  1. Any other team losing ONE game throughout their entire League season would hardly be described as blowing it would they ? They dropped points in the run in when as has been previously suggested ( after they beat Abbey Vale 3-0 )it seemed to allow the Maryfield Park side to play with a more care free manner in that the knew their chance was gone ! Castle Cary is a difficult place to go at the best of times and a well drilled Ferry outfit are hard to beat at home on a tight , bumpy surface however you have to consider the huge bonus of Vales last SEVEN games all being at home , therefore maximising player availability and limited travelling times for their lads whilst the early mid week kick offs etc put pressure on the opposition having their own best teams available for the matches. Personally I felt Vales goal scoring ability was ke5 to getting them over the line as they won all their remaining League games comfortably enough. it’s harsh to knock Creetown for an otherwise excellent season and I for one applaud them on their best campaign for man6 , many a year
  2. The side I believe have W9 D1 L1 in the League ( as good as anyone ) since the turn of the year even without a fair few guaranteed starters this last few weeks and it surely augurs well for next term ! Get these lads fully fit again and the young lads they introduced have a Season under they belt now as well so a bright future for them hopefully. Still Creetown's to lose this year and if they get over that line all the very best to our neighbours in any play off as they’ll fully deserve their chance after an impressive campaign
  3. I believe the question was asked by our Club and no reply was forthcoming from the apparent applicants
  4. A far poorer Saints side than last Seasons Champions with a virtually entirely new Team full stop
  5. Surely it’s Beith who have to have the Licence not the home Club they’d ‘potentially’ share with ?
  6. Don’t be quite to sure Andy ! They’ve only lost 8 goals all Season and remember Linlithgow only beat Saints 3-2 last year and Creetown's defence is way better than theirs was ! They’ll keep it tight and compact and make themselves very hard to break down especially at home I’m sure as we’ve seen all season down here. A huge ask undoubtedly but it’s not beyond the lads to at least surprise a fair few who regularly knock the South ! Good luck to them in the play off if they indeed win the South for the first time
  7. Intending to head along to the Alba Cup Final myself hopefully
  8. Threaves decision would probably be it would appear to others in the South simply to integrate into the West before any potential amalgamation in the future ! They’ll invest season on season and hope to gradually climb through the West Tiers until they find their level imo. As for Glasgow Wellington you have to imagine bypassing Tiers 10-7 would have to be the obvious thought process from them and how accommodating the South will be to that situation may well depend on Dalbeattie’s possible demotion back to our League ! it’s actually good to see a competitive League for once in our region and may the best team win
  9. That’s correct at the moment although as you’ll have seen Mids have installed a new seated area which may signify their intentions ! Likewise Creetown had indicated their ambitions to go down that route too , time will tell for both and good luck to them
  10. And you reckon the East was prior to the Junior invasion when it was struggling with 13 Teams ???
  11. Personally I’d say your proposed option is one , should it ever be on the table that the South should realistically consider as that way the East and West Champions would get their spot and the winner here would still at least have the opportunity of promotion however slim that may seem to some ! You’re also correct in that the SPFL and LL are the real problem for ambitious former Junior sides as they are the ones stifling the chance of these sides moving up the Pyramid and not whether they can beat the South winners in the playoffs. If and hopefully when they alter the promotion slots I can assure you that those down here would whole heartedly support that change and allow a much needed change of teams throughout the SPFL and completely freshen up senior football throughout Scotland.
  12. So now you’d prefer we have no representation either ! As I stated early it took the Juniors how long to decide to jump on the senior bandwagon , a Century maybe and within 10 minutes they’re calling the shots ! We understand the disparity in playing levels but as he been stated many times if our sub standard League offers no threat to the former Junior big guns in the West and East making the LL what difference does it make to give the champions the opportunity they’re earned ? It’s not the fault of the South the way the p,st off situation has been decided is it ?
  13. What good would kicking up a fuss have done ? This was Threave’s decision to leave and the WOSFLs choice to let them in so what do you think anyone in the South could’ve done to prevent this ? I suggest you point your finger of blame in the direction of both parties in this situation !
  14. You know me David and I’ll always be honest and say that it would be incredibly difficult due to our geographical location and the obvious difficulties of getting lads off work early to make midweek matches in the Central belt etc. How many of the members teams in the East and West realistically have ambitions of LL football , I’d assume very few but I appreciate the situation and we’ll take things as they come regardless
  15. Champions beaten 3-1 by a Darvel side we’ll all agree was assembled at a vast expense compared to virtually every non league club in the Country never mind the limited finance available in the South and to use the Nithsdale result when they had multiple suspensions of key players ( self inflicted admittedly ) is hardly the best yardstick to chose is it ? You’d have to ask Threave why they made this decision as no one locally seems to see the benefits but that’s their choice. A merger is possible I’d say imo in the future but as has been said many times the South at Tier 6 u,Tim’s tell holds no one back does it ? It’s very convenient again imo for all the former Junior teams to jump on board , assume they can call the shots and dictate how things work when for a Century they had no interest whatsoever until Kelty showed them the grass might just be greener on the other side ! No one denies the obvious difference in standard but what does moving the SoS in terms of tiers do to help any ambitious teams out there when we apparently represent a very small obstacle
  16. I may be wrong but when Bonnyton left the South last year there certainly wasn’t a Stand which is a requisite requirement and not ever any covered area whatsoever unless they’ve added these things in the last few months !
  17. Brilliant photo’s as always Stephen and a great win for the visitors
  18. Got the Newton score right and in fairness almost all the winners correct
  19. As the page has been fairly quiet of late does anyone want to hazard a guess at the scores for this Saturday ? Are there any shocks on the cards , which of the local sides will make it to Round 3 and how will the South fixtures go ? Weekend Fixtures Soccer Shop Challenge Cup 2nd Round Dunipace v Mid Annandale Forth Wanderers v Threave Rovers Haddington Athletic v Abbey Vale Lochmaben v Kirkcaldy & Dysart Newton Stewart v Yoker Athletic St Cuthbert Wanderers v Tynecastle Upper Annandale v Berwick Rangers Vale of Leithen v Heston Rovers South of Scotland League Caledonian Braves v Stranraer SOS Creetown v Nithsdale Wanderers Lochar Thistle v Wigtown & Bladnoch
  20. Starts this weekend and they appear to have used a degree of common sense which is rare for them and not included areas where the case numbers are still relatively low
  21. Still a concern to everyone down here obviously however your vitally important opinion is duly noted
  22. 14 but the aim is for a 26 game season ! As mentioned the cases here compared to the Central belt are comparatively low and hopefully following guidelines they can get things up and running , starting Saturday.
