  1. There is an unhealthy obsession with the Old Firm that is harming junior football. What we have witnessed last weekend are certain players who would prefer to watch an Old Firm game rather than turn up and do their job for the club that pays them. I would suspect that almost every West region team would have been impacted last Saturday by mystery call offs and players turning up who would rather not be there. This type of behaviour is unacceptable and those individuals are letting their clubs down badly.
  2. Yeh, well that's what a forum is for. I don't make many predictions, but Benburb have impressed me this season so I'm confident enough to make that one. Benburb have Wullie McLaren - therefore they will win the league.
  3. Always look forward to every game Forth play ! Given where they were last season Gow have made a tremendous job of rebuilding their squad and will be odds on favourites to win the game. Having said that every team should be competitive at home so looking forward to a tight match.
  4. Gow to win - all other games could go either way...
  5. There is precedent for reserve teams in lower leagues - Stranraer and Annan reserves play in the South of Scotland league. I suspect however this is a historical geographical quirk.
  6. Forth defending was not good and they were poor for first 25 mins. Lanark were clinical and deserved 2-0 lead.Kerr and Watt are the best strike force in the league. For the rest of the game Forth were the better team and created some clear cut chances but the third goal against the run of play right on half time gave them too big a mountain to climb. Justice done with the pen as it was never a foul. Lanark, Gow and Ashfield looking good for promotion.
  7. They did ok against Forth last week. Left winger (McClymont ?) excellent. Strangely for a young team they ran out of steam in 2nd half losing a 2-0 lead to get beat 3-2
  8. Carluke v Forth - not sure on the pies though
  9. What’s the planned timeline for lifting the licensing embargo ? How many clubs are “licence ready” now and being denied benefits of being licenced due to the embargo ? It has to be lifted immediately. It’s like making your own citizens apply for a visa and then taking away the ability to apply. It’s bonkers - pyramid will only work properly once full unrestricted licensing in place.
  10. Got to be Willie McLaren formerly with Forth Wanderers now with Benburb
  11. The most unusual thing about this game is that Gary McMullen scored a goal !
  12. Who was the Lanark no 2 ? He was excellent.
  13. Ludicrous statement. People don't choose to follow a team just because they stay nearby. They choose it because they have a choice. Quite a few Talbot supporters stay in cumnock so that mocks your statement my friend People have freedom of choice to support who they like but for me scottish football would be much stronger in the longer term if people generally supported their local community team. The droves of people who travel from all over the country to watch the old firm weakens local teams and local communities.
  14. Think it’s a straight 3 up 3 down but not 100% sure. Plenty of Clydedale derbies next season. Must be a while since Lanark, Forth, Carluke and the Gow have been in the same league.
