  1. Would the only way for the board to show they 'give a flying fuck' be to sack Grant Murray? The board have taken steps to bring in an experienced coach to aid GM, rather than just sack him, which, in your opinion, is the sole reason for the three in a row', so to suggest they 'don't give a flying fuck' is wide of the mark, IMO.
  2. Think the extention to McGurn's contract could be a shout. In any case, is it not unlikely the club would announce a signing (loan or otherwise) outside the transfer window? Unless loans are different of course, in which case, carry on..
  3. Clearly it's time we dispensed with the PA management and got ruthless..
  4. Not to have a go, but this weekend last year, Morton were five points adrift at the bottom of the league having amassed a whopping 9 points and only had two wins to their name. We're shite, but we're not last-season's-Morton shite.
  5. Indeed, Livi probably would have scored even more with that bombscare in defence.
  6. He'd come back with the same puddings he always buys, despite them being shite, because of his inability to pick something different. Nevertheless, he'd take positives from the same old crap he is served up week in, week out.
  7. Surely today's result spells the end of Grant Murray's reign as Raith Rovers manager? 80-odd minutes with 10 men or not, the group of players we have should be performing better than losing 5 goals at home to a side bottom of the league, without an away win in the league all season. I could almost understand the goals against today if we had left 3 at the back, but to take off an attacking option to, presumably, shore up the defence and still lose five goals is an absolute joke. In my last post on the mater, I suggested it might be time for a change of management, after today I feel it definitely is. It's game over for Murray for me.
  8. 27/11/94, what a brilliant day. The fact that 20 years on we are still enthusing over the cup win, still sharing our memories, still getting dewy eyed over it and remembering it vividly as if it were yesterday is what supporting a diddy team is all about - the highs are few and far between but by fuck are they worth it when they do arrive.
  9. In theory I like the way the Rovers went about appointing a manager after McGlynn. I'd much rather promote from within and appoint an up-and-coming manager, hungry to make a name for themselves than one of the usual suspects on the managerial merry-go-round, and I have probably been one of the last to show support to the Grant Murray regime (a 'happy clapper', if you will). However, with no upturn in the quality of football on show and results-wise we are treading water at best, maybe it is time for a change. If it was to come to it, I'd be happy with Danny Lennon or Terry Butcher, I have an inexplicable hatred of Derek Adams but could make my peace with his appointment were it to happen. Anyone who can take the current crop of players and make them more competitive on the pitch will do me fine.
  10. Performances haven't been great at times, granted. The Dunfermline game aside, the results have been pretty much as good as could be expected and see us sitting pretty in the league, wouldn't you agree? It just seems to me, any time the current season is mentioned favourably, the argument is, "Aye, but two league wins since Christmas". Last season has to stop being a factor at some point, surely?
  11. There has to come a point, surely, where we stop using the "two league wins since Christmas" stick to beat Grant Murray with. I'm not saying we disregard it completely, and I'm certainly not a fan of GM's managerial reign thus far, but it seems the bottom line of any argument is the run at the end of last season. The majority of fans, on seeing the opening fixtures, suggested 3 wins from the opening 5 league games was certainly achievable; Alloa, Dumbarton and Cowden being the teams we should fare well against, anything from Hearts and Rangers being considered a bonus but in no way expected. Performances have not been great, but the achievable results came to light. At that point, the argument was, wins against the part-time teams wouldn't shape our season any more than defeats against Hearts, Rangers and possibly Hibs would; it was how we fared against Livi, QOS and Falkirk that would be the measure of any progress being made. We've kicked that off with an away win and clean sheet at Livingston, we sit third (early days, I know) behind the "big two" and there's already a wee gap appearing between the play off positions and the rest of the league. (again, I know it's early days). From a results point of view, the season has been, as far as I'm concerned, acceptable enough. I doubt there are many who wouldn't have been happy had they been given third place with four wins after six games at the start of the season, yet I keep seeing last season's horrendous run referenced. At what point do we draw a line under it and start afresh? I'll point out that I am in no way a fan of Grant Murray's reign as Raith Rovers manager, and like most think he is very lucky to still be in a job after last season, but while the team are competing well in the league then I have no issue with him being in charge. We'll see what happens once the clocks go back..
  12. To take the positives from tonights game, I though Laidlaw was fantastic.. Sorry, that should have said 'positive'. Not much else to get excited about.
  13. Trying to think of a witty reply to this, but I'm strugglin'
  14. While his reasons are entirely plausible, and most likely why he's resigned, the sceptic in me thinks there's more to it. It's important for Grant to get an experienced number two in to aid his development as a manager. Maybe getting a new assistant in, with a different outlook on the game and new ideas could be the making of him as a manager. I won't hold my breath, though..
  15. The seethe on here aimed at our board if/when that happens will be amusing.
  16. Was it not common knowledge that McGlynn's eventual successor was going to be Murray? I thought that was more or less confirmed when it came to light that he and Laurie were doing their coaching badges.
