The New Raith Rovers Thread
Double Jack D replied to Hank Scorpio's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
I'm now expecting a Regan Hendry return and a Championship win this season. I hate what pre season does to me.... -

Neither season tickets not being on sale or Murray speaking to Dundee are good reasons to pish ones pants. -

Fact: We finished lower under Murray than we did under McGlynn. Opinion: Had McGlynn stayed we would be off to the seaside next season. -
All things Dundee FC

I like Murray and think he's done a decent job at Rovers this past season. I didn't think he was on the cusp of being poached mid contract by a Premiership club though. -

I'm quite happy with Murray and like the look of the squad hes building however, if Dundee want to pay us money for him it really wouldn't be the end of the world. I don't think he'll last a season if he does go. -

Absolutely delighted with Connollly staying, was convinced he'd be away but for him to commit to another 2 years and hear him talk so affectionately for the club really is pleasing. -

We had 26 in the squad this season. -

Robbie Thomson is a good bit of business for the club. A coach and decent backup goalie in one. -

I can't believe there are some offended by this My 12 year old daughter read the tweet, the innuendo sailed miles over her head and she is just genuinely delighted that her favourite player has signed a new contract. Not everyone's head is in the gutter. Mine is though and I had a wee chuckle at it. -
I'm still raging that we were robbed of a last day title party in Falkirk!

Not convinced about the slope accusation... that was eradicated when the stadium was built in 1996. McGinn never played on the slope. Everything else sounds legit though -
The general McGlynn trend is that the longer he stays the more he spends and the shiter, more predictable you become.

I'd also add that I feel the club is now totally cleansed of the Goodwillie saga. Everyone involved is now removed from the running of the club. Ironically, if this plan comes together, this could end up being the best thing that has happened to the Rovers for a long time. Feel that the club should be looking to re-establish the supporters fund. I definitely feel a motivation to contribute again given the noises coming out of the club at this time. -

Another very encouraging interview. I really like the enthusiasm that is coming across as well as some really good ideas on how they are going to go about things. Obviously I really want them to succeed as a Rovers fan, but you can really sense the determination from all the guys interviewed so far to make this project a success. I'm quite excited. -
Airdrie v Falkirk, 1st leg
Double Jack D replied to Donathan's topic in Scottish League 1 General Chatter
My favourite bit of the interview. As if he did it deliberately to prove his point to the fans demanding 2 up top. He then refused to change it when it went tits up just to really make the point stick. He fucking hates being at Falkirk as much as the fans hate him being there. Hope he survives, glorious. -

Fairly confident that if McGlynn was still here we'd be heading to the seaside next season too. -

I'm genuinely impressed that there appears to have been a significant detailed look at what is required to improve the clubs infrastructure. My favourite commitment is the free under 12 season ticket. Guarantees that I will be purchasing 4 Season tickets next season for me and the kids. Should mean that any kids playing for the community club at 2012's or younger will be able to get a season ticket. This is the future player, supporter, groundsman, director, Raith TV volunteer, 50-50 seller.... the absolute lifeblood of the club. Exciting times to be a Rover... -

Folk scoffing at Barjonas because of a handful of appearances for us when he was a teenager need to have a word with themselves. I think he'd be a really good signing. There are a number of players in the squad that I like but we want to finish higher than 7th next season, and that's all this squad achieved. We need to get better value out of our signings and we need a bit more depth to our playing squad. If that means some popular players moving on then so be it, if there is investment there then I have faith that Murray can build a squad capable of taking us forward. I draw the line at Lewis Vaughan however, he stays no matter what -
Ayr United vs Raith Rovers
Double Jack D replied to D'Jaffo's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
You wouldn't have known this, but his strategy was unveiled in an interview 3 weeks or so ago and is talking about the future of the club. What he says and what he does have not always aligned. -
Ayr United vs Raith Rovers

Predicting that Musonda would've signed for Ayr 12 months ago is similar to predicting that Mullin will sign for us this summer. Would certainly be a surprise but very much possible. I would imagine that Ayr and Rovers playing budgets are broadly similar so it could be down to geography, relationship with manager, colour of strip which ends up making players decisions. I think we're going to see a fair old merry go round at Starks this summer. Whilst I wouldn't suggest we have a lot of dead wood in the club, there are certainly players on decent money who, if they moved on, would free up wages for signings such as this. Doesn't fit Sims young, hungry (and cheap) signing philosophy but it may not be his call come the summer. -

I wouldn't be surprised if Adult Season tickets went up £20 or so. The key for me getting one will be the cost of getting the kids season tickets. The club simply has to keep the kids tickets as cheap as possible. One thing that has been hugely encouraging recently is the age demograph of our support. There are literally hundreds of kids every weekend wearing Rovers colours for the community club and wearing them with pride. These are the supporters and custodians of the club in the future and the club should be doing all it can to ensure as many under 12s as possible in the Kirkcaldy area have a Rovers season ticket. Short Term this may get a few more adults in but longer term it builds the fan base of the future.
