  1. My wife us just home from the primary school she works at. One of the teachers has resigned. I expect BBC Scotland to be touting Derek McInnes as her replacement.
  2. I agree 100%. If he somehow got offered that gig, none of us could grudge him the move.
  3. Bookies don't have him in the running. Neil Lennon is at 20-1. No mention of DM. Canna see West Brom being interested. If they were, they would be off down south in a heartbeat.
  4. I disagree. A huge barrier to us winning more trophies is lack of belief. Its hard to generate the self belief required to win when every external information source is telling you that not only you can't win, but that it is impossible for you or anyone else to ever win the league. It becomes a self fulfilling prophesy.
  5. Great post and well timed. We also need to keep the heads up regarding Celtic. They smashed us in the League Cup Final last season and we bounced back to come within one well placed pass to win the Scottish Cup final against them in the last game of the season. Putting all Ra Sellick hyperbole aside, all the media bias and especially the negativity from our own fans, these are the actual facts: After 11 games, one third of the pre split league fixtures, Aberdeen are 1 point behind Celtic. In any other Country in the world, the talk would be of a neck and neck race between flamboyant wealthy aristocrats with all life's advantages unable to shake off the hard working pragmatists who grind out results. However, in Scotland, it is assumed universally that Celtic will win the league and the only question is when will Rangers bring some competition back to the Scottish Game? How much competition do folk want? This title race is far from over. f**k Celtic, f**k Rangers. Come on you Reds!
  6. If the intention of this post was to induce me to splutter my tea in righteous indignation, and in so doing inadvertently inhale a partly soaked hob knob, then you have succeeded. I hope you are happy. There's fucking tea everywhere.
  7. @grazza there is nothing wrong with liking your own company and just staying in with your partner. I have been married 25 years and I am not social at all. I like going to the football with my wife. Going to away games on a supporters bus with dafties is my only social life apart from my wife. I wouldn't change it, but I think sometimes she would like to go out more so I am trying to do that. I would advise setting aside a bit of time and talking over with your partner where you want to be and what you would like to be doing in 5 years time. Both professionally and in your family life. You could then work together on a loose plan to achieve your aims. Even if you don't get everything you want, its great for your relationship to communicate in this manner and it does give a bit if structure and direction. Life will usually throw spanners into all plans but when you are forced off course, with a plan you know where you were meant to be going. Using rough 5 year plans has worked for us anyway. Good luck.
  8. Agree with all this. Combine McLean going with not having Christie next season and we're going to need a brand new shiny Number 10.
  9. I watched James Madison on the TV playing for Norwich yesterday. He had a very good game, scored a really neat, well finished goal. The way the commentators were speaking about him, he is their main man. I still reckon Ryan Christie is a better player though.
  10. Fair enough. I should not have used the word revolutionary. It is a song that references war with our neighbours though and my preference would be that our national anthem for sporting events didn't do so. I agree there is a gulf between FoS and openly sectarian singing, as you say, they are on the same scale, albeit at different ends. The main crux of my post was to present my position of being offended by all sectarian singing whilst believing that I am not bigoted. I would dearly like to see an end to sectarian chanting and to be honest, the Jimmy Saville stuff can GTF as well. There is certainly nothing being done about it currently.
  11. I also find Football songs glorifying political murder offensive. Its just not right. I know people from the rural North East that have embraced the symbolism and pageantry sounding extreme elements of both sides of the old firm and have adopted sectarian views. Without football as a vehicle, these people are unlikely to have been exposed to this culture. I also find Aberdeen fans chanting songs referring to Fen***ns offensive, I am not a Catholic, but I don't think anyone should have to listen to that shite. Whilst most posters on here are probably thick skinned enough not let hearing a few songs ruin their football experience, that's not true of everyone. I said after I came back from Bosnia in the summer that sectarianism should have no place in modern football. The old quotation that all evil needs to prosper is for good to do nothing is true. The SFA cant really sanction clubs for fans singing hate filled songs whilst they use an anthem referencing revolutionary war with England. Songs about war and killing each other are wrong and we shouldn't have to tolerate listening to them. Not from any team.
  12. Not sure if this has been discussed on the thread. The Aberdeen For All initiative that allows Dons fans with a few bob to spare help others to get season tickets by chipping in to buy them is the coolest thing in football. This makes us officially the greatest club in the world.
  13. Aye, he fair likes a wee dance before knocking it past the keeper.
  14. Other than the freak bad luck he had in Maribor I can't recall him miss one. As jmo says, when we get a penalty and Rooney is playing, I am not really nervous, he's going to score.
  15. I can get frustrated by him at times. However, his goalscoring record speaks for itself. His ability taking penalties is only appreciated on the very rare occasion he misses one. He looked good alongside May on Saturday. they are both on long contracts so hopefully a strong partnership develops.
  16. Its likely he will make it into the top ten and enjoy a legacy of being one of great players we have had outside the Fergie years. Same as big Duncan.
  17. FFS then Russell, get the c**t to put Shinnie in the Squad.
  18. Lordy! Hunners o moneh for Fightin' Jay? If Carling did transfer windows....
  19. Best of luck with your mum. I hope she gets well soon. Must be a tough time for you.
