  1. This is quite an awkward situation for everyone and I don’t see an easy solution for Eufa or the SFA. I

I’ve been in travel club for 20 years was unsuccessful in the ballot.  Part of the reason myself and my friends are in the club is the dream if we got to a tournament we would have a great chance of getting tickets.

When the dust settles and the euros are over the majority of the fans who got tickets via the ballot aren’t going to be turning up for a World Cup qualifier against Macedonia on a Tuesday night in October or a friendly defeat  against Costa Rica on a Friday night in March.

Attendances at Hampden have already  been pretty shocking the past few years  and the travel club members help to boost this this season ticket sales etc.  I think a zero ticket allocation will leave a lot of members thinking what’s the actual point of the club and not renewing and if needed getting tickets via public sales etc.

One solution may be to allocate the 7000- 8000 tickets that members would have got combine these with those successful in the ballot then draw the 10000 or so from that.

Theres also the fact that 10000 inside Hampden is going to be a really poor atmosphere anyway makes me think would it be better watching this in the pub or in a house with mates.

  2. I didn't know what was going on with him in his final year at Celtic but I got the impression the Celtic medical team were incompetent as can be with him and probably prolonged his injury rather than sorting it.

The si ferry interview with tierney is interesting on this point it seemed like he was playing through a bad injury for long period without getting the proper treatment. He basically said that only now he is returning to full fitness.
  3. Absolutely not. McBurnie is doing well in the top end of the English Premier League and Dykes has just secured a 2mil move down to England. TBF I don't know what Oli Burke has done to deserve a call up: the boy is absolute mince. I also have no idea why Lawrence Shankland was picked, who hasn't kicked a ball at all this season. I guess it shows though how little options we have, but I believe we've called up worse. I can't think of any other candidates tbh. Kevin Nisbet maybe but he is injured. Ross Stewart has started well at Ross County this season, so could argue the case for him.
I can remember a time we were playing guys like Nigel Quashie, Scott Dobie and Kevin Kyle up front. That was brutal.

Burke scored an 89 min winner from the bench against cyprus. A great header hit the post then scored the rebound. But all accounts his game has improved the last year so deserved place in squad a good impact player to come of the bench as he’s proven.
  4. It would be silly to write off a player on 9 caps, even if it was 9 starts, but I don't think it is unreasonable to have formed a judgement on how he has performed in the minutes he has had in a Scotland shirt thus far, whilst accepting it is entirely possible he will get better.
I'm not sure on what basis you think he suits Scotland's style of play, though. What is our style of play, as you understand it? And how does it complement McBurnie, or vice versa?

His 3 main assets for Sheffield United this season have been heading, work rate and bringing others into play. We play with wide players like Forrest and Fraser who like to get crosses into the box. As we play with one striker he can also bring others into play if he gets support support form the likes of Armstrong Christie and McGinn.

  5. Mcburnie has started only 2 competitive international games for scotland he’s had 2 sub appearances in competitive matches and the other 5 caps were friendlies. It would be silly to judge a player on 2 competitive starts and overall a lot of his appearances have been as a sub. Just turned 24 as well can see him being a big part of Steve Clarke’s plans over the next few years as he suits Scotland’s style of play.

  6. This was a great squad. It’s disgusting how we went from world class to nothing more than piss poor

Was a good squad when we look at the the teams
Was only 11 when we played in this group but remember this game. Looking at Group now we had a bit of luck in the last game Bulgaria drawing with romania and the game before romania beating Switzerland but looking back it was a very good squad.
  7. Meh. Norway have Halaand up top and Odegaard in midfield but the best they've got at the back is Ajer. Any nation of roughly 5 million people will have a variety in quality, I'm not sure Scotland are particularly unique here (without running through every nation of 5 million).

I would love to have ajer at centre back would improve our team.

  8. Add our centre halves to that and it’s closer to 1 million.

Which is totally bizarre when you think about it do we have the biggest variance in the world between quality of midfield and quality of defence. I’m running through teams and can’t think of many.
  9. I think that looks decent tbf. Griffiths is in form for Celtic when he can be arsed playing but I’m not sure how committed he’d be to Scotland given we won’t pay him £15k per week.

He’s mentioned loads of times that he wants to get back into the scotland squad I would argue he is one of our most committed players.
  10. And which current Scotland strikers out there have a significantly better record than that?

I would agree that’s why I would start him with mcburnie and naismith to come on if we are struggling at any point. His biggest asset is probably his link up play and not the goals anyway. The point I was trying to make was that people are quoting mcburnies record for scotland which are mostly sub appearances I think he gets unfair criticism and I think he could be an important player in the future.
  11. That stat about Griffiths isn’t even right. At least be accurate in your nonsensical trolling crap.

The stat is correct he’s played 19 times for scotland has 4 goals 2 were free kicks against england the other 2 were goals against Slovenia away and the other Malta at home thus 2 goals from open play in 19 games. I’m glad griffiths is back he will be a real asset in these games and I have been impressed by his link up play also recently thus the likes of Armstrong Forrest etc will benefit.
  12. Mcburnie over griffiths i can see the logic but when has mcburnie ever proved he can do for scotland what he does for sheffield? Griffiths is on form has scored at int level and deserves to start

2 goals from open play in 19 games is hardly a good record . In saying that I think he should start based on current form with mcburnie to come on if needed.
  13. I seem to be the only person who applied originally was unsuccessful and have had no emails including in junk lol. If Scotland make it hope to get tickets through travel club but only on 10 points so if we only get allocated 3000 tickets looks like I may be watching on tv.
