  1. This discussion bares out what I have said before that this is a farce of a league, These so called B teams just field whatever suits them on the day or cancel a game when it doesn't suit them as I understand Celtic did with the game played on Saturday,

What I cant understand is Clubs voting for their inclusion, until this is changed it will always be an unfair league.

The final piece in the BU jigsaw is an "oven ready" 20+ goals a season striker.  They are very hard to find though as most clubs are only too aware.

Looks like there could be a fire sale at the other Rangers for one of those but don't think we should bother.

Looks like the derby game is back next season:

Good, much better than travelling to the likes of Dalbeattie. Bringing a bit of spice into this farce of a league and rekindle a bit more interest among the disappearing support. Bring it on.

How do you think Dalbeattie Star drew 2-2 with Celtic B last week? That was a league rather than a cup game that could potentially have determined who got relegated this season.

Good point Lurker.  That's why this League is a complete farce and the sooner those clubs are removed the fairer it will become.

I agree ,they are two separate issues, new manager and talking about a merger.
It was brought into the conversation as a possible way forward as there really is a malaise at the BUs at the moment.

The point I was trying make is that I much prefer to discuss a new manager than something that is unlikely to ever happen.

  6. In an effort to put this situation into perspective. Bo'ness United are now looking for a new manager.

All this talk of mergers etc. has nothing to do with the situation.

Because a few individuals come along and decide to start a football team and because of the situation with Newtown Park Ass. are allowed to play on  Newtown Park and enjoy a bit of success in the lower reaches of the game has nothing whatsoever to do with BUs looking for a manager.

Over the years players, managers and committees have come and gone. Glory days and not so glory days have come and gone therefore there is nothing new about looking for another manager. These are all things that this other team have yet to experience. Only time will tell if they survive all those ups and down

If this sounds old fashioned and not moving with times then I am guilty on both accounts.

When Max came in he was able to transform the existing squad going undefeated the rest of that season. Since then though the win rate has reduced and although sacking the manager and getting rid of all the players is not a practical solution there clearly needs to be some sort of change to improve the situation on the park.

Yes he managed to get a tune out of the old squad but majority of replacements have been pretty poor. Some players signed looked good but for some reason he got rid of them, Carstairs and Watt for example and the continual changes from game to game is hard to understand. Time for a freshening up in management. The players are not all bad, just need better guidance.

Another disappointing day at Newtown Park. It can't continue like this. Is that now 4 points from a possible eighteen with only one goal scored?

Those figures alone have the sack written all over it. If this was his first season perhaps a bit more time would be given but he has had three.

Far better managers than him have been sacked for much less.

    Bo'ness United deserve much better.

What’s more embarrassing is that BU are sticking with a manager that’s going to ruin the club .

4 league games in a row , no goals .

    That doesn’t happen often .

Think you would have to go back some time since that happened, if ever. Something appears to be seriously wrong at Newtown and to keep blaming referees becomes a bit tedious.

If you want me to give a serious opinion then I would say that Max was exactly what the club needed when he arrived after the thrashing we received at Tranent.    Alas he has made a number of mistakes in recruitment, player retention, team selection, coaching, discipline and man management in the last few years and this season too many results and performances haven't been good enough with the consequence that our attendances have plummeted.

The committee appear to be standing behind Max ..............but for how much longer nobody knows.

That is much better and not petty bickering as you call it.

I look forward to watching and supporting the BU's in every game they play.    Sometimes they get a result and sometimes they don't. Everyone sees a game differently.  Everyone rates individual players differently.  Everyone knows better than the manager.

    That is Fitbaw.

So can everyone calm down, stop the petty bickering and we can hopefully enjoy some peace on here  for a bit.

You want to enjoy peace. Well I think this  Forum has went up a few notches today with some serious opinions being expressed, whether you agree with them or not is your concern. Surely this is what a football Forum is all about. I much prefer this to so called banter about pies etc.

I accept that forums are all about opinions, but I find that Number Seven posts have become tiresome with his constant sarcastic comments and criticism of players and management alike. They’re not up to Lowland league standard, the management needs replaced, the signings are poor, now Michael Gemmell seems to be the latest in his line of fire.

The club is running on a tight budget, it needs positive support, instead of the constant backbiting from a minority of “supporters”.

As you  say football is about opinions.

I would like to point out that Bo'ness United has been running on a tight budget for many years therefore there is no change there.

If you are judging the opinions of as you say the minority of "supporters" by the dozen Bo'ness minded fans who comment on here that is a false figure.

The attendances have fallen drastically in the last few seasons therefore to me that tells its own story. You may then say  they are not true supporters, but I can assure you some have supported  the club for 50 or 60 years and still support it in many other ways and if asked who their club was it would be BO'NESS UNITED not some other former junior team.

  13. I  would like to give a shout for Charlie Patrick for his recognition  for 60yrs service to the BU''S by the SFA. A man of few words Charlie has been kitman etc. in all these years and can be seen wherever the boys are playing. He has experienced the very highs and the very lows of the club but could always be relied upon to always be there no matter what.

    Well done Charlie.

  14. Have just read of presentation made to the club in memory of Chairman Iain Muirhead by Beith Juniors last Saturday. Class is a word loosely used at times but for me in this instance it is a case of True Class. Well done Beith Juniors a credit to your town.

I don't know what's happened between Michael and the manager but Max has been with the BUs for two and a half years and Michael has played in the vast majority of the games where he has been available. The 19/20 season he missed a spell but I can't remember if he had an injury or what.  Last season Michael played in all 13 games. Whatever's going on it's sad to lose such a great player for the club.

Time for everyone to settle down. No player or manager is bigger than the club. This situation along with many others has happened countless times over the years and is soon forgotten, lets move on and get behind the club.
