United have handled this poorly, as per, but I think there has been police/safety officer advice, which hopefully will be changed in a day or two.

Ogren/Capuano appear to have decided not to open the Jerry Kerr/Fair Play at all this season to save money, which wasn't very forward thinking of them.

I'm optimistic that good sense (and greed) will prevail, and another 600 tickets released for away fans.

Good on you for posting on here, but if there was a police issue then surely Rovers would have been made aware of it and it would have been communicated to our fans that was the reason.

They surely must have demand for those tickets from the home fans?
It’s totally conkers to fling money away like that otherwise.
What bizarre emotions this game has for me, I want the Fife team to hump that lot, but that could be a league decider, and I don’t want to miss out on derby games next season. 😵‍💫

I blame the Pars for this shambles.

If you clowns hadn't pumped them last Friday, they'd have less of a grudge against Fifers and given us the whole stand.

    Hope you're proud of yourselves.

Can anyone mind what Davos’ testimonial score was? Did it finish 1-1?

I don’t think we told Hibs it’s a testimonial, they have went for it. Good finish by Stevenson for their goal.

Hibs won 3-1 in Davo's game. They were 3 up early on then dropped a couple of gears. They were well ahead of us in their pre-season preparation at the time.

That was against St Johnstone, midweek during the season as well wasn’t it? I’m sure Colin Harris was a guest player that night and scored in a 1-0 win?

It was a midweek game v St Johnstone, towards the end of the season, but I'm sure it was a higher scoring game (4-2?) and Daz scored. I'm pretty sure that was the first time I'd ever seen Rovers beat St Johnstone at Stark's Park in any sort of game.

  5. The poor turnout at McGurn's can maybe be attributed to two reasons -

1- He'd actually left the club by the time of his testimonial match,

2- There was no opposition as such, hence no opposition support.

If I recall correctly, there was barely 1500 at Gordon Dalziel's testimonial and that was at the end of a season where we scooshed the league and he was player of the year.

What's is Dougie Andersons successor Laurie Ellis (?) up to nowadays, always thought he put a bit of effort and vitality into the pre-match routines trying to gee players up. Not saying he should be a candidate for a long term appointment mind.

Laurie is currently an academy coach at Rangers. An absolute diamond of a guy.

Think it will be OF pushing this.

While these pitches offer additional use and community use they do effect how the game is played.

So OF wish to remove any perceived advantage to others. Just like Hearts reducing OF away supporters numbers.

Not sure if their training pitches are grass and artificial.

As for recycling, Ralston golf club got the old St Mirren training surface and has used for walkways.

This has escalated since Rodgers used Killie's pitch to deflect from the fact his team has lost twice on it this season. It never merited a mention when he was winning the treble treble a few years ago.

The Premier League was being expanded to 12 teams, and there was supposed to be some form of play-off between Dunfermline, Falkirk (who finished 3rd) and Aberdeen who finished bottom of the Premier League. However, Brockville didn’t meet the stadium requirements so they promoted Dunfermline and Aberdeen avoided relegation.

    Great minds think alike.

There were only two promotion spots that season? Ourselves and St Mirren went up.

The premier league was expanding to twelve. The winners of the first division (St Mirren) went up automatically, with second, third and the bottom premier team involved in some sort of convoluted playoff for the remaining two places

However, because Falkirk finished third without a compliant stadium, Dunfermline were promoted automatically and Aberdeen were spared relegation. If Rovers had finished third, the playoffs would have happened.

  10. Just back from the game.

It was a strange one - the first half was a half of two halves with Rovers dominant for 20 minutes then Queen's thereafter. Despite there being few shots, it was actually quite an enjoyable game with no hoofball and very few fouls.

Obviously we went a bit more direct once Hamilton came on and the game stretched a bit. Great save from Ferrie at the end to deny Stanton.

Overall, if it had been a boxing match, Rovers would have just edged it on points, but we took too long to show any sort of penetration. Defensively, a great shift to keep Thomas and Paton so quiet.

I've a feeling this might turn out to be a better point than it, at first, seems and if we do fall just short of United, I certainly don't think this will be a game we would say the title was lost.

All the talk of how we play Dundee Utd up at Tannadice, this game scares me the most. As Rovers fans we all know the Rovers like to step on their own rakes. Let’s be honest, QP are a quality side and we seriously cannot take them for granted. Dom Thomas will be especially motivated against us, and he has really decent backing with Sheridan and Paton eager to do the business. Hope Tuesdays exertions haven’t got to the team and we remain resolute. I haven’t actually read the thread as of yet, so I don’t know if QP have any injury worries ahead of this match.

    Agree with this.

Queen's have genuine potential match winners in Thomas and Paton. I'm not sure there are many other sides out with the top three you can say that about.

Nearly 2000 fans not from where I was sitting. To be fair most Dunfermline fans are there to support their club and the minority ruin it for everyone. Regarding the vandalism of the stand it probably depends when it was done to who would have witnessed it. If if was done at half time there must have been several fans who witnessed the damage. If it was done at or near the end of the game it was only the NW fans section that were left in the stand. As long as Dunfermline FC come out and criticise the behaviour and pay for the damage then that's fine. Having said all that tonight's result with about a quarter of the season left means that the Pars can't catch us and with East Fife apparently under fan ownership and wanted Championship football in 3-5 years if I was a Pars fan i would be worried about becoming the 3rd best team in Fife.

I honestly didn't think it looked like there was 2000 in the away end on Saturday, but if you take the 4300 Rovers fans away from the total crowd (circa 6300), there must have been.

As far as East Fife wanting Championship football in three years - about ten years ago a Leven businessman claimed he'd make them a top 16 club in the country. In the interim period, they've been relegated twice to the bottom division.

Yes I think George Farm was injured and had to go off.

Was there not a game where Farm got injured and instead of going off, played up front and scored?

It might not have been that game, but I can vaguely remember doing a piece on him for the Rovers programme a couple of seasons back and I'm sure that happened to him in a game.
