  1. No because China’s leagues each team has around 2 high paid stars per team but there is no depth. The table below is average wages and it’s hard to argue with the results I would say La Liga the premiership seria a and bundisliga are the 4 best leagues in the world further proving my point.
  2. In terms of wages 1. Premiership 2. Bundesliga 3. Seria a 4 La Liga 5 lique 1 6. Russian premier league 7. Brazilian premier 8. English championship
  3. Lol That’s incorrect whether you look at wages or transfer fees. Check the facts first please
  4. Footballs football of course you can compare the the quality of the leagues. More money = better players = more international players = a more in depth quality league.
  5. Ha ha what parts the waffle it’s factually correct - the championship in England provided a much higher percentage of World Cup players per team and a higher percentage overall capped international players than the Scottish premier. Top championship wage bills dwarf that of even Celtic and rangers which means even they need to rely on selling players, loans and free transfers.
  6. Ok but ur states are incorrect think you have added in his goals for Scunthorpe’s in championship or league one as hopper has nowhere near 60 goals since returning to championship he has less than half that.
  7. In the Scottish premier he was 63 goals in 95 games- I rest my case
  8. Gary hooper is a better example he was like to Ronaldo in Scottish football then has been poor in the championship. In my opinion top end of premier is stronger than championship overall but championship has much more depth mainly because they can afford to pay X 10 the wages of about 3/4 of Scottish premier league. If you look at say Birmingham as a middle of the championship team and the value of their players or signed jota for 6.5 million. Outwith old firm think Paul Bernard for 1 million is the record signing. Although money isn’t everything this has a big impact. Also how many Scottish premier league players were at the World Cup / play international football? Compare that to the championship massive difference
  9. We were unbeaten in 2017 playing 4-2-3-1 draw with England at home and beating Slovenia and Slovakia and an away win in Lithuania and draw in Slovenia.
  10. The technical ability of younger players coming through in my opinion is improving. Look at Tierney Robertson gilmour johnstone Cochrane. Even soutter and McKenna are better on the ball that many of the centre backs we have had over last 10-15 years. Think the futures bright but I’m an optimist.
  11. Wonder after the success of stones and McGuire at the World Cup if it’s worth having another word with Alfie Mawson who’s still eligible. Only 24 and and wasn’t in World Cup squad
  12. Mcburnie our best prospect by a country mile getting rave reviews and can play the lone striker role that we play
  13. Think it’s a big season for quite a few scotland players this year. Interested to see if Callum Patterson and Cairney can improve and have an influence in the EPL this year. Gauld at Lisbon will he actually get a game? Armstrong at Southampton will he handle the step up and will he even get a game? Can McKenna and Hendry push on and become our 1st choice centre backs. Will Hendry get good game time? When will Griffiths get fit and will he get a game with dembele and edouard Will Mcburnie be Swansea’s main striker and get loads of goals this season? Will Ollie Burke get a game and get back on form? Will mctominay get any game time or be farmed out on loan? What sort of influence will Morgan have at Celtic? Who’s going to be the big break through player? Big season for a lot of our players here’s hoping alot of these players push on and really improve
  14. 19 per cent of Scotland don’t live in poverty. The Scottish definition of poverty is having only freeview, 1 TV, 1 car and Samsung J3 as we tend to compare how rich or poor we are with neighbours and those around us not our wealth on a global basis. Looking at a worldwide perspective a very small percentage of the Scottish population live in actual poverty. majority of scotland is actually in the top 10 percent richest people on the planet. Why we have failed last 20 years is a complex question with so many different factors. You could look at the SFA over the last 20 years and some of their poor decision making, the coaching of grass roots players, the weather, our general health as a nation, the quality of our coaches and the reasons many good coaches have left the game, bad luck, the fact other nations have improved and there’s more competition now, less qualifying positions, the facilities we have compared to Scandinavian countries, how we deal with big games mentally are we a nation of bottlers!!!
  15. Rhodes has not been the same arguably since he left Huddersfield or at least blackburn. At Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday hes been pretty terrible. I agree he should have had more caps between 2009 - 2015 as should Boyd but not the same quality as Griffiths and don’t feel Rhodes are Boyd would have transformed our fortunes.
  16. Tierney a fantastic player no doubt about it and the sky’s the limit what he could achieve. but 30 million seems pricey for a player only proven in Scotland. ( didn’t play that well in champions league in my opinion) Celtic as a club are run brilliantly and they are brilliant at inflating transfer fees - seem to remember didier Agathe, price tag being 20 million and sure kayal was tipped for a 12 million move before moving to the championship. Then there’s Gary hopper and iziaguirre and his 15 million move to Arsenal. Dembele 30 million? As per previous post clubs reluctant to spent that sort of money for a player who is playing at a low level like the Scottish league and a risk to judge over 6 champions league games a season.
  17. Man united could buy any of the players above in a second pay them quadruple. The fact that they don’t suggests mctominay is a better player
  18. Yep agreed I do like the fact Mcleish got down there to speak to him in person during the bad weather.
  19. https://www.premierleague.com/news/645490 Article from Allan nyom saying Burke unstoppable in training!!!
  20. Overall if we had an under 24 team much stronger than 5 or 6 years ago - most of them getting 1st team football to. Prob missed a few of the list below but not to bad a team Archer Tierney Mckenna Lindsay Robertson Mcginn McCrorie Burke Fraser Mcgregor Mcburnie Subs Patterson Cummings Kingsley Gauld Ralston Cochrane Morgan Hendry Mallan Docherty
  21. Depends on whether he has the ability to improve or not. Some players look like they are going to be superstars but just stagnate don’t improve and end up being pros but not at the highest level. Then there’s players like Robertson / MacArthur / Snodgrass who improved season on season and worked there way up to play in the premiership.
  22. I think he will make it in premiership eventually but I’m totally confused as to what position his best position is
  23. 27 years isn’t really an accurate record when comparing the standard now though in the 90s early 2000s the Scottish league has more quality and if we look at the standard of players that used to play larrson, gascoigne van bronkhurst petrov etc it’s clear the old firm have went backwards last 6 or 7 years which probably enhances the stats on head to head.
  24. Ps out with old firm only player from Scotland who I can think of that’s going to World Cup would be arnason of Iceland for Aberdeen ( I could be wrong )not a great advertisement for our league.
  25. Your argument is terrible. Because Scottish clubs have a good record against Portuguese clubs there isn’t a difference lol it’s to small a sample of one of games and if you could give me 4 or 5 examples where Scottish teams have triumphed over Portuguese opposition out with old firm since say 2010 that would be great . If we look at Vitória Guimarães squad who finished 4th against my team st Johnstone who finished 4 last season. Guillermo Celis a Colombian international going to World Cup - Paula hutardo a Peruvian international important player for them going to World Cup Xande Silva capped at all levels for Portugal big things expected Víctor Garcia Venezuelan international , Junior Tallo plays for Ivory Coast only 23 African cup of nations winner Ghislain Konan only 1 full cap for Ivory Coast but only 20 just made full debut. Sporting Braga finished 5th hearts finished 5th last season- marking bagkic Montenegro international Kouka Egyptian international going to World Cup , Danilo Barbosa 21 capped for Brazil at all age levels robert muric rated croatian Ricardo Horta played for Portugal at every level including full international Ricardo Ferreira capped at all levels by Portugal, Marafona 1 cap for Portugal Nikolai vucivic 26 caps for Montenegro. Excluding sporting Benfica and Porto the rest of the Portuguese league has many more international players going to the World Cup than that of all the Scottish league including Celtic , more international players in general , more players who will develop and go on to play on top leagues across the world, a much better international team. I agree with the last bit of your post even if Gauld was commanding a place in the aves team regularly he would still find it hard to break through there so think his days there are numbered. Can see a permanent move at end of season to another Portuguese club like setabul for instance.
