  1. Without doubt Easton is our most skilled player and can turn a game but he infuriates me with his feigning injury, his discipline, his diving and how ball greedy he is. It's going to be a tight division this season with every team likely beating each other at some point so we need a stable hard working team, emphasis on team. Dylan is maybe a luxury we can live without?
  2. According to fitbastats.com there was a Glen played for us in season 1922/23 and 1925/26. There is a question mark regarding his first name. I vaguely remember a Glen family in Gallowshade (I lived there until I was 10), I'll ask my mum at the weekend when I see her.
  3. Dumbarton publicans bartering business on the Forfar thread. Is this good or just sad?
  4. I can't argue with any of that. Meechan looks quite comfortable on the ball but I haven't seen a meaningful tackle from him yet and he is out paced by most opposition forwards. McCallum is having a real drop in form, losing goals that he wouldn't have last season. I like Whyte a lot and Andy Munro too, though maybe not rating him as highly as JW. He has a presence though both physically and his personality so is an asset. I haven't seen enough of Fraser yet but I have seen Willie Muir and maybe big Marc needs dropping at least until he's sorted out why he's off the boil, we have two properly good keepers so why play one who is currently and uncharacteristicly prone to mistakes?
  5. I agree, he is a very talented player, one of, if not the, most skilful players in our division. I just wish he would get over himself and remember it's a team game. He's capable of making killer passes but he prefers to beat several players then take them on again by which time the opposition has crowded him out.
  6. It's really only "traditional" since the 70s though is it not ? The darker blue combos are more historical. Aye, you're making a fair point, what the Forfar Boys Club wear is most like our original strips but no one is still living that watched them play in those. Like TBS states, the sky blue is more 70s which is when I started going up regular with my Dad. For most over 40 and under 90 that is the traditional colour most associated with us.
  7. A proper Forfar Athletic kit that is, no more of this dark/navy blue dominant colour. We may not like being called the Sky Blues but we love our Sky blue.
  8. The Courier states he'll in competition with McCallum for the no 1 jersey. Have I missed something, is Grant Adam away?
  9. No. Turned out GB was quite right on one thing at least. Agreed, I wasn't suggesting he should return just fishing a certain individual on here (TBS) who was distraught when he was released and considered him a footballing God.
  10. Kerr Hay released by Montrose, do you think anyone on here would want him back at Forfar?
  11. Kerr has ability but I've heard his attitude and discipline are not conducive to a good dressing room. He didn't get a run when he was with Forfar either, he had one major fan among the Loons support (some say Kerr was his b*****d child) but wasn't rated by pretty much everyone else.
  12. And Dick Campbell, Tommy Campbell, Doug Houston etc didn't sign the odd balloon?
  13. Dick is a dinosaur living in a PC digital world. That's not a criticism of him, far from it, (I'm still a huge fan of him even though he's your gaffer)but a criticism of a sport where all involved should wear their heart on their sleeve like Dick does. Unfortunately referees, in particular, appear to be shielded from criticism and question. I was less than impressed with The Courier today, the "headline" could have suggested DC was giving up football until you read the article.
  14. I thought it was only last season? I've not had my caffeine fix this morning yet though....
  15. Good post, remember Swanks came to us following a strop he took at Arbroath very similar to the strop he just threw at Station Park. I know Dick likes and rates him but openly admitted in the past he was very difficult to manage. Gary made him captain, not Dick, in a futile attempt to get him to play on form week in week out. The likely scenario /\ I have mixed feelings about this, sorry to see the man who scored both goals in our only victory over Rangers but glad to see an overpaid lazy player with a childish attitude go.
  16. Scott McBride has signed for us, what are your thoughts on him Lichties?
  17. The rumour in Forfar last week was he asked to be released but was told no chance as he'd wanted his very long contract (rumoured to have a must play condition) so should honour it. The story goes he says he'll "retire" from the game until his contract is up if Bollan stays. I don't know if this is real but time will tell, he was hinting on social media when Dick was appointed at Gayfield he'd be joining imminently but that didn't happen so could be a load of crap. He didn't play like he wanted away during the playoffs. i see many of you think TOB will play at CB, trust me, and the Cowden guys will confirm, he's a decent CB but a great midfielder. All joking apart, I really thought he'd go to a bigger club.
  18. Dick Campbell fits in a Hillman Imp? I still hope it's Gary Bollan.....
  19. I hope he wasn't in any karaoke bars. All joking aside, Dick will be with you next season I'm sure. All the best to him and Arbroath next season. Hopefully you guys and us survive in League 1 and Montrose come up - and if Brechin come back down....
  20. Firstly I was in Monifieth this morning watching my eldest boy play a match and it occurred to me it's accessible by land, sea and air for our worldwide fan base and it would a shame for the good townsfolk of Monifieth to be the only burgh not contributing to the new force in football. It's reasonably accessible by road, it's close to Dundee Airport until we build our own Angus United International Airport and we can build a port there for cruise liners which would be put off by the smell if we built it in Arbroath. And as JoseMarooniho pointed out the site in Friockheim is now a large housing development.
  21. In a couple of seasons when Montrose have joined Brechin, Forfar and Arbroath in the Championship we'll have our first amalgamation. Dick will be director of football, Darren will be head coach and Gary and Stewart will take over the reigns at Kirriemuir Thistle and Carnoustie Panmure and get them up then we'll amalgamate with them too. World domination will follow for Angus United. At this point we may have to knock down the stadium in Monifieth made of Forfar's west terrace, Brechin's north stand, Montrose's stand, Arbroath's pitch all surrounded by a hedge with onsite smoke house and bridie bakery for a super stadium of 60000 seats and 10000 safe seating area.
  22. Congratulations to Arbroath. The league doesn't lie, the best team wins over the season. Well done to DC, he's demonstrated to the Forfar board they were wrong, even more wrong appointing Bollan. Enjoy your night all Arbroath supporters.
  23. Brechiners friendly? Usually find they, if they bother to speak, are nosey. Not angry just making a point as the Brechin "massive" are frequenting the league two forum with their usual "wit". Bar10 and Troopers are not my places to go, more 84 Lounge kinda guy. No, not ex Dispatch. My missus is and she has no idea who would've been their silver fox and a Loons fan. If you're (note correct grammar) insinuating I'm Ducat then I will be an angry man.
  24. The FACT is, until last season, the Loons finished higher in the league than Brechin for a few consecutive seasons until we imploded last season. The only good things about Brechin are the roads out and Darren Dods. The Subuteo stand is good for comic value I suppose.... The fact all other Angus residents consider Brechin to be the worst town, that speaks for itself. I visit all the other Burghs regularly and can walk about them unnoticed but in Brechin I get looked at as I'm clearly not related to them so stand out due to my obvious physical characteristic of not having a chip on my shoulder.
