  1.

Am I missing something here or is your arithmetic hopeless.

The distances you have just quoted implies Ayr is bang in the middle between Dumbarton and Stranraer. So none are closer.

    I misread.

My point was that Stranraer is further away from Dumbarton than Ayr.

My arithmetic isn't hopeless. I have an E in "O" Grade Arithmetic so I'm qualified as an Arithmetician.

  2. I'm not sure that Ayr are fully part time.. Pretty sure their youth setup is full time and a good chunk of their first team is full time, read it somewhere.

Asked on their page on here what the script is.

Fair enough. I just thought that those left in the playoffs were p/t. My bad.
  3. Well that's Livi down. It's either Ayr United or Stranraer for the Championship next season.....

    Excellent news for us.

It means that there will be a more competitive edge at the bottom end of the table, and two part time teams vying for ninth position or better.

It's a much better option than us being the only part-timers next year.

A warm welcome to the other part-time team, whoever you might be.

  4. I would agree, had we been here only a couple of years, but, we have been here 5 years, that would be an established championship team had we been full-time. I understand his comments, doesn't mean I like them. Surprised they even mentioned us,

BBC Football gave us a decent mention recently, highlighting our good run in the Championship and reminding the public that we are doing well despite being p/t. Short, but decent article..

  5. I'll be in Florida this time next week. I'll have a word with him...

I was in Tampa two days last week. Nae sign of him. Must be coming back home, maybe he didn't enjoy the 90 degree heat.

Sure I saw Jimmy Bullard in Univrsal Studios in Orlando, though.........needs a guid haircut.

  6. Like others I'm sorry to see Taggart leave. Not bothered about the others that much.

Hope we can get Brown off the books. And Nade back in again!

Would consider Aggy again if it was up to me.

As ever, the close season will be interesting.

I hope Stee gets it right this year. I think he will do a lot better, somehow.

Do you maybe mean Cowden in 2009? Whatever, Livi have three to play and need five points from the three, assuming we get no points from our four games. It's not impossible and I'm not taking anything for granted. However it would be unlikely.

We've stiill to play a Hibs team that are guaranteed a play-off place, and are playing worse that at any time I can ever remember - 5 points from 24 as it stands. Surely Hibs will "Hibs it" when we play them? They've "Hibsed it" for weeks now, so maybe we can get a point - or three - as they take their foot off the gas again, in preparation for their demise in the play-offs?

I think it might have been the one full season that Brian Fairley spent with us. There was some rumour of an alleged betting scandal involving Morton players. I definitely wouldn't name Alex Williams as one of these though. Pretty sure Morton were 10 up with 12 to play for and they made a complete Jordan Spieth of it. That taught me never to take anything for granted when it comes to football.

If it's the season I remember, Morton were about 20 points clear at Christmas. They came to us early January and I think we beat them 3-0 or 3-1. The capitulationstarted after that.

They ended up a point or two below us at the end of the season in fourth place, IIRC, and we missed out on a promotion because Hamilton pipped us to second place by a point or two on the last day.

I can't remeber who won the league that year.

  9. Win the next three at home and it'll be guaranteed.

Two wins should just about be enough, in reality.

    Whoa, easy tiger.

In reality we're playin QoTS, whose record against us is unquestionably good, then against a confirmed play-off team, then a resurgent St. MIrren , followed by another play-off team, and finish against a team with nothing to lose.

It will not be easy to get two wins from any of these games, in my opinion.

Remember it's the Sons we're discussing here, and this hasn't been the easiest season!

  10. HMRC aren't claiming for the same money twice.

If they win in the Supreme Court, they get to claim back unpaid PAYE on the loans from, for example, RFC 2012. In addition, there is a new income tax charge on EBT type loans not repaid by April 2019. So, if the employee repays the loan, there is no additional tax charge. If the loan is still outstanding in April 2019, the additional income tax charge is due.

If the employer has already paid all of the PAYE, for example if RFC 2012 pays up after losing in the Supreme Court, then the PAYE paid is deducted from the new income tax charge on the loan. Which should mean no more tax to pay.

If the PAYE actually paid is less than the new tax charge on the loan, then the balance has to be paid. So, if the employer doesn't pay any of the PAYE, then the new tax charge is due in full.

New legislation, which will be the subject of consultation over the summer, will allow HMRC to recover the new income tax charge on the loan, or the original PAYE if higher, from the employee where it cannot reasonably be collected from the employer. Because the new rules haven't been drafted yet, people have to use "may" when referring to this point because the precise circumstances where the employees will be liable won't be known until the new rules are issued. HMRC have not said "where the employer is in liquidation". They have said "where it cannot reasonably be collected from the employer" which will cover cases where an employer company has been set up overseas, for example.

If HMRC lose in the Supreme Court, then there will be no PAYE charge. But the new income tax charge on the loan will still apply, if the loan is not repaid by April 2019. This tax will be payable by the employer but, again, HMRC will be allowed to recover it from the employee where it cannot reasonably be collected from the employer.

Trying to summarise quite a lot of stuff in a few lines, so it is probably oversimplified. Others may be able to explain it better or correct my mistakes.

I take it you don't know Bennett very well.

That is a pretty good summary you provided.

However, please be prepared for a TL.DR-type of response from Bennett.......if any response at all. He won't read it, I'll hazard a guess.........
