  1. We've had three clean sheets in a row, in which Ross Matthews has been a huge part, so why bench him today?🤷.

We've had the better of United before today because we've been strong and robust in midfield, but we were far too lightweight today. Either Matthews or Byrne had to start so we could play Stanton a wee bit further forward.

POTY Ball now, black tie, surely bit elitist for an end of season shindig or maybe the Club are looking for a more up market set of attendees🙄 not for me.

A change from when it was a fiver a ticket for the Abbotshall and you got a chicken leg and a sausage roll when the DJ had his break. The only reason you didn't wear jeans to it back then was if you were going on to Jackie O's afterwards.

    I agree.

The white and navy away top was a classic, as was the green bukta goalie top that Murray McDermott wore.

I remember buying the white kit with birthday money from Brown's Bazaar.

Been watching United for 35yr home and away and never see trouble. You will be fine in any pub around the ground. Clep Bar is a good shout. Avoid the Troll as its tiny inside and can be a nightmare to get served

I've been to Tannadice many times over 35+ years and watched United a fair bit when I lived in Dundee for four years.

I agree with you wholeheartedly - I've never seen any bother near any pubs, even at derbies and games v Aberdeen.

Touch wood, there hasn't been any hint of bother at any of the games so far. We've all said our piece about the United board's decision on tickets, but that's no reason for there to be any bad blood between the fans.

It's not yet four years since Rovers and United fans walked side by side across the Tay Bridge in an attempt to raise funds for the legal fees as Hearts attempted to deny us both promotion.

Hope it's a great game and a great atmosphere.

Were any of the pubs near the ground good for atmosphere before the game at Tannadice in December ?

We were in Frews which was pretty home fans heavy. Where is everyone headed this time ?

I had to drive to the game in December, so didn't bother with the pub before it. The Clep Bar on Clepington Road always used to be a popular haunt for Rovers fans.

It's Police Scotland: somebody in Tulliallan Castle will potentially be commanding each clubs' Safety Officer to restrict access to parts of their grounds, with little attention to common sense.

But I'm guessing it's more about limiting the number of fans travelling around the area, perhaps at key points like Dundee Station. And, of course, although stewards are utilised inside the grounds to lessen police involvement, the police have responsibility to ensure safety outside the stadium.

If it was either Glasgow twin visiting, matches wouldn't be treated with such heavy hands.

I'm pretty sure that if it was the police trying to limit numbers, both Rovers and United would have said so and expressed their disappointment.

The number of fans in the station and city centre is likely to be miniscule in the grand scheme of things.

    Montrose v Falkirk *

I doubt the police have issued the word 'lockdown' to the clubs, but the SFPL fixture list for this Saturday at 3pm* is likely to have availability of the constabulary stretched, mostly in their minds, but perhaps in reality given the decline in behaviour surrounding some matches recently.

Unfortunately, clubs have to listen to them.

edit to add, Montrose/Falkirk  game is 5:30pm, which may create further issues.

The East Coast mainline should be a hoot.

we need to release musunda at the end of the season.

he is worse than part time. either on international duty or injured.

    a waste of valuble wages.

Rewind two seasons and Rovers fans were saying exactly the same thing. Musonda is a very decent defender, but his lack of availability, whether due to injury or internationals, made it difficult to justify a contract extension.

I agree, it is ridiculous, this match could have attracted close to 10,000 spectators if United had opened up the rest of the stadium.

Christ knows what's going on at United these days. But it has been a harsh 18 months for a good loyal support that deserve so much more.

I doubt the allocation of tickets is United trying to wind up RR & their supporters. What purpose would hat serve? Other than to maybe gee-up the appetite of Raith team a bit more.

I think it is probably just another bad decision in a long succession of bad decisions that have plagued our club for the last decade.

Given there was over 10,000 at the December game, I reckon we could have been looking at close to a sell-out for this one.

Crazy that it's going to be awkward for United fans to get tickets as well.

Such a strange stance from United.  There isn't a fundamental advantage to be gained from preventing 600 odd fans from attending.  I'd actually understand it if they gave a tiny allocation, but the difference overall to atmosphere between 1.4k and 2k is fairly minimal.  And I'd have zero problems if they wanted to give tickets to their own fans instead, but that isn't the case.

The only thing I can think of is if the police have insisted on an increased presence there isn't a substantial gap between sets of fans,  and Utd have thought that isn't worth the hassle or cost.  But that's a stretch.

If that's the case, why not just say so.

How much extra can it cost to police 2000 rather than 1300 though?

Or, easier still, stick the Rovers fans in the side stand like they do at Dundee derbies.

Good quality grass pitches should be the absolute minimum for a top flight team. Football on artificial grass is dire. The bounce or the ball is terrible and the home teams get used to the way they play, nothing worse than a dry poor astro pitch.

No need for astro pitches to be poor or dry - they're easy to water.

How many clubs in Scotland currently have a "good quality grass pitch"?

Top flight football shouldn’t be played on artificial pitches. It’s embarrassing. Astro pitches after fine for kids and part time teams, but should be nowhere near a  full time professional team.

    Why?

How are they more embarrassing than tawtie fields like Dens Park this season?

If there's a proven injury risk then fair enough, but in that case they should be banned full stop as a part time player or a kid shouldn't be more exposed to injury than a full time player.
