They are allowed to go on just a freeze frame. The Aberdeen statement points this out.
it was clearly offside.
That really doesn’t wash given how often we’re told that camera angles and perspective skew what we see on telly and that we just need to trust that VAR always gets offside right.

statement is good but I’d actually say it’s the wrong incident to call for VAR to be removed.
If you accept that technology has glitches like the Hawkeye system failing then you’d think it would be easy enough to have a strict protocol saying if the system isn’t working, don’t fucking guess and then lie about why you haven’t released the evidence of the decision. it isn’t something that actually requires the removal of VAR.
The removal of VAR is a broader point about the impact on the game and the problems of which it solves none of. That decision on Saturday at livi took a good 5 minutes after celebrating what seemed like a winning goal. And for what?

I don't think anyone is basing their current expectations on Aberdeen winning the cup.
You what

In all seriousness that is absolutely farcical way of making the decision and explains a lot. That decision took fucking ages on Saturday and turns out they’ve ultimately guessed in the end. Mental stuff.

They must have read my email after all

Ok fair play, i take it all back. That is pretty funny.

I thought they were already doing that?
Bad news is I’ve got the semi final, good news for you is @kingjoey is doing this weekends game with Dundee.

That this is only getting traction/coverage based on who is involved in it. Correct me if that's not what you're implying and I'm mistaken.
It was a general point that included the weekends game, which was also farcical in its coverage. I did ignore it on here, mostly because I wasn’t interested.
The team involved today and the fact it’s on tv clearly does exacerbate the coverage. But the incessant updates on the state of Dundee’s pitch, the coverage of an interim inspection and the updates on the weather in Dundee are frankly mind numbing.
It’s a good case study in how media and social media can fry people’s brains over the most mundane things.

Did you just ignore the same things being said at the weekend when it was Motherwell visiting Dens?
Statements, complaints and interviews. 33 pages on their match thread before a ball was kicked. Doesn't suit the narrative though
Whats the narrative?

Amazing the amount of coverage something gets when the right people get excited by it.
What a fucking carry on.

From the BBC website on the Dundee v Rangers game
"A draw for the hosts"
"A draw" would suffice, a draw for the hosts would also be a draw for the visitors.
Technically true but think it’s just putting emphasis on the fact they are talking about Dundee’s objectives and not rangers.

I could be wrong, but isn’t the £7 postage fee only if you select special delivery as the method? For our Semi Final I was £41 for the North Stand which includes a £1 web sales fee.
AFC website only offers collection or special delivery

It's difficult to know how much blame to put on the club. If he's made up his mind that he's not signing then there's little the club can do to force him.
Agree but don’t think we can say we’ve created an environment for him to thrive in to make him want to stay.
For whatever reason he couldn’t get in the team for months this season, not something his ability seemed to justify so that’s puzzling. We’re now playing him every week in a poor team, under pressure to try and drag us out of a relegation battle. It’s just not great conditions for his development.
Im sure financially we’ll have done what we can in making him an offer, and it’s difficult to compete with serie A but you have to give yourself the best chance.

A shame about Barron but if it is serie A then that’s a decent destination for him to go and me be invested in how he does.
A talent that’s been poorly mismanaged by the club unfortunately.

Rangers somehow managed to get a point despite Scott Wright playing a hefty amount of the game.
Surely that's something?
It was my understanding that his portion of the game resulted in them being fortunate not to be 4-0 down and the entire stadium spitting with rage?

Anything else happen in the game?

Weirdly, the bbc website highlights of this doesn’t include the disallowed goal at 2-1.

Serious question - do people honestly think their club at boardroom level is going to reply to an email saying, "Aye, we totally agree, we are dumping it"? You will get corporate-speak. So, "shaping the future" is what you will get. Chase, all you want.
No, obviously not. But if a little bit of engagement from clubs and pressure from people builds momentum then it might actually move towards change.
Nobody really expects this to succeed, but it is more than just moaning about it.

Fucksake lads. It sounds like you actually played out an entertaining game of football in a pivotal moment in the season and all you can talk about is refs and VAR.
So unbelievably dull.

Finally got a reply earlier this week after I responded to a season ticket renewal reminder email saying I was very reluctant to renew given the impact of VAR.
Not much said other than the club would be involved behind the scenes in shaping the future of VAR. I went back saying tweaking wouldn’t cut it.
Poor response. Club never followed up with me after the initial voicemail. Going to chase them this week.

You honestly think that McGregor is the best midfielder Scotland have at our disposal just now?
That isn’t what I said. I said he’s a first pick in midfield and it’s arguable that he’s the best midfielder we’ve got. Mainly in response to you deriding that view because he misplaced a pass.
I don’t know why you think it’s such a ridiculous shout.

According to Thommo before the last Scotland match McGregor is the best midfielder available to Steve Clarke for the Euros in Germany.
His sloppy pass led to one of the Rangers goals.
Tavernier was equally poor aside from his penalty.
McGregor being poor as a substitute in his first game back from injury doesn’t really disprove this, does it?
He’s clearly a first choice in the Scotland midfield and arguably the best option we have.

Listened to the game today while out running. My favourite moment:
Pat bonner talking about a Celtic goal, to which Richard Gordon said ‘and it all came from a Celtic goal kick that rangers didn’t deal with’
”I KNOW THAT RICHARD” boasted Pat, irked by him questioning his extensive knowledge of the game.
“yes Pat, but the people listening might not”
“oh right, of course, yes”

Chasing VAR out of Scotland

It doesn’t sort anything. It looks like it’s ‘probably’ offside, but it really isn’t the point.
