  1. Some great performances yesterday but wanted to comment on Charlie Telfer - I thought he was really good at getting the ball down and making us play. Slotted in to the starting line up after a bit of an absence with no issues.

McGregor too - best performance from him in an airdrie shirt and just goes to show how a slightly different appraoch can pay dividends....Tumilty looked solid and gave Smith all he could handle, but crumpled against McG.

I personally don’t like them and I’m obviously not alone in that as an Airdrie fan, but it’s a bit of an awkward one because there’s obviously nothing actually wrong with the flags. There are others that like them and like having it as part of the club’s identity, and others that don’t really care and aren’t bothered much about it either way. It probably works out that those that like that aspect are the loudest section of the support, and they’re brilliant for loudly getting behind the team as they did last night - of course them being the loudest means our fanbase gets the reputation of all being that way. The majority of fans are either like myself, don’t like them but accept them as it’s an unchangeable aspect of our support, or just aren’t bothered about them at all.

There’s a lot of fans that support the SNP and independence (including an SNP MP) that are just a less vocal section of the crowd. I’m not an SNP supporter personally and not particularly passionate about independence but I’m a socialist that’s very wary of British nationalism.

Hopefully that clears it up a bit. I’d say it’s very much a mixed fanbase but that one side of it is more vocal which means they play a bigger role in shaping the reputation of the club with others.

    word for word.

  3. I think that the 2 sections Accies had last night hold about 450 fans and they weren't quite full. No idea what we had.

Accies were really sharp in defence/closing us down first half, that coupled with us being a bit nervous resulted in us being really average for the first 45. Tumilty was (sadly) excellent against Smith 1st half. But other than standard anxiety around free kicks and corners I never felt that Accies were dangerous.

I'd imagine they will be better on Saturday, the challenge for us is whether we'll be more like our usual selves - if we can score first I reckon we'll be fine.

Absolutely, there are double standards everywhere and that is deemed acceptable,  with Mental Health coming to the fore , which is not before time...  With us living in a nil by mouth,   by a controlling nationalist government....

Football matches as proven recently are fair game,  giving health secretarys( why health) plenty time on tv and radio..

Is the Fashanu song acceptable could Rico (and I have the utmost respect for the lad as a player and person) take offense at the wording.....YES

Also is it acceptable to totally character assassinate players like Ryan Conroy for 90 minutes cause we dont like him....  Is that abuse acceptable....????

The crazy thing is and this is all Hypothetical.....  Rico takes offense at the Fash song, because of the wording and gets sung once,  and we end up trying to find the person singing the loudest to bring him to justice.....  taking the knee,  BLM etc Or Joe Blogs sitting next to him who has constant abuse for 80 minutes and is struggling to cope with it...

What help or protection does he get,    or is that just part of the game.........

Think about this one who do you think would get charged if Lithgow or Goodwillie went to the old bill reporting abuse and character assassination, ......  The way the law is , we would be down to crowds of about  with 150 if that went south....

.......And before any snowflakes get the wrong message I do not condone any crime or potential crime that any said individuals have had written press about......

I don't think I'll ever get over the irony of folk having a moan about stuff and then complaining about snowflakes.

I’m a season ticket holder so I might be the wrong person to ask but Airdrie home games in League 1 are unappealing to me (and presumably everyone else) for two main reasons. Both of which feed into the other. Firstly, there’s zero atmosphere and the whole experience is a bit soulless and joyless. Secondly, and most importantly, we never fucking win at home. Either would make home games far more palatable but we get neither of them. Home games would be far more palatable if there was an atmosphere at games and/or you were going somewhere like an old Broomfield, a Somerset Park, a Palmerston or even a Cliftonhill. Obviously that’s never going to happen but the stadium can make for a decent enough atmosphere when there’s a crowd in. The Falkirk game last week, and the ones previous, have been some of the more enjoyable home games in recent years because there’s actually been a crowd in. Just look at the Motherwell game also. But all sins around there not being an atmosphere would be forgiven if we actually won more games than we didn’t at home. That’s what would ultimately get more people into the ground and in turn would create a much better atmosphere. We saw it during our run at the end of last season. You actually looked forward to watching the home games on a Tuesday night, more people were more invested, people were positive online, bought merchandise etc. It’s just a shame we couldn’t get into the stadium and manifest that positivity in person. I’m not sure the price puts people off although I don’t think it helps and it gives people another reason not to go. Again if you start winning games and give people a reason to go they will pay for it. But it’s grim at the moment when you’re turning up for a run of the mill league 1 game, there’s 50 away fans, you’re playing Murrayball and you’re not even winning. It’s just not enjoyable at all.

So aye the TLDR version really is, if we want to get more people through the turnstiles, start winning some fucking home games please. Over to you Mr Murray.

We also usually find a way to lose any important games when we manage to get a crowd in.

On top of the folk that don’t have access the online stuff, I’m sure there are others who are just lazy and can’t be arsed going online to buy tickets. I know in my group of mates it doesn’t take much persuasion to spend an afternoon in the pub rather than going to the game. This just gives them another excuse.

I am definitely in the camp of not being arsed to go online and buy the tickets.

So, atmosphere at game, general atmosphere around the club, failing to follow the shite camera every club had last season so losing some interest, price up, online purchase only. That's my reasons. I'm sure I'll be back sooner rather than later; it's not a "planned" absence or anything.

I think it's a strange time to be signing a new squad player.   Has someone been told the league will start again soon?   If not why add another wage to the budget with no games?

Especially a player who (ok with the McKay connection could be starting) won't be a first choice starter ever week.   Their could be something with the McDonald going to dunfermline deal bringing available money but surely with no games adding to the squad at this time of the year is just strange.

Well that part's now been answered. Baffling decision unless it's to cut costs by allowing a striker to move on.

A win would take us above Cove which seems bizarre when we’re always one defeat away from people calling for Murray to be sacked. It’s really important that we do get a result though. I think this season will be a bit like last season with the top three or four teams being pretty close to each other. If we play like we did in the first half today then we’re more than a match for anyone in this league, it’s just a case of waiting to see which Airdrie turn up.

I'm ambivalent about Murray, but you've hit on the issue with him - we have no consistency. I said it a few times last season, we had one 5 game winning streak but apart from that we only won 2 in a row twice. We are capable of beating most teams and that's what makes it frustrating.

Having said that, we've definitely improved defensively under him and it will only take a tweak or two to get that balance between goals and clean sheets.

Here's hoping we get it right next week.
