  1. Bollan has taken us from rock bottom to third. Crazy to suggest he should go. Some of his decisions seem a bit puzzling at times, but you could say that about any manager.
  2. Hopefully we can appeal the red card, as we can ill afford to lose Hamilton. Morrison's injury is a worry too as he was comfortably our best player. Our centre backs are normally rock solid, but I think the slippery surface made them a bit uncertain, and the pace and craft of Bikey and Duffy worried them all game. Last week Allen got the ball into feet and he scored one, made one, and led the Stenny defence a merry dance. This week he hardly got a pass the whole game. Miller and Buchanan were at their infuriating worst, hardly winning a tackle or completing a pass. Don't know whyMiller was preferred to Cox, maybe the latter was carrying a knock. Had a bad feeling about this game beforehand, I just felt we were due a poor performance, and it was certainly that. Stirling took their chances and were well worth the win. Referee was stinking as per usual.
  3. You are not down yet. You've got the manager you've got, and you've got the team you've got. Best thing to do is get right behind them. We scraped through one play off on penalties, and in the other we looked gone for all money at half-time in the second leg but somehow turned it round. It can be done.
  4. Yes please. By the way, who gave the Stenny young ultras a drum and a loudspeaker?
  5. I must have been watching a different game from everyone else. Conditions were terrible, and under the circumstances I thought it was a pretty decent game. The new signings have beefed Stenny up a bit and fourth is still a possibility, so as point for us is not a disaster. We really needed Mullen's penalty to go in.I didn't think a one goal lead would be enough against that wind and so it proved. It has to be said that without Miller we played a lot more decent football. Morrison was really good and Allan demonstrated what he can do if he gets the ball into feet. As for Cox, his work rate is terrific and he is a very physical player. What gets me is that after getting a yellow he doesn't hold back but becomes even more aggressive. if he had been red carded we wouldn't have had much grounds for complaint
  6. Decent first half faded a bit second. He wasn't the only one.
  7. Glad about Cox. Don't suppose it made any difference to the result but we'll never know.
  8. That's some pedigree for a Cowden keeper, Athletico Madrid, Celtic, Leeds and er Hamilton
  9. Agree with Ivo and Aberdeen Cowden Couldn't believe Hamilton didn't start. Second penalty was a joke. Cox worked his socks off as usual and Thomas looked decent when he came on. Cove deserved it over the piece, our keeper did well once we were down to ten. Hope Cox gets cleared or he could be looking at a long suspension Officiating terrible
  10. Looking at our depleted team before kick off on Saturday, I was really worried, but we played some really good stuff and deserved our win. Connor Smith had his best game for us and there were no failures. All the same, Nade's sending off was a big break for us even though we were 2-0 up. I wasn't looking forward to the ball being fired into our box all the second half with the Gale force wind behind it. A crucial win though, and it gives us a bit of breathing space. A shame about Smith , but if we could hold on to Hamilton that would be a big help. I wonder if Connelly will be recalled from his loan, and the manager might be able to pull another rabbit out of the hat.
  11. There must be plenty of Hearts fans looking for a decent Edinburgh team to support
  12. Oh dear it's all getting a bit petty. That trapdoor does concentrate the mind wonderfully, as we know from bitter experience. Your team looked physically imposing on Saturday and has some decent players, but also some rotten ones. You had a few players out as did we.It's going to be a bumpy ride and a lot will depend on what happens in the transfer window
  13. Fair point. Maybe it just seemed like we had more of the ball because we were just farting about when we had it whereas city were moving it forward quickly
  14. City deserved their win. With far less of the ball, they looked far more dangerous. Their experienced players, mc manus McCord Hill all played well. We contributed to our own downfall. Keeper (and others ) at fault for the first goal. McCord given all the room he wanted to pick his passes, whilst our own midfield continually misplaced or overhit theirs. All these cards we are picking up are going to hurt us, and so many of them are for really stupid things. City seem to have found a way of playing th a suits the players they have, and have a fighting chance of beating the drop. From a pie and soup eating perspective I hope so
  15. Is Tuesday game in any doubt? Heavy rain forecast for all day Tuesday
  16. This was the very definition of a hard fought game. In terrible conditions both sides gave it everything, and served up some decent entertainment. Elgin probably shaded it in terms of possession, but we created the better chances, but couldn't put one of them away. Agree that Todd was outstanding, and Allan looked so sharp when he came on, I was wishing he had been on from the start. A draw is not a disaster though.
  17. Remember that Peterhead game. Never been so cold in my life.Sieves was a hero then, and I was really pleased when he re signed for us but after a few games it was obvious his fitness had gone. But we've had plenty worse centre backs than him.
  18. Was a funny moment from Dubrowski.Sprinting half the length of the pitch( where was the limp?) and giving it large to the away fans. Then he looked over his shoulder and saw two Queens players with steam coming out their ears heading towards him. He tried to beat a hasty retreat to the dressing room while at the same time milking the applause from the home fans. Don't really know whether he made it unscathed or not.
  19. Forgot to add Allan out for a couple of weeks- knee injury.
  20. Despite his howler of a cross field pass, thought Queens Park no 5( jamieson ?) looked a really good player in the making. Trialist keeper did well too. A close game, and a really gutsy win for us.Hamilton did well in midfield and everybody put in a shift.Cox's reputation goes before him and there's no doubt the Queens players targeted him but we can't go on like this. To get booked, and then get sent off before play has even restarted is ridiculous Dubrowski's antics at the end were a bit out but the ensuing mayhem was mental. All good fun though
  21. Considering our league position, that's a bit pessimistic Drifter.
  22. Nice friendly bunch of people who run Annan, the fans are pretty likable too, their team less so. First half was scrappy, but we were comfortably the better team, created four decent chances and missed them all. As soon as we went behind at the start of the second half I knew what was coming. Football Jim but not as we know it. Timewasting taken to the nth degree, players screaming when tackled, lying in a crumpled heap for no apparent reason, the ball kicked away at every opportunity. It worked so I don't imagine they'll be stopping anytime soon but it won't win them many friends. Referee was hopelessly lenient, and I can't fathom why Buchanan was playing on the left and Taylor on the right instead of the r other way round, but what do I know.
  23. Highlight of the day was the spectator heading the ball back into play then performing a spectacular forward roll over the barrier
  24. With the carrot of an eminently winnable tie in the next round, that was a desperately poor performance. It looked like Barr was pushed a bit forward to beef up the midfield, and he won plenty of the ball without really doing much with it. First half was scrappy, and Broxburn got a break with the penalty. Second half we upped our effort and had most of the play but never looked like scoring, a couple of goalmouth scrimmages the best we could muster. With far less of the ball Broxburn looked far more dangerous and were well worth the win. Thought when Kevin saved the second penalty the tide might turn but we just didn't have it in us The form of quite a few players, Cox Miller Buchanan Thomas Renton has dipped. Hopefully we will play our way out of it.
  25. Broxburn are a decent team with some good players, I especially liked the number five and the wide left front man. They were well up for it too, a lot more than we seemed to be. After our great run I suppose the team can be excused a poor performance. We badly lack a ball winner in midfield. Our build up was far too laboured , and we squandered some good positions up front. Barr and Todd were solid as usual and a great finish from Cox but apart from that not much to enthuse about Our habit of getting in front and then sitting back finally came unstuck. But hey ho we are still unbeaten and still in the cup. Quite looking forward to next week actually.
