  1. Guessed it had something to do with the Redcoats. Outside of Norn Iron only Ludge/Britain First/BNP types would buy into that forced poppyism in the workplace.
  2. Never knew that.Every remembrance Sunday service i've ever seen the sky fairy people seem to run the show. The local flute band did play "Nearer my God to thee" which i believe is a big sky fairy tune. Wouldn't mind going along to a humanist rememberance Sunday service. Where in Scotland does such an event take place?
  3. If it wasn't for the people of Stirling the Fifers would be in George Square.
  4. So it that it for another year? My local Remembrance Day. The 3 local councillors, a rep from the British Legion, the Ludge, a wummin from the housing??? nae BB or brownies etc, if you depopulate the place what do you effin expect. A Church of Scotland minister from somewhere else. The Kafflicks and some crazy born again mob, an African mob above a shop and a mosque are the only local religious gigs in the area. There's religion but a bit different from 1914. Only the RCs as such are the only religious ones left from the old days and i suppose the Ludge. To be fair, take away the Ludge there would be 5 people there. A hundred years later it's hardly a surprise. Kinda sad. As such there isn't even that many local people left. And there ain't any 90+ year men in the local boozer. "At the going down of the sun we will remember them", well the Ludge does and the local chapel. As for the rest.......
  5. I'm at the eating the wallpaper stage. Anyway off now to find a Junior game. See ya later alligator.
  6. Btw, Lena Martell on YouTube looks like a young Subo.
  7. Going through the Lena Martell stage at the moment.
  8. Anybody who smokes less than 40 a day is playing at it.
  9. Do you still get the notion for a ciggie?
  10. Belfast next week should be fun.
  11. Remember a couple of women going round the doors. Think they were local Church of Scotland members, totally harmless. Remember the auld fella kidding them on "so where abouts were you two on D-Day?". In the 1960/70s your average 40/50 year old man had been in a war.
  12. The Beach End at Aberdeen pre seating (wooden benches) circa 1973 was class. Surprised how little that gets mentioned.
  13. Celtic played at Hampden on a Saturday night about 40 odd years ago when the old main stand at Celtic Park was getting a new roof.
  14. Would it be possible to drive wearing those goggles?
  15. Why?, does your team not have floodlights?
  16. Is Annabel Goldie too old for Ruth Davidson?
  17. A 100 years on the volunteering part seems odd. And the strange part about singing and dancing in the streets when war was declared. Can only think the public had been wound up for years regarding hating Germany. Probably have saved millions long term had they fought with Germany.
