I don't get the notion that these things add atmosphere. I've been to East End and many other away grounds in the past where Rovers fans have generated a magnificent atmosphere without the need for them. I can't imagine they're completely free of fire risk and I can't imagine anyone with asthma or some other respiratory condition would be happy to be in the vicinity of the smoke. Unfortunately, unless the police and stewards get their collective fingers out and start lifting the perpetrators, someone is going end up getting hit with one and end up taking the law into their own hands. And I can't imagine any such person being short of offers of free pints were that to happen.

Two things wrong here - 1- It doesn't say whether it's their first penalty or last penalty of the match that wins the pot (bear in mind Andrew Dallas gave them four in a game against St Mirren not so long ago) and 2- 95 isn't nearly high enough. If they're struggling and in need of a penalty, it could go to 100 minutes easily.

Turn right off Halbeath road towards the hospital. Left along Robertson Road to Bellyeoman, then walk down through the cemetery. Much easier getting away than parking on the Garvock side.

The powers that be would hold it in Livingston, which would suit them, but make it much less fun for the fans.

It's for Arbroath fans to say whether the time was right for a change, but as an outsider looking in, the late Frank Connor, who I idolised for the job he done at the Rovers, always said his aim in management was to "leave a club in a better position than he found it". In that context, I think it's fair to say Dick was a success at Arbroath.

These are the nights you live for. I honestly thought the Pars would be pumped up tonight after feeling agreived at losing the last derby, and our makeshift defence would be in for a long night, but Murray got his tactics spot on. For years we've sat back at East End and invited Dunfermline onto us, but it was absolutely the correct decision to attack from the start and play the game in their half. No weaknesses in the Rovers side tonight, but I said we'd need composure, commitment and concentration to have any chance and Captain Broon obliged on all three counts.

Hoping for a wee away day to Dunbar in the fourth round.
