  1. It's certainly the place where Queens were crowned today.
  2. I've got a funny feeling this will be the game which is settled by more than a one goal margin - we'll either win by two or lose by three.
  3. Another option for a pre-match pint in Kirkcaldy is the Abbotshall Hotel on Milton Road (ten minute walk at most from Stark's Park). It's re-opening tomorrow under Dennis O'Connell, a massive Rovers fan who has managed various venues in and around the town. It was a cracking place 30 years ago when Dennis had it, but became a bit of a shitehole after he moved on. Food looks reasonably priced as well.
  4. It must be from the SPFL era as we had 7000 plus for the Millennium Derby v the Pars.
  5. Arbroath is top - easy train trip, decent pubs, decent chippies, excellent pies and a proper old school ground. Tannadice next for me - only let down by the admission cost. There's always a decent atmosphere at East End when we play there and it probably has the best view, but not sure what it's like on non-derby days.
  6. Matthews was superb for us in our last Seaside League season and the Lockdown season. He weighed in with several crucial goals and if you look at the win percentages over that time in the games he played, as opposed to the games he missed, the difference is massive. Unfortunately, I don't think he's ever been fully fit for the last couple of seasons, but he's certainly worth a run in the team at present.
  7. Carlisle would be a great day out for the final, but can't see the authorities sanctioning it. All the best to Airdrie in the final. Yes, they wasted time on Friday, just as we did when we were winning at Tannadice, and yes, Colin Steven is a detestable apology for a human being, but the team who out fought and out thought their opponents on Friday are the team who'll deservedly play in the final.
  8. Of the teams in bother at the moment, Queen's Park are the team I reckon are most likely to pull clear. They have some excellent players and are only in trouble due to horrendous game management under the previous regime, be it awful use of subs, defensive shape or trying to play too much football in the wrong areas.
  9. Absolutely. If you're not playing well, at least keep it tight and avoid shipping cheap goals. With the exception of the Morton game, United have done this. We haven't.
  10. And I'd imagine he's a good bet to start for Hibs in their next game, given the way things are going today. Seems like the two Renfrewshire clubs are trying to outdo each other this afternoon.
  11. We need to try to get some solidity in the side. A flat back four (although three are in poor form at the minute and one has just returned from injury), Two from three of Matthews, Brown and Byrne sitting, Stanton and Vaughan playing just behind Hamilton and one of Easton, Smith or Mullin. There's a decent case for including McGill in either of the full back spots on current form.
  12. Apparently the Estuary was attacked by Airdrie fans before the game last night. Windows put in and damage inside. The Rovers boys had left by that time and it was only the dozen regulars and the wee Yorkshire terrier dug that were in. It was all shut up, although the lights were still on inside, when I walked past about 10.15 last night.
  13. Injured. He pulled up a few minutes before he was subbed.
  14. I'd be very surprised if it hasn't / isn't being explored. As said above, it's easy money for the club and the ground really shouldn't lose it's identity. No one ever sings " I'd fly over the KDM tomorrow...".
  15. These figures are excellent. However, without wishing to rain on anyone's parade, the Scottish Cup income in the next quarter's figures will dip somewhat compared with last season.
  16. This is on Murray. No one has a clue as to what they're supposed to be doing. If you're leaking goals constantly, get back to basics - a solid back four with two proper centre backs, two central mids with two wide players and Hamilton and Vaughan up front. Probably too late to change it today, but the defensive record is risible, especially with centre halves on the bench.
  17. The Laidlaw away kit was when we won promotion at Stranraer in May 1987. The Bobby Ford pic would be sometime between 1980 and 1982.
  18. It was definitely February we signed Goncalves last year, although I'm trying to remember whether that was a loan or whether Livi released him and he joined as a free agent.
  19. That was the league cup tie earlier the same season. Airdrie won 3-2 after extra time. We were in the side stand at the Scottish Cup game.
  20. Buy this Saturday's programme and you can read all about it as it landed on the 27th January 1997.
  21. I think we get the most out of Gullan when he comes on as a pair of fresh legs up front. We get less out of him when he's sent on as a buckshee forward during Murrayball.
