  1. Read my report it states that he made tremendous saves Fk me could’ve been worse I could’ve punched one of the players
  2. Tbh think I covered that in report, we definitely had an off day in front of goal after being so clinical all season.
  3. Gutted, Scottish cup run at an end Gartcairn 0-2 lochee Gartcairn took on east super team lochee in the Scottish cup today, lochee have been blowing everyone away in the east so the cairn up against it, bookies had us at 9/2 , seldom wrong lol First half it could’ve been 3-3 with both teams creating chances, cairn also had one off the bar. Much as there was loads of chances both teams finishing was poor. Frustrating considering the cairn are top scorers in junior football and lochee are lowing thru the teams from the east. On the stroke of halftime lochee eventually poked one into the net after third attempt. Tbh bit harsh on the cairn. Ht 0-1 Jake replaced an injured Murray at the interval. Both teams came out second half looking to dominate and it was lochee early in second half that scored, a goal that the keeper should’ve had easy, even more so when you consider some of the tremendous saves he had already pulled off. This effectively killed the tie although cairn kept trying but without the spark in front of goals. Liam replaced Sherman early on as the gaffer tried to ignite the spark, Kevin Ross also had to be replaced due an injured ankle, noddy took over from him. With minutes to go giggsy made a reckless challenge on the keeper after he had collected the ball and was shown a straight red. Game ended 0-2 Summing up I believe we more than matched the top team in the east but let ourselves down in front of goal, both teams had many chances, lochee took there’s. Truth is we can play a lot better and we know it but onto league business again next week away to Bellshill. On a side note re being made to move park, there was 67 paying fans there today, we could’ve yet again easily hosted that at our park and hope the powers that be recognises this and gives us the opportunity to show what we deal with and help build a fan base in airdrie. Would also like to thank Phillip Simpson of 525 accountancy for sponsorship of our away strip and also today’s game . Very much needed and appreciated. Lastly thanks to all the boys from lochee, all the best the rest of the season
  4. Next game Scottish cup Gartcairn v Lochee Petershill Park 2.30 pm ko Match sponsor 525 accountant
  5. Thanks to Philip Simpson of 525 accountancy Glasgow for sponsoring our Scottish cup tie against lochee at petershill Park, will certainly help with the extra costs
  6. Another three points on the road. Firstly I’d like to say thank you to players, committee and staff who joined us in a minutes applause to celebrate the life of Chris Armstrong, thank you. Also thanks to peter for his very generous donation to our charity and for his usual hospitality. This was a game with last seasons top two clubs from division two, royal Albert having an indifferent season so far and Gartcairn unbeaten so far with only two draws. Game started at a pace and a returning Barry Mcgeechan brought the tempo up , Ryan Donnelly came in for some tasty treatment from about five different Albert players each one taking a turn, a frustrated giggsy eventually got booked after letting the referee know he was giving him no protection. Half time 0-0 Second half started with the cairn in command , a barry mcgeechan free kick was floated to the six yard line and captain Kevin Ross headed the ball past the flailing keeper. 1-0 Albert up the pace in search of the equaliser and eventually got it, with more than a suspicion of offside. Both teams pushed for the winner and it was that man Sherman who poked home to make it 2-1. Albert then had the ball in the net only for the ref, rightly this time, to call it offside. With Albert pushing it was giggsy who sealed the points with his delightfully trademark lob to make it 3-1 and kill the game off, it was no more than giggsy deserved after some of the treatment he received in the first half. Another three points, just .another day at the office Mon the cairn Man of the match barry mcgeechan. Summing up, first have very physical with both teams giving everything, there was even a ball involved at times, second half deservedly belonged to us and rightly took the three points. That win was for you Craig Armstrong

  8. That’s the thing we don’t pretend, we are in the process of trying to do something about it though. Again only in our fourth season so still a bit to go
  9. Still in negotiations needs to be sorted today Extra expense that we could do without
  10. Footballs always about opinions and we all have our own, this is mine for today.... Gartcairn 3-1 ...half time 1-1 First half we weren’t at the races, don’t know if we’re beginning to believe our own hype but this was a harder game than last week. First half for me belonged completely to yoker took the lead early and had loads of pressure although not the best in front of goals, we also had a couple of chances and thankfully took one thru an exquisite lob by giggsy( Ryan Donnelly) to go in even at halftime. Don’t know what the gaffer said at half time but he got the boys back to doing what we do best. Worked hard with the ball on the deck and stretched the game, Jal decided to turn up for second half and turned on the style weaving thru the defence only to be brought down in the box. Kev Kevin Ross stepped up to slot the ball home to continue his goal scoring spree, yoker then had to push to get the equaliser leaving gaps for the cairn boys to expose. It was that man Barry mcgeechan again taking the ball wide to fire across and Darren Bowie to smash it into the net, game over. Mom jal Jamie Leslie In short...hard fought victory yet again but a deserved win, typical game of two halves. Yoker a decent team and will do damage to others, all the best for rest of the season.
  11. Thanks for the game today guys, definitely a game of two halves All the best for rest of season

  13. We need games like this at our park to help try to build a support, we accepted to easily the last time with kilbirnie as we thought it was about the amount of fans who would possibly be in attendance. We could’ve dealt with what was there and want the opportunity to show it this round.... and hopefully next lol
  14. A big thanks to our away strip sponsor http://www.525accountancy.co.uk/ Your continued support is much appreciated
  15. Wow, now that’s a result, it tops last weeks scottish cup triumph against Kilbirnie,. As we’ve stated the league is our bread and butter and we were on our travels back down to Ayrshire to play second placed Ardrossan Winston Rovers. Great set up in ardrossan and made to feel most welcome, thank you for the hospitality. Now for the game, two very evenly matched sides, first half the physicality of ardrossan stood out, indeed deco was clearly a marked man with three fouls on him in quick succession early doors. Typical junior game in first half with both teams fighting and scratching for every ball, jake Morris had to come off injured in 28 minutes after both he and rovers right mid went for the ball, no quarter given by either player. This resulted in jake being booked and ultimately having to be replaced. Half time 0-0 Second half started the way first ended and it took both teams fifteen-twenty minutes to spark something, ardrossan broke thou and the ball ended up in the net only for ref to call offside, personally don’t think it was offside but we take a break when it comes. On 78 minutes there’s a scramble in front of ardrossans goal and Hepburn managed to poke home at the third attempt. Gartcairn took confidence from this and started playing the free flowing football they have displayed so many times this season. 83 minutes after a tackle just inside the box the cairn were awarded a penalty, super cool Kevin Ross slotted home from the spot to seal the points for table toppers and still unbeaten Gartcairn. Summary... good game for the neutral to watch and easily best team we have played so far. Didn’t play our best but ground out a victory, if I had been writing it was a draw or ardrossan won I couldn’t have complained either. As team performances go it’s up there with the best, not on the eye but for grit, determination and spirit. Ps 10 yellow cards in a game that wasn’t dirty, you can tend to tell when there’s an assessor in the crowd. Once again thank you to our loyal band of supporters, growing every week, need you to tell your friends and help keep pushing us week in week out. Mtc
  16. Away to Ardrossan Winton Rovers tomorrow, sure to be a hard game so any support welcome (Food bank collection also)
  17. Just taking in what a big scalp that was yesterday, not only being forced to play away from home ( needs looking at) but the display we put on after the first twenty minutes. First half finished 1-1 and deservedly went in equal but felt we had by far the better half and if they were honest would agree the shoreline of 3-2 flattered them. Having said that the league is our bread and butter and it’s back down to Ayrshire next week to take on second placed ardrossan winton rovers. Thanks also to the small band of fans that followed us down yesterday, roughly 25 in a crowd of 110. We appreciate it
  18. What a result for Gartcairn today beating super premier team Kilbirnie ladeside on their home pitch. The cairn where forced by the sjfa to play away from mtc Park, there was a couple of options but eventually we accepted kilbirnies offer to play there. Great set up and hospitality so we thank you for that. As for the game, kilbirnie opened us up a few times early on and deservedly scored the opener, just after the ref awarded them a penalty as the young keeper fouled the attacker bearing down on him, thankfully the resulting penalty rebounded off the post and kicked to safety. This got Gartcairn going and after a few attempts eventually Kevin Ross squeezed one over the line from a corner. Half time 1-1 but could easily have been 4-4 Gartcairn for me were the better side in the second half and took control with kev ross getting a deserved second, this seemed to deflate kilbirnie and shortly afterwards deco Thomas Kilmartin scored an absolute peach of a free kick to take us to 3-1 The gaffer Jamie Mckenzie made a few changes to see the game out. Kilbirnie pushed again and scored on the 89th minute to make it squeaky bum time but the cairn saw it out to win 3-2. Summary, underdogs took the day. Great team performance but special mention to young Chris the keeper, kev and deco. Enjoy your night lads
