  1. I think it would take at least 7 figures for us to consider it and I doubt anyone is willing to pay that tbh.
  2. https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/aberdeen-fc/aberdeen-dubai-derek-whyte/ Meanwhile in the North East sanity prevails...
  3. I read Smith's quotes just to make sure it wasn't overblown tabloid nonsense. It's not, he does say they need to gamble with going into debt to compete with Celtic. He actually says 'people can say what they like about being sensible but...'. Now, a business being in debt is not necessarily a bad thing, sustainable gearing is perfectly legitimate. But we are talking about a club currently relying on soft loans to pay the existing bills. So to suggest that they spend millions on speculative transfers just to satisfy their little pantomime rivalry with their best mates is just lunacy. And I agree with you, 5 years ago the administrators were trying to pull on the heartstrings of everyone with 'Rangers fans just want a team playing at Ibrox to support'. Clearly this is not true.
  4. It's a quite incredible mindset. If I was a Rangers fan (gads min) I'd be insulted by the utter dog shite printed by the likes of the Record never mind one of their club 'legends'. "Just spend money, that's what Celtic are doing and we're Glasgow Rangers, we must spend" merely 5 years on from driving themselves into the ground for this very reason.
  5. I'd be hugely surprised and angered if we were to sell Hayes for anything like £500k. He has 18 months left on his deal, we're not desperate for a minor cash injection, selling him would put European football at risk, majorly piss off fans and reduce attendances and we couldn't replace him like for like for £500k. It would make absolutely no sense.
  6. [emoji1] The random fat c**t boxing. The scary thing is davie bhoy used to come on here and argue this stuff as fact.
  7. Agreed. Also they are absolute cowards when they say it because they never mention who should drop out to accommodate the "big" club, just that they want them back.
  8. Agree with this. The Glasgow media especially love to hammer home the 'down South they think x about Scottish football' when it really is an irrelevance to most people in Scotland. The English always have and always will hold our game in contempt, we're not going to change it. Let's concentrate on ourselves. It does feel like the media here has been totally consumed by the commercial argument for everything. The "need" for Hibs and United back in the league is purely financial so that Sky or BT might be more interested. It amazes me the amount of people in the press who have totally lost sight of the fact that Hibs and United are there purely and simply because they were both useless.
  9. Did Hearts not significantly change their squad from the championship winning side?
  10. Logan the latest to be linked with a move to Ipswich for £200k. We really must have them rattled.
  11. "What's annoyed you today Alan?" "I just hate...the general public"
  12. I like how they threw in 'he likes jack and McGinn as well' for good measure. Top trolling
  13. "You're the worstest" "No, you're the worstest!" "NO, you're the worstest!" and so on. Welcome to the greatest derby on earth.
  14. In fairness reading the quotes it reads more like he just thinks one of the two of them will go up, which is probably fair. I'm sure he probably does believe the whole 'they deserve to be in the premiership because they have big crowds' bullshit.
  15. Journalism would be entirely pointless if the editor/chief exec or whatever didn't back their employee in this kind of dispute. If a journalist is censored from reporting fact on the basis of someone doesn't like it and the editor supports that censorship then the whole game is a bogey.
  16. People who sit next to you on the bus when there is plenty of free rows elsewhere. Why, just why?
  17. I think you meant duopoly but I'll let you off [emoji6] I think up until 2012 as much as it was shite as a diddy (especially supporting the dons) you had to grudgingly accept that competing with two clubs of that size is nigh on impossible. Of course there's the unpleasantness that comes with those two clubs which adds to the bitterness but that's another debate for another time [emoji1]. What was difficult to accept was one of the big clubs self destructing to the point of liquidation and being told that for commercial reasons they were to be let straight back in to resume the duopoly that was so shit. As a fan of Aberdeen, Kilmarnock whoever the tv money, whilst I agree was an important source of income for diddy clubs, had no benefit to me. The commerciality of football in the sky sports era has ruined it for diddy clubs. So to be told that rangers get put back in to preserve that was very bitter. With football in its current form there is little we can do about the duopoly. Self interest reigns amongst the entire top flight. The tv companies want to show Celtic and Rangers and as such you want your share of the revenue to reflect it. You do this because you need to challenge Celtic and ultimately get the commercial benefits of Europe. All this makes business sense, it kills sport. There's a part of me that wants to see Scotland shut out of the champions league. Then the two of you (well Celtic now mainly) won't need to spend millions chasing a spot in the group stages, never mind the money that will be spent by Celtic now they've had that windfall. It won't change thought, commerciality has football In a vice and I don't see that changing.
  18. Happy to be proven wrong as I don't know but I can only imagine that rugby league doesn't suffer the monumental distortion of competition that we do here that has ruined much of the enjoyment of Scottish football for many diddy supporters. Cheating or no cheating (I'm aware this isn't cut and dry) the racking up of such debts caused this destruction of competition for most of us. For that to then subsequently result in rangers running themselves into the ground and going bust was of course going to be pleasing for many, myself included. The bitterness for me was being told that we 'needed' to return to this broken, distorted, uncompetitive league situation which most diddies were totally disillusioned with. Countless season tickets bought out of blind loyalty hoping one day it might change, only to be told in no uncertain terms that the status quo must be kept even in light of Rangers destroying themselves. The frenzy was needed, of course there are extremes on both sides who can't debate reasonably, as is always the case in such passionate circumstances. I'm pretty sure rugby league has a good thing going that most fans enjoy and isn't in need of radical change unlike the farce that was/is our domestic game.
