  1. Heard similar back when Cammy Smith was with us. I think Mcinnes is paranoid about allowing players out on loan then us suffering an injury crisis. Just in that awkward position of not quite good enough for regular first team football yet but good enough to be considered as an important back up.
  2. It’s not the worst idea. Scotland is crying out for a 30k seater stadium To host lesser internationals and certain semi final fixtures. Hampden has proved itself for the big occasion but anything beyond that it is a soulless dump. A New dons stadium could make a brilliant difference in this regard. I’m not naive, I know it’s not a silver bullet to rectify all the current ills of Scottish football but it may be a start.
  3. As I said my knowledge of the actual rules are pretty terrible. I would hope that when we went after him we’d be aware if there was a chance we’d have to pay 900k compensation. If that was a set In stone number based on the level of first team football he’s had in the last couple of seasons then we’ve made a monumental c**t of this signing. Unless he’s absolutely brilliant.
  4. Is this not quite scientific though? I.e we are due Hamilton a certain amount of cash for this one. Didn’t think there was much room for negotiation. Admittedly I don’t know the technicality’s on this.
  5. Genuine question, what are the actual rules here? Surely if there are rules here regarding youth players then the amount we owe should just be straightforward? £900k seems very very steep. I doubt we’d have pursued him if that was a realistic. Cost to us.
  6. Scott McKenna is in the team because he showed he’s good enough and has produced it week in and week out. It’s a great incentive for the younger players and I hope they grasp it but I am not one for just chucking in youngsters because that’s the done thing these days. You pick a team each week to win the game. You could argue mcinnes should show more faith In youth but similarly the onus should be on the younger guys to prove they are worth that spot. McKenna is a shining example of that. If you can show yourself to be a starter when given the opportunity then the chances are there for you. For me the burden of responsibility is on the young player to get into the first team, not the burden of mcinnes to “put more faith” in youth.
  7. Indeed. Soccernomics has an interesting chapter on the correlation of transfer fees and success and wages and success. Admittedly it’s focused on England but the ‘net spend’ of clubs on transfer fees has seemingly very little bearing on the success of a club. Level of wages however give or take basically predicts a league table.
  8. Modern football is shite. Accept it.
  9. I’m not sure you need to live there to know it’s nonsense tbh
  10. In fairness, I don’t know if there is or isn’t a conflict of interest as I haven’t done enough research but... - if the complaint is on the grounds that someone has a link to Celtic therefore must be pure evil by the way and hates all things rangers then that is Stone Age Scottish football thinking which i fucking hate. I could be proved wrong. - it is clear that Dave king is making a very public statement of this for his own benefit. No reason why this couldn’t have been a private matter if the sole problem was a potential conflict of interest. I know you’re not naive enough not to realise that a lot of rangers statements are designed to rally the hard of thinking amongst the rangers support.
  11. Anyone know anything about this guy other than what’s on his Wikipedia?
  12. Hibees getting a little carried away with how good handsome John is.
  13. Jesus that’s shocking. RIP Neale. Obviously a club legend but more importantly a brilliant guy.
  14. Nobody is suggesting not applying scrutiny to a season or performances, squad or whatever. It is relevant to provide context of where we were prior to McInnes arriving and where we are now, particularly when it comes to people suggesting McInnes be sacked. This idea that “happy clappers” are just sat in perpetuity being grateful that we’re not as bad as we were under McGhee is an absolute fallacy and a very lazy argument.
  15. If we’d just finished 6th for the 5th season in a row with no Europe or cup runs etc you may have a point with this statement. As it happens we have a manager with an outstanding win %, a 2nd place finish despite having to rebuild half the team the previous summer (fairly poorly). Prior to that we’ve had European runs with some genuinely impressive results, being allowed to actually dream of a title race, a trophy, another two cup finals, several semi finals, dishing out 5, 6 and 7 goal thrashing’s, an ability to retain management and players despite interest from bigger clubs, players who genuinely want to be here now and a raising in standards so much that bedwetters still complain in spite of all of the above. You crack on though.
  16. Yes. Until you do offer someone 60k a week and that’ll be a bad thing. The sooner you accept that Dave king could cure aids, cancer and famine in the space of a week and the rest of Scotland would still hope rangers burn in the fiery depths of hell, the better.
  17. Did we? I thought mulgrew equalised with a free kick
  18. I was late for the game and was queuing for the south to get in when I heard the back 4 had duff and young in it. I then heard we were losing. Sounds about right, I thought.
  19. I think you’ll find the queen generates 20m a year in tourism and we’d be sleeping on the streets like in Dublin without her.
  20. Ntcham always looks stoned out of his box. Good player though.
  21. My favourite bit is that he specifies Sunday afternoon due to the logistics of the Europa League to give it credibility.
