For those of you who think things are pretty dire, and with a pre Christmas game against Falkirk looming, lets take a look back at happier times.....oh wait....

I have to laugh. On the games where we got a single goal, the Scorers are listed instead of the Scorer.

Puts a positive spin on what was a dreadful run of results. :1eye

Your memory is playing tricks Nowhereman. in 1976 our average was still a multiple of 1000 perhaps 2-3 times that. In1976 we ran, if I remember correctly, 17 buses from Dumbarton for the cup semi as well as many going by train or car. Three buses ran from Helensburgh. The quarter final against Killie at Boghead attracted around 8,000 - with around 5,000 supporting the home team. The real dwindle in numbers started around 1979.

IIRC We had 12,500 at the Killie game, and 10,000 at the Partick game.

Yes, that's right ,no starting place for Smith or Stevenson, with the latter now looking to be much more an expensive tent pole than a marquee signing.

But what do I know ??

Comment 1 :-  very cleverly put.

Comment 2:- After so many years of following our Club, I'd say you know plenty, IMHO.

So, Jack Ross to take the reins at St Mirren.  Discuss.

Alloa will regress. St.Mirren will progress.

Morton to continue with their poor record against Saints.Sons to finish eighth (slightly off-topic but wishful thinking).

Good luck to him, in what could be a difficult managerial position. I doubt though, that he'll make such a ham fist of it as his two predecessors.

Does anybody know what Boydy is doing these days? I saw a guy I thought could have been him, with a team of workies in Helensburgh recently.

Apparently he manages a Junior team, but I'm unsure which one. One of my Morton-following work colleagues told me this.

i have no idea what he does for full time employment. Perhaps he's moved on from my earlier comment and maybe now he resets stolen cars nowadays........

ETA-his Wiki page gives no clues as to what he does.

Can't believe you haven't gone in for Gordon. Well maybe you have and he's picked Alloa over the championship. If that's the case, then that makes it all the better!

What we've taken from you in the likes of Kirkpatrick, Waters, Graham etc have all exceeded expectations so anymore like that kicking about we'll take them emoji6.png!

We have this internationally renowned goalkeeper called Mark Brown, who I am sure would do a great job for you.

On second thoughts, I actually like Alloa and wouldn't sully their good reputation by offering that wage thief to them.

Last night got me thinking about how long our poor away form really stretches for. Turns out it's a wee while.

To give some perspective the team from the Alloa game in 2014 was this:

    Danny Rogers

David Van Zanten Andy Graham Scott Taggart Kieran MacDonald

Mark Gilhaney Chris Turner Scott Agnew Mitch Megginson

    Garry Fleming Chris Kane

Subs included Colin Nish, Lee Mair and Mark 'Ching' Mclaughlin. Just Garry and Jaz are still here from the squad that turned up that day.

And with dross like that in the team, nae wonder we're never in the top 4...............

Not sure what to make of that article. No signings today makes me hopeful of something tomorrow but then it says attention is on Stranraer.

I suspect he's tried but failed to get one or two in.

Anyone we get on the last day of the window might be desperation or genius. My money would be on the former.

but y did you pick Chattanooga?

Because I just decided to choo choo choose that town 8).

It was the first town in Tnn that I noticed, and then noticed another eight miles away, then did the maths

ETA. I could also have used Murfreesboro to Walterhill as my reference points. 8.1 miles apart

away to falkirk... any of you lot able to go? and how far away is it?

It's five times the distance from East Ridge to Chatanooga.

    (41 miles)

ETA I can't go today as Thirdrock Jnr and I will be partaking in much alcohol and going to see Biffy Clyro in Glasgow.
