  1. You're right about the ref. He is hopeless and easily conned. He was useless refereeing div 2 games, but that hasn't stopped him moving up the chain . The next lot coming along are no better.
  2. Well, that's that. Didn't want to jinx it by saying so beforehand but I felt that this was a really pivotal game. Win and the team's above us might start getting nervous but there was nothing in that performance to worry them. I lost count of how many times we simply gave the ball away, including from all of our throw ins. The draw would have been a fair result but somehow you knew what did happen was going to happen. What has happened to the controlled possession football we played in our first few games under Ross? This new striker will need to be a combination of Joe Jordan and Alan Shearer to get us out of this.
  3. Stenny were missing Thomson and O'Reilly, and it showed. Once Jamieson went off they looked vulnerable at the back as well. Thought Wedderburn was their best player. Still not too sure about leaving Liam Buchanan out but you couldn't argue with the performance today. If we can show that attitude and application every week we might get out of it yet.
  4. Surprised to see Stirling letting Dylan Bikey go always thought he was pretty decent, he would certainly add some pace to our front line. Forget that, seems he is homesick and heading back to France.
  5. He was still fuming at the end but luckily his teammates calmed him down.
  6. We are playing better than our results have shown so maybe we will get a bit of luck for a change. Barr will be a miss of course, but our problems are at the other end of the field.
  7. You can't fault the players for effort. Even with ten men they never gave up. Referee was diabolical, the sfa seem to have an endless supply of them .
  8. Eighteen games left and I reckon Cowdenbeath would have to win eleven of them to avoid finishing bottom. Not impossible but we would need some quality signings who would have to hit the ground running.
  9. Merry Christmas to all you Cowden fans out there, I think we all know what to ask Santa for.
  10. Pretty well summed up by Nelly. I know Liam Buchanan has been a bit off the boil recently but I think not starting him was a mistake. You could see the difference he made when he came on.
  11. We are definitely playing better under Ross than we were latterly under Bollan, but as we know from bitter experience once you're down there it's so difficult to get out of it. A missed penalty and a goal chalked off for not very much are just typical of what happened before. Makes Wednesday's game even more important Nothing else to do except keep the faith and get right behind the team.
  12. ls everyone too cheesed off to bother commenting on Saturdays game? Travelled 150 miles in pouring rain only to miss the first goal as I was too busy watching Mullen and the Stranraer no 2 having a stand up fight in the middle of the park. Mullen's temperament really is a problem Second goal took a big deflection and was scored while Craig Barr was off getting treatment. Here endeth the excuses. Same team as finished last week but not the same performance. Give the manager his due, he took Hutton off at half time, swapped things around and we were the better side in the second half, but you never had the feeling we were going to get back in it Hit the bar and squandered three half decent chances. It is vital that we improve our finishing. Ross Clarke is about the only player who hasn't had a run out under the new boss. I imagine there will be some changes come January but in the mean time we have two home games we really must get something from
  13. I suppose the manager needs to see all the players in action before deciding on his best formation. Our possession football frustrated Forfar and kept them at arms length for most of the game. Once we were undone at the set piece the game was up, for we carry zero threat up front. Taking off both strikers when we were two nil down seemed a bit bonkers but the game was done by then
  14. Didn't help that McHardie was given a free pass by the ref to boot him up and down the park. From the moment of Mango's mysterious departure we looked vulnerable, particularly at set pieces Building from the back is preferable to Bollan's hoofball but it does run the risk of losing possession in our own half. Whether we have the players with the skill and movement to make it work I don't know. In a league where, apart from Kelty, everyone is capable of beating everyone else, I reckon we will need to win half our games to avoid bottom. It looks a big ask at the moment.
  15. So much for fresh ideas. Started with the same team as last week. First half was brutal from both sides. After we went behind Hutton came on for Bobby Barr and we suddenly sprung to life.. we were better side for the rest of the game but couldn't find a way through. Swinglehurst won every high ball, a rock for them.If Todd is fit wouldn't mind seeing O'Connor in midfield, think it might solve some of our problems
  16. Tam the Bam has made a good pitch for the job, I like his style. Wouldn't mind Gary Jardine but he already has a job. When it all kicked off approaching half-time yesterday I think his intervention saved Thomson from being red carded, a decent thing to do.
  17. Hi there, just thought I'd cheer myself up by visiting a thread where the fans are even more pissed off than our own.
  18. Lost 2-0 and our keeper was man of the match. Not unreasonable of the manager to start with the same team that played well at Edinburgh, but we were never at it. Did nobody tell the players this was an important game? Second to every ball, players hiding, really really poor. Better effort in the second half but why wait till the game is lost? If Thomson is out for Stenny for a while that's a big blow for them ,but as long as we're playing like that they won't have to worry about finishing bottom. The manager's new signings Cammy Gill ,Craig Thompson ,Liam Buchanan all look decent but something clearly isn't right. Our midfield is powder puff, easily brushed aside. That's the issue the manager hasn't addressed.
  19. Having seen every team this season now, I don't think either team will finish bottom but there they are, and we know from experience that the longer they stay there the harder it is to get out of it.
  20. lDuring Lockdown, I was so desperate to read anything football related I resorted to looking back at posts from a few years back. They make pretty cringeworthy reading. After a game against Arbroath I opined that Henderson was never a left back(and for good measure that Fraser Mullen was never a right back). He gifted a goal with a suicide pass across his own penalty area and got roasted by Bobby Linn . He's come a long way since then. He will always be fondly remembered at Central Park for sticking away a vital penalty in the shootout. How we finished bottom with that squad is mind boggling.
  21. There's rarely any trouble at lower league games and a bit of banter is all part of the fun. But if you're going to insist on away supporters going to a designated area surely it should be for away supporters only. Great to see young kids supporting their local team, but I suspect they are put where they are because the rest of the home support are fed up listening to them.
  22. The manager has to carry the can for this one. Put an extra man in midfield then punt high balls to a lone five feet nine striker. None of our midfield seemed to know where they were supposed to be playing., Switch back to a 4_4_2 and therafter we had most of the game, but by then we were 2-0 down. First , keeper came for a ball he was never going to get and second came down our left while Thomson was down injured. Towards the end we were leaving gaps while pushing forward and Stirling punished us. Don't think Stirling are all that good but they have pace up front and a no nonsense back four.
