  1. Your argument is terrible. Because Scottish clubs have a good record against Portuguese clubs there isn’t a difference lol it’s to small a sample of one of games and if you could give me 4 or 5 examples where Scottish teams have triumphed over Portuguese opposition out with old firm since say 2010 that would be great . If we look at Vitória Guimarães squad who finished 4th against my team st Johnstone who finished 4 last season. Guillermo Celis a Colombian international going to World Cup - Paula hutardo a Peruvian international important player for them going to World Cup Xande Silva capped at all levels for Portugal big things expected Víctor Garcia Venezuelan international , Junior Tallo plays for Ivory Coast only 23 African cup of nations winner Ghislain Konan only 1 full cap for Ivory Coast but only 20 just made full debut. Sporting Braga finished 5th hearts finished 5th last season- marking bagkic Montenegro international Kouka Egyptian international going to World Cup , Danilo Barbosa 21 capped for Brazil at all age levels robert muric rated croatian Ricardo Horta played for Portugal at every level including full international Ricardo Ferreira capped at all levels by Portugal, Marafona 1 cap for Portugal Nikolai vucivic 26 caps for Montenegro. Excluding sporting Benfica and Porto the rest of the Portuguese league has many more international players going to the World Cup than that of all the Scottish league including Celtic , more international players in general , more players who will develop and go on to play on top leagues across the world, a much better international team. I agree with the last bit of your post even if Gauld was commanding a place in the aves team regularly he would still find it hard to break through there so think his days there are numbered. Can see a permanent move at end of season to another Portuguese club like setabul for instance.
  2. Is that really good enough though? Aberdeen have had the most success in Europe out with Celtic but always get knocked out in qualifying for europa league ....... so back to point the Portuguese league is much better than the Scottish league presently. Portugal currently placed 7th in co-efficient Scotland 23rd behind Israel belarus sweden and Romania . Take celtics results out we would drop to low 30s alongside Liechtenstein and Iceland. In saying that I do see some positives I think there is a lot good players starting to come through like mccrorie, Cochrane, Mcdonald, Tierney, ralston, Wright, Morgan etc and they seem to have good technical ability. Hopefully the league will improve year on year and we won’t be celebrating getting knocked out of the europa league third qualifying round.
  3. Scottish teams in the 90s and even the early 2000s were competitive but there has been a drop in standard. You only have to analyse the Scottish teams performances in Europe the last 5 years they are awful (I include Celtic in this) 2017 / 2018 - rangers lose to a team from luxenburg Aberdeen lose to a team from Bosnia stjonstone lose to a team from Lithuania Celtic win 1 game in champions league against a terrible anderlecht side. 2016/2017 - hibs lose to team from Denmark hearts lose to a team from malta Aberdeen lose to team from Slovenia Celtic win 0 games in champions league - 2015 / 2016 - Inverness lose to a team from Romania Aberdeen lose to a team from khazakstan stjonstone lose to a team from Armenia Celtic don’t qualify lose to team from Sweden. Portuguese league is miles better but Scottish fans seem to think we still dine at the top table of European football whereas in reality we are now behind leagues like Poland Slovakia slovenia Sweden Switzerland and Portugal etc.
  4. Think the point is Scottish teams in Europe have been awful the last 7 or 8 years not just one result. Even with celtics results we are below Azerbaijan Romania and Israel in eufa co-efficient. Taking out celtics results we would be behind Iceland and Moldova - so yes playing well for aves is playing at a higher standard than st Johnstone v aberdeen .
  5. Yeah I would start Snodgrass very creative and a real danger at set pieces. my only issue with him as I think he has looked out of shape the last few Scotland games and that was when he was playing regularly for hull!!! Prob would start with him and look for a good 65 to 70 mins from him
  6. Jordan archer promoted to championship today with millwall had a very good season
  7. Lol that explains it then because scotsport sounds more Scottish than the English sounding sportscene he stopped watching...... wasn't Scottish enough [emoji23]
  8. I'm saying that if we beat england June 10th first team to beat england since 2009 would be a good achievement [emoji3]
  9. From your previous posts you can tell your footballing knowledge is really really really poor and that you rarely watch any football. You have never seen Gauld play ? Did you never watch scotsport when he played for Dundee United ? Did u refuse to watch it because graham speirs was on and you thought he didn't sound Scottish enough?[emoji23] also saying we shouldn't select English born players partly because England are found wanting in international football- that's a matter of perspective they are miles ahead of Scotland unfortunately ranked 14 in world and haven't lost a World Cup qualifier since 2000. They have lost 6 qualification games this century and haven't lost a qualifier euro or world since 2009 (euros to Ukraine think) guys like James morrison born in england but have been really committed to the cause the last 10 years see no reason why they shouldn't play for Scotland.
  10. Guys like Werner poulson kieta really improved under Leipzig let's hope Burke can do the same
  11. Only just turned 20 so could go either way to be honest but he has got loads of potential. He's looked poor in his Scotland games so far but he's got loads of potential but needs to continue to improve year on year. He's in the correct place I would say the Leipzig youth set up is miles ahead of anything in Scottish Premiership or English championship.
  12. Celtic would have to break there wage structure and beat there transfer record to be able to afford Phillips!!!
  13. I agree but got to be realistic about his performance today which wasn't great. First half was very scrappy though no player really stamped there authority the first half. I'm not overly concerned about a quiet game as long as Leipzig continue to improve him as a player.
  14. Think could work as a striker with his speed and strength plus the defensive side of his game is poor remember him getting skinned in the left of midfield against Lithuania so maybe overall better suited up front.
  15. Watched the first half and he was playing more up front. Game was mainly being played in midfield lots of possession being given away from both teams. It would be great if Leipzig develop him into a central striker but hasn't had much of an impact this game.
