  1. What's that, three wins in nine? I can see why they thought at the beginning, with a fair wind, we'd make the play-offs but we're going to be miles off by the season's close. Though in truth, even if we had made the play-offs, never mind League 1, is there any team in Scotland we could beat over two legs?
  2. If you expect Rennie to turn this around quickly that's tantamount to saying 'OK, Sheerin was pish but all the players lacked was appropriate guidance'. Does anybody really think that? On the pish-o-meter, several of the players were right up there with Sheerin. Trying to weed out the dross and replace with better in the middle of a League 1 season is no simple task. I think, by and large, he's done well while attempting to play a brand of football that appeals. I don't like the slow starts - though as has been said, slow start or not, they could have been two up in the first 15 at Alloa - but what is of more importance to me is that they come out in the second half better schooled and put on a display to counter what went on in the first. Unlike what we had before - like, for years now - where a slow start usually amounted to 90 minutes.
  3. Saying this for the first time. We need a boycott. We need a representative body for change, whether it's acknowledged by these halfwits or not. What we're seeing here, beyond Falkirk, is how Boris Johnson will be the English Prime Minister for years to come. There's nobody would now dare to protest on the streets [unless it's about wearing fucking masks] and similarly nobody would dare protest outside the stadium, like we did in the Brockville days. Relentless mediocrity has made us apathetic. 'What's the point ? Nothing, will change' Our society is consumed by that approach and it's been contrived, developed and imposed for decades now. Be it via Murdoch, the State Broadcaster or, simply, bullying. If these guys were 'Falkirk people' they'd be weeping with shame for what they've done to this club.
  4. Despite the ignomy of losing to a team with Doyle in it, I didn't think we played that badly. As others have said, on another day...... Certainly on the evidence on yesterday, I'd rather be going through the season with our lot than their lot - with the exception of Murray, of course. Thought Queens victory was a bit like one of ours last season. No finesse, little skill - time wasting [f**k sake, the keeper was at it ten minutes in, at 0-0!] and hoofball - gameplay to make the eyes bleed. Yet because of one guy up front, they remained dangerous. And that's the biggest issue; guys like Megginson, Goodwillie, Murray potentially make those teams more dangerous in front of goal in five minutes, than we might be in ninety. I think Sheerin made mistakes yesterday. Without McGuffie on one side all the emphasis was placed on Morrison, on the other. Hetherington did little to warrant his return to the starting eleven and if you're taking off Keena, you're going to have to replace him with better than the either of the two current alternatives. Finally, him saying we're short up top and there's no urgency to address it, is a staggering contradiction. At the end of the day we wait to see if that was a blip - the football's miles better still but it's results blah, blah, blah..... I don't get this 'losing to Queens Park is a disgrace' thing. We're in the same league. The mantra about having a big budget is always rolled out regarding Falkirk but Queens have to but working with much more robust finances than we are. I darsay Sunderland fans say 'losing to Burton Albion is a disgrace'. But they're where they are, as are we - and the people least to blame for our respective predicaments are the opposition.
  5. I was both shocked and appalled by the sight of that flag on Saturday. Like it or not, it's been hijacked by the far right and clearly is used to demonstrate an allegiance that has nothing to do with Falkirk or indeed any other club in Scotland - bar one. Christ, I remember it in the sixties at Brockville. It may have been acceptable then (God knows why) but in the current climate, it is abhorrent and represents everything that we as a progressive, open-minded country (and I hope, club) should avoid at all costs.
  6. I don't quite get this. Do you have symptoms or not? One thing I will say. This game against the unwashed is more trouble than it's worth, in the current circumstances. Our one objective is clear and games like this get it the way. Peterhead way more important than this....
  7. The board is our equivalent to Tory voters in Bolsover.
  8. I believe it's because the crosses were made so much quicker. I thought he was a new player tonight.
  9. Long, long season ahead. Clueless. To make matters worse, actually regressed in the second half. Two full backs who couldn't find a cross in the Vatican.
  10. I wouldnt hate the idea tbh. Assuming he comes fairly cheap. I think he has potential Can't be Jarvis. He scored.
  11. Jesus, the way things are right now, we should we grateful he cares. Why shouldn't he be delighted with his first professional goal? It's not like he describes it as the be all and end all. "I scored but we lost. Who fucking cares, I got the goal?" is NOT what he tweeted.
  12. I fear "Falkirk nil" is going to be a recuring phrase this season....
  13. Right my take on the game on Saturday? Iffy for much of the time, ostensibly, but dare I say it I saw seeds of something beyond. The criticism of Sammut beggars belief. It's ages since I saw a Falkirk player spread the ball the way he did, finding men at distance with ease. In such a way, if we'd won it would have been a general topic of conversation. The guy's a class act - or will be. I actually thought we were a group of interesting players waiting to be a team. Mackin will be a great player for us, make no mistake - better than anything we've had in a while. It's ridiculous to appraise the value of players without considering the effort of those around them. So let's just give it a bit of time. Although a lot of what I saw on Saturday was sloppy when they did good things, it was classy good - and in two months time we'll appreciate that..... maybe.,...!
  14. Is it a coincidence that we ALWAYS sell the best players after the season ticket sale? Course not. The Vaulks 'punt' would have been plotted from the moment we offered Rankin 'training facilities'. Of the signings made, however, Craigen's nowhere near an Alston and Rankin's nowhere near a Vaulks. Given the goals both scored last season, that already is a huge minus. (As two blanks out of three would suggest) On the plus side, Gasparotto looked more than decent today and actually looks like he's improving game by game.
  15. What's three penalties in the first half? 250-1? Either Madden's just made his cash for a hair transplant - or he's a total knob. Or both.
  16. In the past week, we saw v. Elgin with him and v. Stirling without him. Can only hope the board haven't yet again underestimated the loss. I'm sure this news has delighted the fans of all the other champoinship clubs - as it should. Anyway, a terrific servant - some wonderful memories - and whatever the merits of John Rankin, he's nowhere near an adequate replacement.
