  1. Might as well have my twopence worth. Shocking mistake by Armstrong for the penalty which was probably the decisive moment in the game. Sam Young had another good game.He has done well but with Davo Alfie and Armstrong already there did we really need another centre back. We seem to be now trying to shoehorn players into positions they're not really comfortable with in order to play them. None of our forwards look like they could burst a paper bag. Sinclair wide left was another strange one. Dan Watt is slow but a really good target man. He needs players close to him for flick ons or knock downs to get the best out of him. Just like Renton under Bollan he spends a lot of his energy in fruitless chasing about and holding of defenders while searching vainly for a team mate anywhere near him.As for Liam I always felt Mo was asking him to do things that wasted his talents. When we beat Forfar four one I was so relieved that we had found the winning formula just in time for the play off only for Mo to change the team. Not playing Liam in the first leg was a big mistake. It's all water under the bridge now though. I liked the look of the young lad we have signed from Swifts so it's not all doom and gloom
  2. Perfectly summed up by cowdenleith. Our inability to convert even the simplest of chances is really hurting us. We missed at least three sitters. Young lad from pars looked lost at left back but perfectly assured when switched to centre back.
  3. If my club vote for this they have seen the last of me. You could be stuck in that new league forever.
  4. A what might have been. Colts tactics were to punt long balls in behind for two quick forwards to chase. Crude but effective. Not sure what our tactics were. We kept looking for that killer long pass instead of building through midfield. Second half was much better especially after Watt came on. We deserved something hit the bar hit the post but just couldn't score. Early goal we lost was very preventable too. We can't go up and won't go down so if the manager wants to try different tactics and different player combinations I guess now is a good time.
  5. Sums up football today that the dark arts are the first thing kids are taught. We lost more than Rangers did from the sendings off. Decent effort today, just the same, we are definitely improving.
  6. Anyone know if there is seating at Edinburgh university's ground?
  7. I have to say, that in the reverse fixture at Tranent we were made very welcome. They seemed to have a pretty decent home support too.
  8. Have we finally turned the corner? The last two games have seen the players battling for the manager, the fans and each other. In foul conditions, both teams served up a pretty decent game. We played very well first half to limit Stirling to so few opportunities with the Gale behind them, and made better use of the conditions in the second. The only quibble I have is that as soon as we scored we went into game management see it out mode. If the world cup showed anything it was the folly of trying to sit on a lead. Argentina twice couldn't even defend a two goal lead. Surely better with that gale behind us, to try and keep them penned in their own half. Anyway, all's well that ends well. No failures today and it makes a nice change to leave the ground happy.
  9. Anyone know if there is seating at Dalbeattie?
  10. Merry Christmas to Deanburn Dave, Berwick the Unbeatable, Kelheart and all the Cowden faithful.
  11. Okay that's fair enough then though hardly the way to endear ourselves to the officials.
  12. Can't resist cliping on the assistant manager whom I heard shout at a player- you're useless, and he's fucking even worse. When Maurice is interviewed, he comes across as softly spoken intelligent, approachable and talks a really good game.On the sidelines , he is wound up as tight as a drum, rants and raves, and makes his displeasure very evident. Which one is the real Maurice? I suspect that after our last meeting at the Junction the fans feelings about the way he spoke to the players was fed back and for a while it was a bit more restrained in the dug out but last night was back to square one. Of course he must be as disappointed as any of us with the way things are going but we have reached the point now whether we have to seriously consider if a parting of the ways might not be better for both parties. Incidentally thought the new guy looks like he can play a bit but looks well shortf of match fitness.
  13. A bit late to ask I know, but is there any seating at Newtown park.
  14. The thing that has puzzled me since Maurice first came in, was that we changed to a possession based style and lost somewhat unluckily to Kelty ,who were top then narrowly to Forfar who were second top, quite promising I thought but then we just abandoned the style completely.
  15. I was thinking we could maybe inspire the team by emulating the Senegal fans, painting ourselves white and spelling out Cowdenbeath, but I don't suppose we have enough fans for that. We could probably manage oh f.
  16. Sorry to hear about big Bob. With reference to the Haws game Ryan Connelly is a player we should never have released.
  17. That should have read terracing wall. Useless spellchecker.
  18. We were comfortably the better team first half and deserved to be in front. Strollers manager obviously got stuck into his players at half time. They upped their efforts in the second half and we couldn't respond. Our midfield is woeful. We have two or three players who can't play and two or three more who it seems can't be bothered to play and it's killing us. At strollers ground the words of the prophets are written on the retracing wall. Everything has led to this---pish.
  19. A view from the terrace brought back some painful memories last night, though I wouldn't mind us being bottom of the championship again.
  20. Agree with the above. Should have gone for the jugular after opening goal, they were there for the taking. Instead, fell back invited them on and paid the price. Liam getting the winner just put the tin lid on it.
  21. 933 at Bonnyrigg v East Fife. That's a community getting behind its football team.
  22. To be fair to Maurice, Man City often had eleven men behind the ball at the weekend . The difference is they pass their way up the park in double quick time and don't just boot it forward.
  23. Officials were poor last night and easily conned. Spartans boss seemed an even bigger ranter than Maurice. Quite something watching the two of them raving in unison at their players l much preferred it when away fans went to the other stand. Having to listen to some of the rubbish spewed out from some of the Spartans fans was surprisingly really annoying.
  24. At last we look like a team. Carlos looked way off it on Wednesday but was miles better today. All our experienced players played well and that seemed to lift the. younger lads , who get more confident as the game progressed. Shire were pretty poor but I think they will stay up . Nice strip though.
