing to change that for me. Tesseract were great as always and they're certainly improving as a live band all the time. I like the addition of the ambient interludes between songs, it's certainly better than tuning noises and "Is everyone feeling good?" tired old patter. The exclusion of Acceptance from the set was disappointing, but it would mean two other songs getting cut so I can live with it. I thought Devin's set was a good mix of old and new. I thought it strange he didn't play Truth considering he's reworked it for the new album. I'm definitely in a minority with this opinion, but I can't stand Devin's high school / Family Guy style patter and it detracts from the show every time for me. I get that the character of Devin Townsend is a big draw for some people, but I'd rather have another song or two instead of penis jokes. And my favourite Devin tracks never seem to make the setlist. In four viewings I've seen him play Seventh Wave and Grace once each. That sounds pretty negative, but it was a good show and I'll doubtless go see him again next time he comes around.
  4. I'm just back from Budapest (no, I am not the guy who spent his trip to Budapest in a Scottish themed bar posting on the COYB Facebook Group) where I met my Ferencvaros supporting mate who would occasionally attend Falkirk games with me in our uni days. He's briefed the troops so they ken we're the good guys and they're looking forward to welcoming us in the unlikely event we'll play Ferencvaros, or backing us to the hilt if we play Újpest. I met a few of the other Fradi fans and they were all top lads so completely selfishly I hope a game against Ferencvaros is on the cards.
  5. Taylor Morgan's debut was one my favourites. In that five minutes he exemplified the "defend from the front" philosophy - chasing down obvious lost causes, pressuring the Hibs defence and got a couple of good blocks in to prevent Hibs punting the ball up the park. What a shame the only other contribution he ever made was making an arse of header attempt in the Hibs semi, allowing Sibbald to score. Anyway, Austin's angled and diagonal runs on to balls over the top of the United defence was very Lyle Taylor-esque in my eyes. It's a tactic I haven't seen us use since, well, Lyle Taylor, and it was pretty effective. His aerial ability looked decent too, competing for many headers albeit not many of those were won. Early days yet, but he looks a much more complete player to me than Bob McHugh and I'd like to Austin gradually phased into the squad at the expense of McShug.
  6. If you enjoy sub 5% beers and lagers especially then it's a fantastic service. Otherwise, it's not really worth the expense. You'd be better saving the money and choosing your own stuff at a bottleshop. The box was often like playing roulette in terms of quality and on a couple of occasions it was more like Russian Roulette. It seemed like an endless stream of lagers and pales under 5%. To their credit, you do get a lot of exclusives in the box, but they don't tend to be anything mindblowing. When they got an exclusive deal to introduce two Oskar Blues beers into the UK, it was a Mexican styled lager and an American styled wheat ale. Both were most acceptable, but considering some of the beers Oskar Blues do it was a massive disappointment The lack of choice was an issue for me. In an effort to overcome this not uncommon criticism they introduced a preference service where you could indicate the type of beers you prefer. My selection of IPAs was soundly ignored an my box contained the maximum number of darker beers available that month. Their claim that they will be supplying beers you can't find in the supermarket is misleading - I've had plenty of supermarket staples, including Brewdog's This is Lager, Dead Pony Club, Black Isle's Yellowhammer and Fyne Ales' Jarl which you could probably find in your local cornershop, never mind supermarkets. I've cancelled due to the frequent disappointments and signed up for this beer club instead. Introductory offers for Beer52 tend to be very good, so I guess it won't hurt to give them a try.
