  1. Bankies played well, & battled hard against Buffs last Saturday. Could easily have left Kilwinning with a point, if it wasn't for Carlo Monti's "wonder goal", to win it for Buffs. I recon Bankies will give Cumnock a hard game! Should be a cracker, with both teams desperate to get the 3 points.
  2. Buffs last won the Super Premier League in season 2003/2004.Manager,Chris Strain has assembled a new, young team, with a few experienced "old heads", for this season, & their league form has surprised many. Buffs have been 'grinding out wins' in the league, & sit proudly at the top, at the moment. Can Buffs win the league this year? What's your opinion?
  3. Got to agree! A couple of elderly Pollok fans shook my hand, & congratulated us in Buffs' win. Pollok fans also applauded Sam when he was being carried off injured. Respect!!
  4. Slight tilt to the loan side of the thread, but glad to see former Buffs striker Ross Stewart, doing so well in the SPL with Ross County. Scoring regularly, & getting County's winner at Motherwell today! Getting tipped in today's Sun, for a Scotland call up.
  5. An honest summary of the match,Bill. Buffs set about their business from the kick off, & as you said, the damage was done in the 1st half. I must congratulate Bankies & Yoker on the ground's improvements, thogh! The pitch looked excellent for an 'astroturf' surface, & the stadium had a general freshness! I must also add, the cheeseburger that I had from the snack bar, was the best I've tasted for a long time! Good luck in the coming season!
  6. Talbot 2-0 Rob Roy 0-2 Buffs 1-2 Cumnock 3-0 Hurlford 1-1 Troon Medda 2-2 Largs Pollok 2-0 Rutherglen 1-0
  7. Great 9 - 0 win for Buffs against Ardeer Thistle today! As the score suggests, Buffs weren't really tested, but another excellent performance from the lads, & some great goals too.... especially the 25 yard screamer from young Chris "Gowser" McGowan!
  8. Kilwinning Rangers 2 - 0 Dundee North End Dundee N E rarely threatened in a match totally dominated by Buffs. The players that Chris Strain has put together, to rebuild the team, are beginning to really look the part for the coming season. The pitch looked superb, & the new Buffs Park & facilities are really shaping up. Everyone should be congratulated on all their hard work!
  9. I echo this post by tombo! Medda were better organised than Buffs, closed us down pretty quickly, and although it's a wrench admitting it, to our closest rivals, deserved their victory. Credit where it's due though,on the massive turnaround ,and great run of results! All the best for the rest of the season guys, and look forward to Buffs getting revenge next season!
  10. A massive game for both teams on Saturday, fotj! Even at this early stage in the season.
  11. It did look like the lino was joinin' in with the Penicuik celebrations!
  12. That's probably true & sounds more likely Markka, thanks for the info. It verifies what I believed about Abbey Park not being Buff's first ground,& fits in with this thread....another "lost junior ground". Cheers mate.
  13. Cheers for that Markka.Yeah,Claremont Park is where I was talking about, but had forgotten it's name. The former park's name & position makes sense,as the Claremont Hotel (now called Taylor's) is nearby,at the other side of the railway station.
  14. Loved reading this.Really interesting to see how things were & how grounds from the past looked. I believe Kilwinning Rangers hadn't always played at Abbey Park. I think their first ground was in Stevenston Road in Kilwinning, behind Howie's Garage, near the railway station. The pitch & goals were still there in the '70s & I remember playing there as a kid. A small housing estate was built there in the '80s. Does anyone remember Buffs playing there,or can verify this?
