4-4-2 would mean dropping either Todorov, Wighton or O’Hara. It would’ve been nice to see a 4-3-3 formation but there’s not enough tenacity or bite in midfield and too much of an imbalance in the squad which would mean we’d have 3 wingers sitting on their jacksi. 4-1-3-2 seems to be the only decent formation I can make from the pool of players we’ve got.

Your first paragraph is bang on the money. The CM dropping to get the ball and just bouncing it back into a tight space meaning the WB has no choice but to lump it or go backwards. CM’s should be receiving the ball on the half turn and looking to open it out, instead they’re standing faciNg our gas square on with no where to go. They just hid after this happened a few times. It honestly looked like any time we had the ball there was only ever one player looking to receive a pass. For that formation to work we need a box to box midfielder and a ball winner, someone willing to break up the play and do the dirty work. Cole and Dorrans are neither. Teams also screaming out for a leader on the park. Dom Thomas isn’t the answer, he needs kept out wide as well. Loses the ball centrally too much causing major problems. The thing is he’s signed that many attacking players he’s trying to shoe horn them into the team.

Firstly I’d like to thank Peter Grant and his merry men for serving up a big, steamy pile of dugshite on Saturday. The spine of the team needs addressed promptly. The keeper needs to go. Nowhere near good enough for this level. Nice of PG to give it the ‘quality over quantity’ then give Mehmet a 2 year deal, what a complete head scratcher. Ross Graham is utter cat meat, the laddies shopping goals left right and centre yet we continue to see him on the park every week. Got a Lithuanian International on the bench and he’s brought Breen in. Why not give one of them a shot? If it’s cos they can’t play LCB then change the formation ffs. The team is massively unbalanced and the formation does not suit us. Cole and Dorrans in the middle together doesn’t work. Both passengers who gave the ball away for too much. Can’t even recall either of them putting a tackle in during the full 90 minutes. Not one of them up supporting, either. We are actually desperate for Iain Wilson to return otherwise the games going to just bypass our midfield every game. When we are in possession, there’s no where near enough options and movement from our players, along with fucking numerous passes straight to the opposition! We are so slow to get the ball moving, it’s just really, really shite. I don’t even think the players knew what the game plan was. PG talking about winning the league and playing the right way? Holy fucking hell. Under 19’s play better football.
